Comfortable cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths on main level and a 3rd private bedroom suite from an outside entry lower level. Amazing views and scenery from the 300 square foot deck and large sunroom. Additional covered front porch with comfortable retro glider furniture.
Nature lovers paradise with huge oak trees surrounding the house.
The dock and boat ramp are ideal for boaters and swimmers. Life vests and floats included.
Gas grills and cookers and pellet grill/smoker included. Extra refrigerator and extra freezer. Fully equipped kitchen.
Outdoor wood burning fire pit and huge indoor masonry fireplace with firewood
provided.
One of the best locations on Lake Murray with easy access to Marinas, restaurants, grocery, hardware and other shopping just 5 minutes away in the small villages of Ballentine and White Rock. When you drive on to the private island with just 10 other homes you feel like you are a world away from the hustle and bustle.

We’ve stayed at this house several times. It’s perfect for our family. It has everything you need, cooking supplies, swimming items, etc., which is a huge plus. It’s dog friendly. The location on the lake is great, you can hope over to Catfish Johnny’s for lunch or dinner. And the sunsets are amazing from the big porches.

Perfect cottage on the lake!

This was perfect for my family of 6. Such a cute property, right on the beautiful Lake Murray. Owner was very accommodating and helpful. Nice private neighborhood, restaurants and things to do within a short distance from the house. Spacious rooms, very comfortable beds… everything you need for a great stay. I highly recommend!! Hope to return, and have another lovely stay at the lake!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake Murray in July! We were here for a graduation at Fort Jackson (40 minute drive) but enjoyed multiple full days at the lake as well. The property was beautiful and had pretty much every accommodation and extra you could imagine. Some things we appreciated (that you don't always think of) were extra fans, plenty of food storage containers for leftovers, a gas grill, and the lake "toys" and floats. John was an exceptional host and went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We would definitely recommend!

Could not have asked for a more wonderful place to enjoy a fall vacation—house and amenities were amazing, wonderful location close to restaurants and needed stores, fantastic location on the lake itself with beautiful views, host John was so nice and helpful. We stayed here with our kids (5 and 7) and parents. This property is in the absolute best location on the lake and stocked with everything you need…. Kitchen and bathroom essentials as well as fun water activities! The owners are the nicest folks and very responsive! We will be back and absolute recommend this place!

The Perfect Spot!

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our week here! We usually pack the entire house up but found upon arrival the house had so many things to use: fully stocked kitchen and extra cooking gadgets, kayaks and paddle board, board games, extra pillows, etc! The view of evening Sunsets is amazing. We will be booking again in the future!!

Our family truly enjoyed our time at the lake. This home is well stocked with everything you need to feel “at home.” The House is very clean and spacious. Our daughters enjoyed the room downstairs which gave them a bit of privacy as well. John and Becky are both pleasant to work with. Our family will definitely come back!

Can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay at the Brooks’ house on Lake Murray. It had everything we could possibly need, and that is saying a lot especially since we were there for Thanksgiving. The Brooks went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, and little details such as flowers at the front door, extra wood for the fireplace, chocolates in the candy dish, and a note telling us where to find additional things all made it feel as if we were visiting family. The view onto the lake was gorgeous. We will be sure to return again in the near future!

Awesome Place

The owner makes contact before your stay with all the important information and answers any questions or concerns. The house was very clean and well stocked with cookware it also had outdoor grills. The house has a great view of the lake from the back deck and on the front porch. The neighborhood is very quiet and very little traffic. We all felt like it is a very safe place to stay. This was are second year in a row staying at the house and hopefully it’s not our last.

This was our second time renting this house and we loved it. John and Becky have thought of everything you may need for a relaxing stay. The area is quiet, views fantastic. We know the area well and I don't know that there is a better house, location, amenities, cost or overall experience that you could rent on the lake. Highly recommended and when back in SC this is the house we will plan to stay at! Thank you to the Brooks! PS, we love all the terrier/Wofford items.

Great location with gorgeous view

Our family was in town for our son's wedding. House was exactly as advertised with plenty of space for 6 adults and 2 small dogs. Fantastic amenities for lake fun. Amazing neighbors who are so welcoming and helpful. John, the owner, was terrific and so generous with a time extension allowing time for wedding prep and a Mother's Day celebration. We really appreciated how great John was to work with and that he stayed in communication with us throughout our stay. We would love to make a return trip!

Perfect island home

Can’t be beat, water front and on a little island!! Home has a great layout, dining and sun room that lead out to a large deck with a grill and outside dining. Really nice downstairs bedroom with full bath, and laundry room. Plenty of lake toys to use along with paddle board, kayaks, floating mat, etc… Dock is great for keeping your boat, there is a boat ramp that can be a little tricky to use or you can put in at the marina just a short drive away and drive your boat to the house. Home overlooks a large cove perfect for boating, tubing, skiing, etc and can easily boat to several restaurants on the lake.

Cute house with all the amenities in a gorgeous location.

Family of 5 adults spent Thanksgiving week visiting our USC daughter. The house had everything I needed to prepare and serve a full Thanksgiving dinner. The views out of every window on Amenity Island are serene and beautiful. The drive to USC campus was about 30 minutes and pretty easy. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us but 2 beds are in a basement bedroom that requires you to walk outside to access the main section of the house which was a bit awkward but fine for our adult kids. John was a wonderful host.

Fun Getaway on Lake Murray

Great lakehouse! Lake Murray was lovely and peaceful with fish jumping and birds calling.. John and Becky are so accommodating and responsive. We came with another couple and the accommodations were comfortable, perfect for lake time away. The back deck, front sitting area outside, the sunroom offered variety. And lake toys and floats were plentiful.. We became very comfortable there. The lakehouse is located near restaurants with several nearby towns to explore including Columbia. On a rainy day we toured the State Capitol and visited the SC Museum...well worth it! The 4 D Theatre experience was an addition that was fun and unique. Simply Southern Gifts in Irmo was a cute shop. We were quite happy with our experience and would definitely return.

Perfect lake retreat!

We have rented many homes over the years, in the U.S. and overseas, and this one exceeded even our highest expectations! My husband and I tried to think of one thing this house does not have, and we couldn't! Every detail has been carefully considered to make guests feel welcome, comfortable, and carefree. The water floats and kayaks were in great shape; the kitchen had every imaginable dish, pot, pan, and utensil; the bedding was extremely comfortable, and the house was absolutely spotless. It's a dog-friendly house, but there is no trace of previous dogs! We did take our rescue pup, and he had a blast! The sunsets are spectacular. The hosts are extremely responsive and friendly. We hope to go back soon!

Location and Property are Topnotch!

In general: The home is very well cared for and well stocked with necessities ++. They have tons of cooking supplies not only for the kitchen but for grilling as well as preparing for large crowds. And the toys for boating and lake swimming are added added bonus as well. The dock is well kept and where we spent most of our time. Bedrooms in the home are large and spacious and the basement suite is perfect if you are vacationing with grown/flown children and their SOs. We went to the basement at night and left them upstairs. For boaters: The dock is perfect for docking your boat and the ramp is solid and long (plenty of ramp in the water to back down in as far as you need). There is some skill needed to back down the driveway to access the dock; but doable. We loved the quick access of having the ramp on property. Can't recommend this property enough!

Lake Murray Heaven SC Getaway

We planned a family and close friends' getaway to Lake Murray, SC, months in advance—seven months, to be exact. The anticipation was well worth it, largely thanks to John, who was beyond reasonable in accommodating our needs. The island itself was a tranquil escape. There was ample room around John’s family home, providing the perfect setting for relaxation and outdoor activities. The layout of the property was well thought out, offering plenty of space for both indoor comfort and outdoor fun. One of the highlights for us was the ramp, which worked excellently for our personal boat. It made accessing the lake incredibly convenient and allowed us to maximize our time on the water without any hassle. Our group, known as the 411Marine family, makes it a tradition to travel to different lakes each year. So far, Lake Murray has undoubtedly ranked #1 on our list. The combination of stunning scenery, serene atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality from John and his family made this trip unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to John and his family for allowing us the privilege to stay with them. Lake Murray will certainly be a cherished memory for all of us. Highly recommended!

John and Becky Brooks live in Blythewood SC and spend as much time as possible at this Lake Murray paradise. We personally manage and care for the property and look forward to continually upgrading it for our guests and for ourselves.

We are both in residential real estate sales and property management in the Greater Columbia area.

Why they chose this property

This has been a vacation home for the Brooks family since 1988. We have enjoyed it and hosted friends here for the past 28 years and now for the first time have decided to offer it for vacation rental to share with other families.

Deep water with big views yet protected enough to safely swim and keep boats at the dock.

Convenient location to Columbia. Nice surroundings with 11 homes on a private island with causeway. Huge Oak trees provide shade on the lake side and there is plenty of sunny manicured lawn area as well.
