The outdoor space is awesome and perfect for grilling and having a party. The kitchen is big, but really outdated, not super clean and a bit smelly. the living room and master bedroom are wonderful, but the other rooms were quite lackluster and odd. The beds were comfortable, which is important! Overall a great place, but it should have been spruced up and aired out before we arrived--many dead bugs and the house was really musty. They also need new towels--they were smelly and no washcloths were to be found in the whole house.
Such interesting property. It was lovely, peaceful and perfect. I would recommend a few more things for the kitchen - mixing bowls, dry measures and dish towels - but that’s all minor. It was really fantastic - especially the fireplace in the living room Thank you!
Authentic farm house in beautiful southern Vermont
We really loved staying at this very old farm house - it was truly like turning back time. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and the dining room was large enough for our family to gather 8 people around the table. The claw foot tub was also a treat, and the living room was where everyone naturally gathered to -- a very comfortable space. We spent lots of time around the kitchen table as well, playing cards. We also used the outdoor fire pit to enjoy a beautiful evening sunset after a very rainy day. The Shaftsbury Country Store had some wonderful local ingredients for cooking at home, as well as sandwiches, desserts and other menu items... which made not cooking also an option. The Clark Institute was a wonderful treat as well, for taking in some amazing art, and was just down the road a ways - about a 25 minute drive. Jenna was quick to respond whenever I had a question - and was just really helpful! This house was the perfect place for a large family to stay and enjoy country living. Overall, a really wonderful experience!
