Property is run down. Several deck boards needs replacing. Some of the deck spendals were rotten. Toilet was plugged when we got there. The downstairs patio table was dirty and did not have chairs. The patio table on the desk was filthy. Pathway to the dock was overgrown with shrubs. The downstairs bedroom was moldy and the bed was uneven as it had two different height frames. The sectional in the living room would not stay together. The pieces kept separating making it uncomfortable. I did like the deck going all the way around the house.

Beautiful Home on Crystal River
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. It was decorated nicely and very clean. It was stocked with all necessary items. Our children enjoyed their stay especially being right on the river and the kayaks were a plus! We would recommend this place and would stay here again!

The property is located in a very secluded area on a private road with access to the rivers. Which is awesome, for we travel with kayaks and a lot of gear. The downside was the dirty bedding( we went out to purchase pillows, sheets and blankets. I would be skeptical of VRBO’s stating keep the sheets on the bed.. just saying. The furniture was worn( especially the large leather sofa). For a house with a list of rules a mile long, they should pay attention to some of the basicslike towels and sheets which were pilled and smelled of body order. Believe me I get a fish camp, then have the guests bring their own towels and bedding! Just to end on the positive, explore Rainbow river, just stunning! Fishing on the rivers, was slow but we caught some red fish and saw incredible wildlife, this was in early July. Never got to scallop, maybe next time but not at this property.Oh yes, pack your bug spray for at the house the mosquito are always present due to the standing water surround the property!

This lovely home is well-decorated and very clean. Big flat screen TV,great beds, dock , three kayaks
The all-around veranda on the second floor is a wonderful feature. There is sun when you want it and shade when you choose.Cool ocean breeze at night! Also the backyard has a good dock with a dredged canal for kayak or boat tie-ups. We loved the shore birds and jumping mullet in the water each morning. The neighbourhood is quiet and the home is only five miles from Crystal River. We had A perfect holiday here !

Do not count on the bedroom downstairs
The “bedroom” downstairs is not attached to the main house. It looks like someone poorly converted a garage into a bedroom. The room smelled and we found mildew and mold.
The rest of the house is great. We loved the location and Crystal River.
We had a wonderful stay. The only thing that we didn't like was the owner had the thermostat on a remote nest. He controlled whether we had heat or air in the house. He said to call or email us when we needed it changed. When we woke up in the AM and needed it changed we called him and then he complained we woke his family up.
Enjoyed our stay during Christmas. The house is spacious with large open plan living room + kitchen. Easy check-in and check-out. The host is responsive and helpful. The closest public ramp, Ft Island Trail park is about 6 min from the house. Two large stores, Publix and Walmart about 25 min drive. The 3 Sisters and Hunters Spring park about 15 min drive. Great location, remote but close to town. We had fun swimming with manatees, temperatures dropped so there were plenty of them in the water. Boaters do your research! Salt River is full of shallow places and oyster bars, not the easiest river to navigate. Would stay here again :)

ok
Dishwasher was on the fritz. 3rd bedroom was never found because its location was never mentioned in the promo poop on VRBO. No boating help offered by prop manager.
Maybe he's not a boater; but general advice on getting from a public ramp by boat to the residence would have helped. We managed, thanks to Scott, our neighbor. First trip is always the hardest; we'll be back. Mike

Very clean and convient
My family and I stayed in this house Dec 26-30,2016 (there were 8 of us) The upstairs was perfect. Kitchen was well equipped! (Even the items you never remember) The downstairs was a bit odd......It was big and spacious with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds, but no bathroom. Our plan was for the kids to sleep down there, but out of a 17,16,14, and 12 year old only 3 of them made it down there all week as the 14yr old was weirded out having to go outside and up the steps and into the house, which we had to leave unlocked, go to the bathroom and do it again, so he opted to sleep on the pull out couch all week, If we ever came back to the area we would probably use this same house. We had a slight issue the 1st day and I emailed the honor and had a response in less than 20 minutes. 5 stars!

The downstairs room is a moldy smelly nasty place
The place was overall musty and unclean . There was zero extra sheets or blankets . The owner of the home was rude and not helpful .. he said the room downstairs hadn’t
Been opened for a month and asked me to open it when I got there to air it out .. I did .. it didn’t help . My adult children stayed in there the first night and had to take the sheets off because they said there was con webs in the corners . Luckily they brought a blanket .. we remitted the place to have our who’s family together for Christmas.. we checked out at noon Christmas Eve because they couldn’t sleep another night in there . It sucked !!!! Merry Christmas

The neighborhood is private, quiet, and beautiful. It was nice to walk on the wrap around porch at night to see the stars and the view of the marsh across the street is almost picture perfect if you could take away the power lines. However the canal behind the house is very shallow and it’s a tidal area so you can only get a boat back there with a shallow draft, such as a pontoon. Just beware that because this house is situated in the marsh there are many insects that will get you. The deer flies were the worst for us. The house needs updating. The wrap around porch made of wood is getting brittle and the room downstairs with a bed and bunk beds is very musty. We could not stay in it. And it would be nice if the doors to the living room upstairs were better quality to keep the house cooler and keep the light out. There were no curtains to cover over the big window doors to keep the heat out or at night to close to keep the house secure. The oven in the kitchen also needs to be updated. The oven only has one working element so the food takes longer to bake. shallow draft

Dirty and disappointing
I will start off by saying, read the other reviews of the property! Pete was quick to blame the other renters for their experience, so I wanted to give him and the property a chance and go in with an open mind. Prior to our arrival, I asked Pete if we could have two boat trailers at the house because in the “rules” it says 4 vehicles. So I took that as 4 vehicles. He informed me that actually means a truck and trailer are considered 2 vehicles. There is contradicting information in the rules about boat length and many other things.
I told Pete ahead of time that we were going to have people (one of the children included) staying in the lower room and asked if he could please have the AC turned on ahead of time so the room could “air out”. He did have the window unit on when we arrived but the room was TERRIBLY musty. Our friends said the window unit turned off about every 45 minutes and they had to continually turn it back on all night. The upstairs was so dirty I went to the store and bought cleaning stuff to clean the entire house. Pete is going to say that I never contacted him or the cleaning company about the house being dirty. But I wasn’t about to call him or the cleaning company to come clean the house that was supposed to already be clean. At that point I would rather do it myself so it is done and we can start enjoying our vacation. Honestly I don’t think anyone had even been there to clean prior to our arrival. All of the negative reviews are accurate!

Pristine Nature
This is a great durable house. All tile and hard hardwoods throughout. It has space to breath inside. Actually room for a couple of inflatable mattresses in living room if needed. Great wrap around porch, but not gated for pets. Great access to SUP and kayaking around a very natural marsh. This neighborhood is directly across the street from Twin Rivers Marina road so you have all kinds of boat access. There is also a ramp in neighborhood. It’s a bit off the beaten path, which can be great, but you have a 6 mile drive back to civilization. Wasn’t an issue for us. It’s close to the only beach in the area and Twin Rivers rents boats that can give you access to kings springs. If you are planning to swim with Manatees, go talk to Birds Underwater first. You can rent boats and do it, but you should get educated before you do.
Pros:
1. Off Beaten Path
2. Great for SUP and Kayaking away from people, 3 solid kayaks, paddles and life preservers at house. You need whistles.
3. Spacious inside.
4. Durable surfaces in house for dogs or kids
5. Views are great from house
6. Nice dock for boat and ramps
7. Quiet neighborhood
Cons:
1. Off the beaten path
2. We found smell in added room to be too offensive and couldn’t use room. Owner repeatedly said it was nothing. He should sleep in it! The people that would have stayed in there could stay on blowups in living room.
3. We were here for 8 days and found kitchen a little spartan for cooking.
4. Owner is a bit crusty. Try to avoid having to contact about anything. It’s more like you are a nuesance than a paying guest.
5. Bring pillows, bit old and cheap
Overall it is a cool property that is close to good natural surroundings.
Perfect for our two family getaway with kids and our four legged friends. We were able to bring our own boat and took advantage of the kayaks as well. Close to everything, yet private and woodsy.
First impression was open and nice. Upon settling in we realized the bedrooms have no place to put your clothes. We rented the house for 10 days. One luggage rack for each of the 2 bedrooms. NO dresser in either bedroom, so your clothes lived in a suitcase on the floor. One bed in the second bedroom had a 2x4 supporting it. Tile and grout needed a deep cleaning, We were a group of 7 adults there were 2 wine glasses, the 4 large coffee mugs had cracks and chips in them, and 2 bowls for food preparation. Little black bugs along the wall/ceiling areas which indicates the house was not properly cleaned before our arrival. This area is nice and is around the wetlands so bugs are expected. The deck has rotten areas in it and the downstairs bedroom is diffently musty. The house is in need of TLC. The second bedroom has a piece of laminate flooring missing and the threshold wouldn't stay in place. There was only one medium sized tv, but the internet and cable worked fine. If these areas were addressed it would be a great place for a group. We were a party of 2 families with grown children now who do scalloping every year for at least 15 years. The house was big enough for everyone to be together as well as able to spread out. Boaters be aware the house is located in an area where the marinas will not allow you to rent a boat and keep it at the house. I wrote this review so you would address and hopefully fix the issues because this house has potential.
we did enjoy our stay and the property, quick and easy to get to the gulf or springs if you are some what knowledgeable about the area and understand tides and oyster bars, we left one of our vehicles downtown on Citrus street for 3 days in lieu of trying to pay to park at some other location, we did not know this was an option but one of the park employees said this is what a lot of people do?? we would recommend this house to others, items of concern were the yard was very high, dishes were not cleaned, used wash cloths/towels still in shower, sheets on the hide a bed had not been cleaned, wet sheets were still in dryer, dirty dishwasher, need to check for a leak under the kitchen sink, bags of trash were left in the yard by others previously. down stairs room and toilet had not been cleaned at all.
This was our first visit to the Crystal River area, so we weren't well versed in this location. The home is quite a drive from town. There is nothing in walking distance. If you like calm, quiet, and peace it is a good location. If you have your own boats, you will enjoy also. The neighborhood is very quiet. The trees are very pretty. The home is large and comfortable for a big family. I liked the big kitchen, but it was missing a lot of basic kitchen items (like pit holders, etc)
Like others, we would not recommend anybody sleep in the 3rd bedroom. It is in the garage and has separate entrance to the home. It is very musty. The kayaks are hard to use, and there isn't any maps to show you how to get out of the canal waters. It is not the nicest vrbo home I have stayed in. It is lacking a lot of quality touches other homes have had. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable and there will be nowhere to put your clothes. You will have to live out of the suitcase.
We appreciated the laundry facilities as we spent a lot of time at the beach at the end of the road. The deck was starting to feel a little rickety also. It was fine for our stay and peaceful, but pricey for what it actually offers. I am only comparing to other places that provide little things that always make the stay more personable and cozy.
What a great place. We had 3 couples and there was a perfect amount of room. Very easy to get to and easy to get to attractions from as well. Our dogs stayed and there was a lot of outdoor space for all of us. We cooked all of our meals there, basic utensils supplied, if you are a chef you may want to bring your favorite tools. Sunsets were gorgeous and the weekend was relaxing. Great place for a quiet get away.
So the pictures of this place do not do it justice. We are already talking of a return trip. Great neighborhood, great boat access. Just what we needed to relax.
The house, amenities, and location was just what we were looking for. The owner’s suggestions of things to do and places to eat was of great help in planning our activities. Quiet neighborhood and great location. We would stay here again. Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Pete Vega
Our new family lives just outside of Orlando which is approximately 1.5 hours from Crystal River. We are all Florida natives; Pete grew up in Inverness which is the town next to our vacation condos and why we chose Crystal River. We like the laid back sleepy little town feel and fell in love with the areas springs, specifically Three Sisters. What started as a weekend get a way has turned into a wonderful place we are happy to share.
Why they chose this property
Crystal River is a quiet little town with plenty to offer. The springs are beautiful and less than a 20 minute boat ride from our dock. On any given morning you can see manatees and dolphin swim by our dock, boat or paddle to waterfront restaurants and enjoy the nature preserve in Kings Bay. A 3 mile scenic boat ride takes you to the Gulf of Mexico where there is fantastic fishing, nature viewing and in the summer, scallop harvesting. You will enjoy near by Homosassa Wildlife Park and Indian burial grounds which leave a lot to explore. Golf courses, bike/hiking trails close will allow for an active vacation if desired.
What makes this property unique
We love our Bald Eagle home for several reasons including the quiet neighborhood surrounded by nature. We enjoy the 360 degree wrap-a-round Deck with beautiful views of old Florida and the Salt River as well as the tidal canal and our floating dock and sea wall in the back yard. You will love to open floor plan and the newly remodeled kitchen. It is great for families with the main house on the 2nd level. Covered parking and boat/trailer parking included.
