About this property

Hana Ocean Palms Bungalows

The Hana Ocean Palms Bungalow is located across from one of Hana's most beautiful oceanfront pools - Waioka Pond (Venus Pool). The property is nestled in a coconut palm grove and surrounded by almost an acre of lush tropical flowers, fruit trees and bamboo. Pick avocados, papayas and bananas and gather vegetables and herbs from the garden. This charming bungalow has all the comforts of home including a fully equipped kitchen, a gas grill for barbecuing, high speed internet access, and a phone for local or long distance calls. The master bedroom has a queen bed and the back bedroom has one double, and one twin bed. The bungalow has two screened porches, one with a hammock for an afternoon nap, and the front porch with a queen bed looking out to the ocean. Fall asleep listening to the sea from the screened porch and awaken to the sound of the wind in the palms and birds singing. Original oil paintings by a local artist, warm natural wood and bamboo, luxurious rugs, and bedding throughout.

The bungalow is about one mile from Koki Beach, famous Hamoa Beach, and three miles from quaint Hana town. It is about a 20 to 25-minute drive to 'Ohe'o Pools ('Seven Pools') in the Kipahulu section of Haleakala National Park. The national park has abundant freshwater pools and waterfalls, hiking trails, and a cultural hike to a restored ancient taro farm.

About the host

Host profile image
I have traveled and lived all over the world, and moved to Maui some 25 years ago. Though I lived on the other side of the island, where I did landscape architecture and design, Hana always has had a particular draw. Eight years ago after selling an ocean front house I moved out here. I also am a boat captain and offer sailing charters in the summer in the Pacific Northwest and the inside passage.
I consider myself an artist, teacher and an adventurer.

Why they chose this property

Hana is unique in all of Hawaii and sometimes called the 'Last Hawaiian Place', Once you brave the beautiful Hana Highway, you will find yourself in another world and unlike the rest of the island feel you are truly somewhere else.

What makes this property unique

Aside from the magic in the land here and the Aloha spirit of the people, most visitors feel this to be a very restful and rejuvenating place. Fresh air, beautiful grounds, great sounds and fragrances. You are surrounded by fantastic walks, close to great swimming, stunning scenery and simple nature. The food is delicious. Fresh fruit and vegetables as well as fish are available year around.
