This home is located on the North Olympic Peninsula, midway between the two towns of Port Angeles and Sequim. Nestled along the bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Hunters' Gate Farm sits along the west side of the mouth of McDonnell Creek. Hunters' Gate Farm Guesthouse offers relaxation with privacy and intimacy. The entire property and grounds are at your disposal. There are several wooded trails that lead to waterfront look-outs where you will want to sit and reflect on the natural surroundings, the native plants, the birds, wildlife, passing ships, the sunsets or the peace and quiet of the property itself. You will enjoy a sumptuous night's sleep as you listen to the waves and enjoy the high end mattresses and luxurious, hand ironed, high thread count linens. Contemporary finishes, high end appliances, and comfortable decor, surrounded by nature.
Our newly constructed Guesthouse was the family home for 33 years before it was mostly destroyed by fire in 2012. The original foundation and outer cement walls are concrete block. Now, within those familiar walls we feel a sense of tradition and timelessness. Reconstruction completed in 2019 which was a lengthy effort but well worth the work and wait to save a much loved home.
The outdoor features include nature trails, lawns and patios, BBQ gas grill, and picnic table. There are gardens, orchards, fields, and grassy areas all within the water view. Our flock of laying hens reside in the barn with the peacocks, and are fun to view from the outside. There is an outside greenhouse and a sunroom for sitting surrounded by indoor plants.
You will enjoy our private beach trail which is a gated, five minute hike with some large steps which are not easily navigated by small children or inexperienced hikers. Once down to the bottom you will be rewarded with a beautiful beach where the fresh creek water forms a lagoon that spills out into the salt water Strait of Juan de Fuca. You can walk and beach comb to the Dungeness Spit or head in a westerly direction toward Port Angeles. We are only a 10 minute bike ride to the Olympic Discovery Trail, which you can get to using our bicycles provided for guests.
The quaint little neighborhood store, Agnew Grocery & Feed, is only a five minute drive away, offering fresh local produce and a large selection of wine and other refreshments besides the basic grocery items. Sunny Farms Country Store is only ten minutes away where you'll find a larger variety of items including a deli and a fresh fish and meat market.
There are four restaurants all within a ten minute drive which are all highly recommended. If you want to venture further away, both Sequim and Port Angeles each only a twenty minute drive offer many more choices for shopping and dining.
The start of the road up to Hurricane Ridge and the Olympic National Park is a short twenty minute drive. You can plan longer day trips to the Pacific Ocean and the Hoh Rainforest and return after your adventure to our quiet, restful, tranquil treasure, the Hunters' Gate Farm Guesthouse.

This farmhouse on the bluff was beyond what we could have imagined. A serene and beautiful space and experience. The love put into this abode is clear from the peaceful tea room to the wonderful trail down to the lagoon and beach. We will be returning with our grown kids next year.
This is a truly spectacular place to stay. There is a herd of deer living on the property. There are chickens and peacocks which my children loved to watch. The house is full of light and had everything we needed during our stay. The property manager was very responsive and kind. The nature trails and private beach made the whole experience feel like we were staying in a nature sanctuary.
This guest house is wonderful! Great location between Sequim and Port Angeles and very nice and private. My kids enjoyed the herd of deer and visiting the chickens. The beach walk is an adventure but we loved it too! We’d love to come again!
We had a wonderful time. The guest house and grounds are beautiful. Check in was very easy. This is a very peaceful and relaxing place. We enjoyed the nature trails and seeing the deer and peacocks on the property.
Property was excellent, super clean, comfortable, and quiet. The grounds were awesome and offered cliff side views of the strait, walking paths, and lots of wildlife.
We had an amazing stay! The home was absolutely beautiful, spotless, and filled with high-end finishes that made it feel so luxurious. Every day we enjoyed watching deer right in the yard—such a peaceful treat! The landscaping was gorgeous, and the views were breathtaking from every angle. Truly a perfect getaway—we can’t wait to come back
The kitchen was stunning because it had windows all around, and you could see the deer grazing in the yard. A kitchen was well set up. It was very quiet and a nice stroll through the apple Orchard to the coast for a view of the street was icing on the cake.
A really beautiful spacious guest house! Nice path to ocean views. Conveniently located in Sequim near Port Angeles. Super clean and well equipped. Our host replied promptly to any of our questions.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The property grounds are breathtaking and the guest house was extremely clean, well-appointed and comfortable. We explored the grounds every night and found something new every time. We greatly enjoyed our interactions with the owner and her property manager as well. Easily the best vacation rental I have ever stayed at.
Absolutely excellent stay! The property was clean and cozy. We had everything we needed inside. The paths near the house were fun to explore, especially the beach trail! My kids loved the chickens, peacocks, and deer family that live on the property. It's an easy drive to everything Olympic National Park has to offer. Can't wait to go back!
This place has it all. We loved our stay here. The location is beautiful and near Port Angeles and Olympic National Park. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed. This house was a great communicator. The trails around the property were so nice. We enjoyed watching the sunset on a beautiful private beach . We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
The home is beautiful, very clean, a quiet setting. We are all over 70 with some mobility issues so getting to the beach wasn’t an option for us but we enjoyed the patio and lovely landscaping.
So, so wonderful. We stayed at this property for 5 days and loved it. Great access to Olympic National Park and a short distance to Port Angeles. It was so cool to look one way and see the water and then the other way and see the mountains. The house was spotless and well laid out for me, my wife and our grandson. We loved walks on the nature trails to see the water and bald eagles! We will absolutely love to come back here again.
The beds were comfortable and the interior very clean with interesting asian decor. Our granddaughter loved the chicken coup. The path to the ocean was rugged but doable. The ocean overlook was beautiful. The family of deer that apparently lived on the farm were very entertaining. We wouldn't hestitate to stay there again!
Everything about our experience was excellent. Beautiful home and property.

We feel very fortunate to be able to live in one of the most beautiful and unique spots on the North Olympic Peninsula and to be able to share it with travelers seeking to experience the beauty and wonders of this special area. We are located on several acres of land, partially farmland, partially woodland on the high bank waterfront bluff along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Our views are of the majestic Olympic mountain range to the south and of Vancouver Island, B.C. to the north. Having a wooded creek as our eastern boundary, we are able to provide the unique access pathway to the beach below. All of our several vacation rental homes enjoy the use of this same five minute hiking trail which is the most treasured feature of our properties. Wildlife abounds in this natural habitat where deer, eagles, river otter, seals and more are seen as an every day occurrence. We work daily at our other businesses where we sell home improvement products such as appliances, flooring, cabinets etc. We strive to have all of our vacation homes reflect our enthusiasm for inviting, quality interiors so that our guests feel truly welcome and at home while they stay in our homes.
Why they chose this property
We have lived on this acreage for many, many years and have gradually developed several vacation rentals on it over the past few years. We love this beautiful land and try to keep it looking it's best for everyone who comes to visit so that they will enjoy it as much as we do.
