The Compass Rose House is one of our 2 separate vacation rental homes on over 10 acres, all with stunning Olympic Mountain views.

These secluded homes offer you a haven to explore all the diversity the Olympic Peninsula has to offer. Roam our lush lupine covered meadows, see Bald Eagles and Blue Heron and have easy access to the Olympic National Park as well as all the city amenities. This is the best of all worlds for a northwest experience.

It is very gratifying to learn how thrilled our guests are with our beautifully crafted homes and the gorgeous surroundings. Nearly every guest says our homes far exceed their expectations and they wished they had planned on staying longer. We enjoy providing our guests with local tips and advice on how to take advantage of all the incredible wonders of the Olympic Peninsula. This house was above expectations, in that the location was perfect. A peaceful retreat with an amazing view. Thankful the hot tub was working and clean. The house clean warm and inviting. We burned a fire everyday. And for our family the kitchen had what we needed however the coffee k-cup didn’t work but in turn a regular Mr.Coffee worked great. And a great selection of games however we brought a couple of our own card games (Nertz and Uno No Mercy) we spent some hours playing Scrabble. Laughter and memories to treasure. Can’t wait for our next visit. Thank you

This was our second time staying in this home and will not be our last. It is a little slice of Heaven. Loved the visits from the deers and hares. Views in clear days cannot be beat. Super comfy beds and well stocked kitchen. Always a bonus to have laundry as well! Can’t wait to be back.

We had a glorious 4-day stay at the Compass Rose with our family of six. Our kids loved sleeping in the loft, and we loved the privacy of the downstairs bedroom. Lots of space in the kitchen and family room. We all enjoyed the hot tub, and watching wildlife around the property. Close enough to Sequim and Port Angeles, but feels like you're in a secluded cabin. We would highly recommend the Compass Rose for families looking for a private retreat.

A peaceful haven on the Olympic Peninsula

Our whole family loved this house & its surroundings. We all slept so well on the comfortable beds and loved the fact that this property is situated on a beautiful piece of land, but is still only minutes from Port Angeles and the park. The hot tub on the back patio is not to be missed. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need to prepare meals & the stereo system provides great music which adds to the ambiance. This place is fabulous and has the most lovely vibe. It was a great spot for our girls' weekend. Loved the fireplace, loads of natural light and comfy living area that was perfect for catching up over wine. Loft dwellers...be extra cautious on those ladder stairs, especially when making nighttime treks to the first-floor bathroom! :-)

Hi, I'm Cameron and welcome to the Compass Rose. This house was built by my family and friends. I am currently out sailing for myself and for others. Please feel free to enjoy my home while I am out on adventure. I hope this will be a great stop on your life's next great adventure. While I am away my friend Frank will be your host. He has been living and exploring the Olympic Peninsula and the world his whole life and is a great source of for anything you need on your next adventure

Why they chose this property

My family had a vision for over 30 years of a family compound where we could live and share a beautiful natural environment. They travelled the Pacific Rim, New Zealand and Canada in search of that place. When they found this place over 10 years ago it felt like they had found our place.

The Olympic Peninsula provides a remarkable natural beauty of almost every sort. We climb mountains and get into areas with pristine glaciers and lakes and see bear and goats and deer, and a huge variety of birds. We love to find waterfalls that few people have found and explore the rainforest mysteries summer and winter. We surf the waves as we explore the beaches which have unusual pinnacles and formations, and we collect driftwood and bask on the white sand. We take our family picnicking on the beautiful clear rivers where they often catch Steelhead or Salmon. Skiing and snowboarding and several winter sports are a big attraction. And always, we make sure visitors get into the exceptional Olympic National Park.

We take great pride in the home we offer to you with meticulous detail. I designed the Compass Rose House and my family all built it together. Some refer to it as 'elegant camping' since you feel like you are almost out of doors with the openness the home has to all the surroundings. You have all the luxuries for truly comfortable living; excellent beds and linen and great cooking facilities--even the best of organic local herbs.
Our specialty in life has been to enjoy and appreciate nature and to help others have that passion too. And that is witnessed in our lovely property and the beautiful homes we have blended with the natural environment. For those who want privacy, we provide it. For those who want a serene and restorative Northwest experience, we provide that. Our homes are surrounded by meadows, with majestic trees lining the edges and wildflowers. We have tried to make nature available and enjoyable out of every window and from every deck. Our hot tubs are outside so you can view the stars. You can see the Olympic Mountains in all their array from nearly every window. We want to touch people, to leave a lasting memory of enjoyment and rejuvenation, to have an infectious experience that compels them to want to pass on the importance of our natural resources to everyone.
