About this property
Large Stylish Villa close to the Sea Sleeps 10, Panoramic Sea Views and Pool
Villa Amare - romantically named from the Latin word 'love' - is a very large villa with the benefit of being just a 100 metre stroll downhill to the sea and the friendly Kalkan Beach Club. From here you can swim and snorkel in crystal clear turquoise waters, from beach platforms.
The villa has a beautiful large lounge with doors that open onto your own private swimming pool. By the pool there is a charming outdoor dining area with a stone built BBQ, made by a local craftsman. Here you can dine under the stars - the ultimate in relaxation. If you don't fancy doing your own cooking a local chef will come and create a meal for you! All five bedrooms are (unusually for Turkey) very spacious and all have generous en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower. There are three bedrooms with king size beds and two with twin beds, ideal for two families or couples sharing. All but one bedroom have large balconies.
40"' TV with satellite channels, a DVD, CD player with iPod docking. NEW FOR 2011 free Wi-fi New for 2015 - a table tennis table. We also include a basic welcome pack in your rental rates.
Around Kalkan: Kalkan by day is sleepy and relaxed but comes to life in the evening when you are treated to a seemingly endless array of lovely restaurants! Kalkan has a pretty pebble beach with sunbeds, or you can go to one of the many beach clubs, the nearest just down the hill from villa Amare.
A cruise from the harbour is an absolute must! For a modest price you and friends can have a wonderful day cruising around the islands, swimming and snorkelling, with a home cooked lunch included. Highly recommended.
Patara National Park and Beach - Patara boasts an amazing 15 km sandy beach, voted one of the top beaches in the world by Times on-line. The beautiful and ancient ruins of the city of Patara, a major trading port in ancient Lycia, are on the same site. Home of the endangered loggerhead turtles..
Around Kalkan: Saklikent Gorge and fall
Xanthos
An elaborate rock tomb in Pinara
Other ancient archaeological sites include Xanthos and Letoon - a UNESCO world heritage site, and Pinara, an ancient city with a unique atmosphere and many cut rock tombs.
If you like walking or hiking do try at least some of the famous Lycian Way, a 509 km marked path which cuts through Lycia passing through stunning scenery.
Lovely waterfalls and gorge at Saklikent, and you can enjoy a fresh trout lunch there for a very modest price.
Horse riding is available at Bezigan, a pretty village in a valley.
Around Kalkan: Kas, a beautiful harbour town with historic buildings.
Patara, an archaeological site once a prominent Lycian city and port.
The pretty Greek island of Meis
Markets are on a Thursday in Kalkan and Friday in Kas. Kas is also a very pretty place to visit from where you can catch a ferry to the old Greek island of Meis. You will need your passport.
Diving is available from a professional school in Kalkan.
There is a small shop just a short walk up the hill from your villa. Kisla also has several restaurants within walking distance. Taxis are plentiful. You can get a boat ride to Kalkan from the beach club just down the hill!
Car and scooter hire is available locally. The local buses - dolmus—literally meaning stuffed! - are cheap and plentiful to all destinations.

About the host
Hosted by Mrs. Amanda Skinner

We are a couple from Kent who have been visiting Kalkan on and off for many years before purchasing this villa in Kisla for ourselves and our large family to enjoy. Having four children and two grandchildren, Amare is perfect for family holidays. Kisla is quieter than Kalkan and has its' own friendly Beach club, just minutes down the hill, and also several delightful restaurants and a shop. The convenient water taxi from the beach club makes it easy to go across the bay to Kalkan.
Why they chose this property
We loved Amare for its views which are uninterupted, and for its proximity to the sea. Kalkan is very steep and many villas are actually quite a distance from the sea. We have the best of both worlds with the sea on our doorstep and a pool to cool off in.
What makes this property unique
A cooling breeze in summer, proximity to the beach, beautiful panoramic views. Unusually large bedrooms all beautifully tiled in soft travertine, and en-suite bathrooms to every bedroom. The extra relaxing entrance terrace with comfy local sofas is a treasure, as it adds another area for guests to relax in. This is a perfect spot for pre dinner drinks in the evening with friends, listening to Bob's lazy jazz wafting down the hill from his restaurant. The heady scent of the night scented Meluah shrub is magical. This terrace also has a table tennis table for a bit of fun exercise!
