Thanks for spending part of your Spring, Summer, or Fall at the Cabin. Over the years I have found the Cabin to be a wonderful, quiet retreat. Traverse City has grown tremendously over the past few years, yet the Cabin and property have not changed much at all. Even though people continue to build throughout the area, you still see geese and loon in the early spring, hear owl during quiet nights, and see deer in the water in late fall.
The Cabin is a special place. It is a unique combination of a rustic log cabin and a modern furnished home, on a beautiful piece of property near a busy Traverse City. Please do not expect to be staying at the Grand Traverse Resort, or the Holiday Inn. The Cabin definitely has its own character. Not all the windows have screens, the driveway is not paved, and the chipmunks will join you during your morning coffee. But give the Cabin a few days, and I think you will feel what I feel, and you may be a little disappointed that time is going by so quickly. Enjoy it while you're there.
Individuals and couples only. Pet friendly. Minimum three night stay required.
Thanks again. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to forward them to me through the VRBO website.
Have a great time!!

The cabin was situated on a peninsula which offered privacy and a beautiful view. The cabin was complete everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely stay there again.
My wife and I had a great stay with our dog over the memorial day weekend. It was close enough to downtown traverse to enjoy the city, but far enough away to be able to relax. Such a charming and cozy cottage and Dr. Ed was extremely helpful!
We had an amazing stay at 'The Cabin'. It was peaceful, quiet, and had a cozy feel to it. Everything was clean and the location was wonderful with the lake access. I highly recommend staying here and m husband and I will be renting again soon. Ed was also a very attentive host who made us feel welcome. Thank you!
We spent a few nights at "The Cabin" and loved it all. The setting was idyllic and everything was as described. Tons of woodpeckers (even pileated!) and other wildlife. Really appreciated being able to bring the pups who enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for sharing the Cabin with others!
The cabin is perfect. Nestled in trees surrounded by a lovely clear quiet lake, birds, squirrels, chipmunks and many trees. All the necessities you may need are included in the cabin. The bed is comfy as is the couch. It was just what we were looking for. Tranquility and the best nature and a kind homeowner can grace us with.
The cabin was very well equipped and cozy . We enjoyed relaxing outside by the lake watching the birds and ducks and took the rowboat out with our little dog. Dr Ed went out of his way to check in with us and fill us in on the cabin etc . It is a charming cabin with pretty views of the lake yet close to downtown traverse city. Thank you we did not want to leave :)
What an amazing time spent at Dr Ed’s cabin! The experience was like going back to a family vacation home. Having use of row boat and kayak was a nice treat. The cabin is well stocked and clean. Comfy and cozy! We will be back to this hidden treasure! Thank you
This cabin was everything I was looking for and more! It is away from cities in a beautiful wooded area with water on 3 sides. A nice grocery store is not far away as are restaurants for take-out or dining. The little gas stove with realistic logs/flames made the cabin so cozy on a couple of chilly evenings in the fall. Dr. Haak has added many nice touches to make it feel homey. I’ll be back!!!
We just returned from a magical 4 nights at The Cabin. The cabin sits on a penisula with water on 3 sides- creating so much privacy and peace. We loved watching all the birds, especially the Pileated Woodpeckers that visited daily. Ed is a great host and check in during our stay to make sure we had what we needed. 4 days was not enough. It was hard to leave this morning and cant wait to return!
Great location, beautiful scenery, on small inland Lake!
The cabin is really charming, set back on a wooded peninsula right on a small lake. We enjoyed having coffee on the deck, and using the small outdoor fire pit, there is a picnic table and a grill to cook out. Everything was fantastic!
It’s a great location with a dog, as there are no nearby neighbors on the peninsula. So the dog could wander and explore the area around the cabin.
The interior of the cabin has everything you need, it’s quaint and well kept. Dr. Ed has it stocked with the essentials.
We stayed at Ed’s cabin for a long weekend in late October and weren’t disappointed. The colors on the lake were absolutely stunning and more than we could have hoped for. The kitchen is well stocked and everything is very clean and organized. We really enjoyed our stay and are hoping to come back again when we can properly dip our toes into the lake. Would absolutely recommend this location for a couple or party of two. Super dog friendly. 15 minute drive from Traverse City. Easy to get to and very convenient.
We LOVED staying at Dr. Ed's Cabin!!!! It was everything and more than we ever dreamed of -- private, serene, clean -- and a very special place. It felt like stepping back in time but with all the conveniences of today. We loved watching all the birds at the bird feeder -- woodpeckers, nuthatches, tufted titmouse to name a few, and hearing the loons in the morning was amazing.
We hope to get back again next summer -- we live in Bellingham Washington but it's worth the trip -- thank you Dr. Ed for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!
The Cabin at Chandler Lake was amazing! Just as advertised. Simple, quaint and comfortable. Everything you may need is provided. We have stayed in many VRBO properties and this one may be our favorite! It had the best kitchen set up we have come across. A gas stove! Love that! The gas fireplace was great too. Gave the place a nice ambiance but you could just shut it off when not needed. The location is ideal. Very secluded and right on the water yet very accessible to Traverse City and any shopping you might need. Great lake with super clear water. Great for swimming and fishing. Dogs loved it. Fishing was good right off the dock/shore. Keep it simple! A bobber and night crawler did the trick. Ed was great to deal with. Very thorough in his communication. The only problem we have with the place is that it is not our! Really hope to visit again soon.
Small but quaint cabin on the water. 25 minutes from EVERYTHING...perfect location. Well stocked with all the essentials. Quiet, safe neighborhood. Excellent communication from host. We'll definitely be back when we come to Traverse City.
This property is absolutely perfect for a peaceful, relaxing vacation. The setting is serene, and the cabin is cozy and inviting. The information on nearby restaurants and activities that was supplied by the owner was very helpful. We wouldn't change a single thing about this amazing retreat.
This property exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival we immediately felt relaxed. It is very private and comfortable, and although we did venture out a few times to explore the beautiful greater traverse city area, truthfully there is no reason to leave. We plan to return!
