More About Our Place:
This beautiful, well appointed, but rustic, home let's you feel like you are in the wilderness of Montana while still enjoying all of the amenities of modern living. The open floor plan allows for large gatherings of friends and family in its over 2200 square feet and rests on 2.5 acres of private, wooded land. On the main floor, which is approximately 1300 square feet, you will find the great room with towering, 23' high cedar tongue and groove ceilings with a rock fireplace flanked by beautiful, large windows facing the front of the property for plenty of natural light. Above the mantel a unique, 13' piece of cotton wood sets center stage. One the opposing walls you will find unique artifacts such as a Grizzly bear rug from Alaska and skis and snowshoes made by the owner’s grandfather.

The master suite is also located on this level and features a custom, private bath with a 5' x 5' walk in double headed shower all in travertine marble with river rock accents running through it. The custom poured concrete counter top features a raw edge and local stone inlays. From the master king sized 12' memory foam bed you can look out the French doors and view the natural landscape or step out onto the deck to enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Also on the main floor you will find the dining room and gourmet kitchen. The dining room can seat at least 12 with the additional table set up and has an 8' picture window to enjoy the wooded acreage. A 10' blue pine bar separates the dining area from the kitchen so guests can sit and visit while meals are prepared or it is a great place for children to enjoy a snack. The kitchen features all stainless appliances, custom concrete countertops with fossil inlays, a marble island and custom knotty alder cabinetry. A half bath and separate laundry closet with a stackable washer and dryer for guest use are located off the kitchen as well.

To get to the loft you ascend a beautiful 4' wide, open staircase from the great room. The loft is nearly 900 square foot and features a TV/family area; two private bedrooms with a shared full bath and semi-private office space that has alternate sleeping on a futon. One of the loft bedrooms has two double beds and the other has a single queen bed. The office does have a computer for guest use and Wi-Fi is also available for your own devices.

The TV area features a large, flat screen smart TV. The house and decks are also wired for sound. There are five speaker zones - two on the deck, one in the master, one in the kitchen/dining room and one in the loft. You can listen to the satellite TV or your own favorite sounds throughout the house or in each zone separately.

The house does feature over 600 square feet of covered cedar deck to enjoy as well as a gas barbeque for preparing meals. The deck is approximately 4' from ground level and features a custom turned railing. In front of the deck is a 2900 square foot lawn, regulation horse shoe pit as well as a custom fire ring made by Great Falls artist, Bruce Vasser. While there I invite you to spend at least one night outside star gazing. It is phenomenal.

For parking you will find an easy access u-shaped gravel drive with plenty of parking. If you have RV's, boats, trailers or other large vehicles please make sure to disclose that at booking.

We do not have curbside pick up of trash, but a drop station that is wildlife proofed is not located too far from the house.

The property is nestled on nearly 2.5 acres in the beauty of Glacier National Park's back door, just 2 miles from your front door to the west entrance of the park. If GNP wasn't enough you are just 27 miles from the quaint galleries and shops of Whitefish; 32 miles to the Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort, one of the premier ski areas in the west; 22 miles from the Glacier International Airport: and approximately 1.5 miles from the Amtrak rail station. It truly is a little slice of paradise year round.

The summer of 2020 we opened up our 730 square foot basement mother-in-law's suite that features a studio style apartment complete with a full bathroom and kitchenette. The mother-in-law's suite features a king bed and can be rented for an additional $150 a night not including taxes and cleaning fees. If you are interested in this option please contact us immediately after booking to add the basement apartment. Images of that space have been added to our profile images.

I know you will not be disappointed in your stay. It is a beautiful home in an amazing area. If you any questions please do not hesitate to call or email.

I have also recently acquired my Dad's house on Blanchard Lake four miles from downtown Whitefish. It is quaint, small, rustic cabin. The house features two small bedrooms and a full bath in the 735 square foot home. Seasonally it has an additional guest house that can be added. Please check out Papa's Place at www.vrbo.com/1696404.

When planning your trip we highly recommend checking out the Glacier Park website. It has valuable information on trail and road openings/closings and conditions. The main road through the Park, Going-to-the-Sun, is usually open to Logan Pass by late June, early July. Please visit the GNP website for more information and the latest entry protocols.

My family has a long history in the area spanning back to the late 1800's on both sides but I just returned to the area in 2008. I bought the property in 2009 and have been working on it since. I currently work in Great Falls and finished the house in the spring of 2012 and look forward to sharing my dream with you and yours. West Glacier and Glacier National Park are truly stunning and I hope you will find our home comfortable, inviting and inspiring. I am an artist/teacher hope my unique sensibilities highlight the beauty of the area and nature.

Why they chose this property

The area is stunning and my rich family history brought a sense of kinship with canyon, the Bob Marshal Wilderness, the Great Bear, and, of course, Glacier National Park, the Crown Jewel of the Continent.

What makes this property unique

My home is situated on nearly 2.5 wooded acres with a clearing in the center providing you a sense of seclusion while still being close enough to others that there is a sense of safety. It is just a hop skip and a jump to area attractions including the Amazing Fun Center, restaurants, bars, a grocery store, bakery, rafting, helicopter tours, etc.
