About this property
Green House Under the Oaks Near Weeki Wachee Springs & Cabot Farms Golf Course
Located right between Withlacoochee State Forest and historic Brooksville, this storybook inspired home will be a getaway you won’t forget. From a serene plant themed room to the soothing freestanding bathtub immersed by the outdoors this home is perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring in the springs, hiking the forest, or a day on the golf course. With amenities like a pour over or a traditional coffee maker, a peaceful hammock swing overlooking the back property, WiFi, AC/heater, and a tiny playground for your kids you will feel right at home. We'll be available to answer any questions while you stay at our place and will always have someone within a short distance of a drive if any issues may arise. Feel free to shoot us a message if you have any questions or requests!
The space Outside:
This is a 50 year old home built on a 1.6 acre property. It is backed up to a 100 acre wetland, so we see all kinds of wildlife (no gators yet). Just spend 30 minutes outside reading a book in the evening and chances are you will hear several owls in the trees above. We have enjoyed many hours watching the squirrels jumping from tree to tree or deer grazing out back.
There is a large deck in the back with a grill to enjoy your time outside.
Inside:
The “green room”, which doubles as a bedroom (the couch is a futon), really sets the tone for the whole house. Come here to relax and sit with the plants.
Enjoy a farmhouse sink overlooking the property. Our large kitchen is stocked with all the basic utensils and cookware. There is PLENTY of room in the pantry so bring whatever food you need to!
The master bedroom and half bath take the entire second floor. Here you will find a king size bed and a sitting area. The spiral stairs leading up can be a bit cumbersome for some, as they are narrow and steep; so make arrangements accordingly. There is a small walk-in closet; this is the only place in the home we do have a few things stored but there is still plenty of room to hang all your clothes.
The second bedroom (with stripes on the wall) has a queen mattress and dresser.
*The living room has been updated with pull down blinds on all the windows, as well as a privacy film on the plant room window. The downstairs bedroom has curtains. The kitchen half windows near the sink do not have any curtains because we truly believe they take away from the serene beauty of the backyard view, as well as the upstairs French doors do not. In all our years of living here we’ve never once been concerned for privacy or had any issues. We want you to feel immersed with the nature around you just as we once were!
Note: to sleep 6 people you will want to use the queen size air mattress that we provide.
Guest access:
Guests have access to most of the property. We do have another rental on the property, a small retro style camper. It is secluded from this house though you can see it through the trees (see photos of the deck). You are welcome to explore beyond the clearing in the back of the property but stay to the right side as there isn’t a clear boundary between our property and our neighbors’.
Other things to note:
There are free range chickens on the property that roam the area, so don’t leave food outside unattended.
The house is old so be patient with some of its quarks i.e. unlevel areas of the floor or light switches that go to nothing 🤔😃
While this is a rural home, we don’t want to lead anyone to believe this is completely secluded. There is a house about 100’ away. Our neighbors to the side of us enjoy their outdoor space just as much as we do ours so we ask that you be respectful and avoid excessively loud music or yelling. The house itself is pushed back pretty far off of a (at times busy) road as well.
