Steeple Hill Flats offers two modern hotel-style suites nestled into the Bayfield hillside overlooking downtown and the breathtaking Lake Superior, Apostle Islands, and the Madeline Island Ferry. The Upper Flat, located up a single flight of stairs on the second level, offers gorgeous views with a private balcony. Abundant in windows and natural light, this airy suite offer guests a chance to relax and rewind. Steeple Hill Flats is located in a quiet residential area, a short walk from the Madeline Island Ferry Line and everything downtown Bayfield has to offer.
There is Queen bed and twin trundle beds around the corner down a hallway. Spalike amenities with large soaking tubs, luxurious robes, bath salts and Lake Superior views. Eating area offers a mini fridge with freezer, microwave, standard drip coffee maker, and a small table and chairs. Linens, towels and basic toiletries provided. Beach towels NOT included. There is a SmartTV and internet in the unit allowing accessibility to login to your own streaming channels, there is no cable.

WELCOME! Thank you for choosing our cozy vacation property in beautiful Bayfield, Wisconsin — the gateway to the Apostle Islands! We’re thrilled you are here and we want your stay to be relaxing, enjoyable, and full of wonderful memories.
Please treat this property like your own home (or like grandma is watching). These house rules could be summed up by simply saying: Take care of your friends and family. Clean up after yourself. Don’t break things. Be safe. Appreciate the amazing world around you.
Unfortunately, humanity has repeatedly proven that in order to keep everyone safe, protect the home for future guests, respect our neighbors, and ensure we stay in compliance with our governmental overlords (Wisconsin State Lodging Code (ATCP 72), Bayfield County Short-Term Rental Ordinance, and the local fire/municipal codes), we are legally required to put the following in writing.
1. Check-In & Check-Out Check-in: After 4:00 PM Check-out: By 10:00 AM A detailed welcome guide with codes, WiFi information, and helpful instructions will be available in your guest portal. If you’re arriving late, please let us know through the portal when you complete your online check-in form - we want to make sure you arrive and get into the unit without issue.
Checkout Procedures
Thank you for helping us get the home ready for the next guests! Here’s what we ask: - Leave by 10:00 AM so our cleaning team has enough time to prepare the property. If you need a late checkout please reach out the day before you checkout for approval - we will do our best to accommodate all requests. Late check-out fees may apply. - Wash & sanitize any glassware you may have used. Supplies are under the bathroom sink. - Take all trash and recycling to the designated canisters outside the front door of the building-near the garage. - Check inside all drawers, check under the bed, check inside fridge, etc. to ensure you have all your belongings - Turn off all lights. - Leaves fans on low. - COLD MONTHS: Sept/Oct through April: Set heat to 68 using thermostat. (Do not use minisplit/remote during the cold months). - WARM MONTHS: May through Sept: Set air conditioning to 72 with remote. - Close and lock all windows and doors - unit and exterior door touch bottom of the keypad to lock upon departure

2. Maximum Occupancy & Guests - Maximum overnight guests: 4 (based on bedding and local ordinances). - Day visitors are welcome but limited to no more than 2 at any time and must follow all house rules. - No recreational vehicles, campers, tents, trailers, or additional lodging on the property.
3. Quiet Hours & Respect for Neighbors - Quiet hours: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM daily (including weekends and holidays). - Please keep noise to a respectful minimum at all times — no loud music, shouting, or gatherings that might disturb our neighbors. - Fireworks are not permitted at any time.
4. Smoking & Vaping - This is a 100% smoke-free and vape-free property — inside and outside (including porches, decks, and yard). - Violation will result in a minimum $300 deep-cleaning fee.
5. No Pets - No pets of any kind are allowed. - If you have a service animal, please contact us in advance so we can make appropriate accommodations.
6. Parties & Gatherings - No parties (including togas), events, weddings, receptions, or large gatherings. - Small, quiet family gatherings are fine as long as they stay within occupancy limits and quiet hours.
7. Parking - Spaces available for 1 vehicles in the guest parking area near the entrance to the building (1 spot for each unit)
8. Bikes, Motorized Items & EV Charging No bikes or motorized items (including e-bikes, scooters, motorcycles, etc.) are permitted inside the house or unit. - EV Charging Policy: We do not have a dedicated EV charger on the property. Plugging electric vehicles into any household outlets is not permitted due to safety and insurance reasons. Public EV charging stations are available in downtown Bayfield (approximately 1 mile away).
9. ATVs, UTVs & Snowmobiles - These vehicles are not allowed at this property. We certainly welcome you to bring your toys, but there is not enough space in the parking area for trailers, etc. You are welcome to park on the side streets. Check local maps and ordinances for nearest trail access.
10. Trash, Recycling & Septic System - Use the provided trash and recycling bins inside the unit during your stay. - Please do not flush wipes, feminine products, diapers, paper towels, grease, or food scraps down the toilets or drains (our septic/sewer system thanks you!). - At the end of your stay, please take all trash and recycling to the designated canisters outside near the steps
11. “Kitchennette”, Grill & Appliances - Clean up after every use - Use appliances for their intended purpose. - There is no grill or fire pit at this property.
13. General House Rules - Please remove shoes at the door. - Do not move furniture. - Please do not bring linens or towels outside (especially to the beach.) - Please don’t climb on roofs, railings, trees etc. - Please don’t be the reason we need to make new rules
14. Safety & Emergencies - Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms are installed and functioning — please do not disable them. If they are chirping due to a low battery, please notify us immediately (no one wants to listen to this all night). - A fire extinguisher is located in the hallway of the building. - On the back of your room door. - In case of emergency: Call 911 first, then contact us. 24/7 Emergency Contact: Windseeker Rentals
15. Damage, Breakages & Cleaning - We know accidents happen, especially when we’re having fun. Please report any damage, spills, or issues to us immediately (before checkout). This allows us to properly prepare to fix issues before the next guest checks in) - Please use appliances and amenities as they are intended. We are certain that you are intelligent enough to know that toaster ovens shouldn’t be used as stepstools and vacuum cleaners shouldn’t be used to split firewood. Please don’t prove us wrong. You are responsible for any damage beyond normal wear and tear. - We include professional cleaning in your rate, but excessive mess may result in additional fees.
Final Note By booking and staying with us, you and your party agree to these house rules, the rental agreement, and all applicable local and state regulations. The property is very nice, we enjoyed the view from the balcony, the walking distance to the shops, the deep bathtub, and the room decor. Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived.
Great little flat with nice views. Loved the tub! Property was clean with nice balcony overlooking the town and the lake. Convenient to the town of Bayfield and short drive to various adventures, hiking and local businesses. Will definitely rent again!
When I arrived, it had followed a snowstorm which brought a lot of snow and so I could see the parking area was not plowed. When I contacted the mgmt, he had a quick response and set me up in a different unit that was a block away. They informed me of a tree lighting event in the community, which I attended and enjoyed. The place was very clean and comfortable. The view was pretty.
Only thing I would suggest is a small dresser or cabinet type thing to put clothes in, otherwise they are just on the floor. Especially for the multiple nights most people will stay. Otherwise everything was great! Very relaxing, beautiful bathroom and soaking tub was amazing!!
Overall, the rental was clean and affordable. The only thing my wife and I found a bit tacky was that we were expected to wash all dishes before departure or pay a penalty even though there was not an actual kitchen sink to do so, but rather a tub container to use in the bathroom...

Very clean but there was a lack of information. Couldn’t find the thermostat almost froze to death. The squatty potty in the bathroom should be replaced. The exterior of the facility needs some upkeep. The yard is a disgrace, weeds waist high.

Parking and location are great. View is excellent. Love the balcony. Large bathroom. Entry stairway has a strong musty smell. No sink for dishes or kitchen cleanup, need to use the bathroom sink. No dish soap to wash dishes, only bleach to sanitize. No disposable cups or tissues in the bathroom. Toilet still rocks like it did 2 years ago. No hooks in the bathroom for clothes. No hangers for clothing. Bathroom rugs worn and slipped around. Back bedroom has to go through main bedroom to get to the bathroom. No coffee until the second afternoon.TV was streaming only, no local channels and poor internet connection.

Hi Don - a little surprised by this review as the unit hasn't changed since you stayed here last year (not two years ago). We also received no communication before, during or after your stay - other than your request for an early checkin, which we granted you. The layout, lack of hanging clothes space, smart TV, and dish washing with bins hasn't changed since you stayed here last year. It appears you missed the dish soap (this was next to the cleaning spray by the fridge). We also don't provide disposable cups as we feel this is not environmentally conscious. It doesn't seem this unit is a good fit for you and we would encourage you to find alternative accommodations if you return to Bayfield.
