We went for the sole purpose to visit family locally. Contact with the host is prompt and accomodating with my husband, myself, our dog, and our 10 & 15 year old boys. After driving very slowly up a very bumpy country hill side road, you will arrive at this beautiful farm nestled into the woodland mountainside surrounded by a blanket of stars. The place appears very clean, but the stove and microwave were missed in the cleaning from the prior tenant. There was a very strong musty smell to the house and linen. I was going to shower, but we were unable to get past the horrid smell of running the water trying to bleed the malodorous aroma of rotton eggs from the shower, and it was stinking up the entire house more and we stopped. Although, the kitchen sink is safe and did not appear to have that horrible odor at all. It was the 1st we tried. We used bottled water during our stay, went elsewhere for meals & showers, and only slept at the house. On the 3rd morning, I got to see my 1st cockroach in my 49 year old life. My husband killed a cockroach at 12:30 am scurrying across the kitchen floor, and my 10 year old son woke up with a line of bug bites down his back that morning. He slept in the little room. He was the only one that received the trail of bites during our stay. We left that day. The groundskeeper was very nice and does an excellent job. You also must dispose of your own garbage when you leave. We could also not find a barbecue grill.

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to know you enjoyed the farm ambiance and atmosphere during your stay. I do want to clarify a few important details for accuracy. The listing clearly states that the property uses well water, that it has a natural sulfur smell, and that bottled water is recommended. This information is provided upfront so guests can make an informed decision before booking. During your stay, you did not contact me through the platform or by phone with any concerns. Without communication, I had no opportunity to address or resolve anything in real time. You stayed three out of the four nights and requested a full refund only after the stay was nearly complete. If the conditions were truly as severe as described, it is unclear why you chose to remain on the property rather than notifying me immediately or checking out on the first night. The property was left in good condition, and I appreciate that. However, trash was left on the front lawn, which is against house rules and required additional cleanup. For safety and liability reasons, the property does have a security system in place, and it recorded multiple instances of guests walking outside the home without clothing. This is not appropriate conduct for the property or the neighborhood. Based on the lack of communication, the timing of the refund request, and the overall circumstances, it is my opinion that this guest was seeking a free stay. For these reasons, I would not feel comfortable hosting this group again.

To be truthful, I was a little concerned when I received the welcome packet. Elizabeth explained the driveway as a hill that can be washed out. We were on Motorcycles (not dirt bikes, touring bikes). When I got there, it wa no issue getting up and down the driveway. The house was amazing and very comfortable. We loved the horse motif throughout. Its super quiet and set back. Plenty of wildlife to watch from the windows while you are sitting at the kitchen table. Thanks Elizabeth for a comfortable stay. When I come back to the area, I will definitely look to stay at you rental again.
