The description of the property was very accurate, communication and check in were easy, as was finding the property. The house was great for us to relax in with our children. Beach access was a breeze, and the beach was private and beautiful. The kitchen made making dinners for an evening at the house an incredibly enjoyable experience. The screened in porch off the kitchen also made it very easy and pest free to enjoy an evening outside. The fenced in yard made us feel comfortable to let the kids run around. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful house on a VERY high bluff (90 stairs to the beach) -but that made the view fantastic!

Wonderful Stay

Hidden Haven was a wonderful place to stay! It provided a great location to stay before we moved into our new home and was big enough to welcome our grandchildren for the Thanksgiving weekend. Loved the amount of bathrooms and bedrooms. Great for a family gathering. Views and sunsets were incredible and it's location made it easy to get to South Haven or Saugatuck.

Northern Lights Extravaganza

If you like sunsets.....this is the house for you! And we just happened to be there on a night the northern lights were giving a show too! The house is far enough from South Haven to where you can relax, but a 10 minute drive to anywhere in SH.

Nice place for family to stay on the lake

Have a very nice weekend, WiFi is terrible and direct tv would not work and was told me needed a new box and it would be two days. We survived fine but wouldn’t want that to be the case for a week.

Thanks for the review! Glad you had a nice weekend at Hidden Haven! Given the remote location of the property, we try our best to market the property as a secluded getaway and are careful to mention that the WiFi isnt the strongest out in this location. Our apologies the cable box! We have a new one now and should hopefully not have that issue any longer. Happy Holidays! -The Upscale Lakeshore Team

Good for the Soul!

Breathtaking from the minute you walk in. The views from the property are amazing and the house and layout is stunning. The house was immaculate when we arrived and every room was appointed with everything you need. Everyone enjoyed being there so much that we canceled our dinner reservations at night and just all cooked together. The ever-changing skies were mezmerizing at sunset! We had a "Live, Love and Laugh" Thanksgiving week with our family. We will definitely be back. How could you not!

Perfect Getaway Home!

We arrived and were pleasantly surprised with everything…especially the magnificent views of Lake Michigan! We had enough room for our son and his family with 3 little girls. The playground and the toys in the garage were perfect for when we needed a break from the beach! Our daughters and their husbands had their own rooms, as well. The layout, the set up and the upgrades were great and really appreciated! We couldn’t get the t.v. to work, but we decided to not let it bother us and were ok with it! We had a Wonderful family vacation! We learned upon our return home when I posted a few photos on fb, that friends of ours rented it for years! Such a crazy coincidence! And we have recommended it to all of our friends!

What a view!

What a retreat to relax and unwind. Beautiful home to enjoy, gorgeous sunset views from the house and yard, and amazing sounds of Lake Michigan waves. I splurged in desperation for a family and friend getaway and it was totally worth it. Kids had an adjustment to the low bars on WiFi (it still worked fine and we were all connected) and I was in heaven for an excuse to disconnect. Kids dressed up and put on a play with the silly hats there, and there’s a game/puzzle closet that could have entertained for hours. We cooked a seafood feast and they had everything in the kitchen necessary, along with grill. With the nice weather we sat outside and played yard games we brought, cooked s’mores, and enjoyed the private peace and quiet. Pet friendly too, which I greatly appreciate - there was a fenced in section of yard. Overall excellent and can’t wait to go back!

My goodness what a glowing review Megan! We are so thrilled you and your family/friends enjoyed the home as much as we do! We're a little jealous we weren't invited for that seafood feast! Sounds divine! Because the home is located outside normal service areas we have the best satellite service that is offered but it is perhaps still not enough for remote work. Glad you found that to be a blessing in disguise as we all need a little time to shut off! Please reach out when you are ready to book your next getaway as we would be very happy to offer you a return guest discount :) -The Upscale Lakeshore Team

Hidden Haven Gem

We rented this beautiful home to celebrate the new years weekend with our family. The home was as depicted. Clean, fully stocked as far as kitchen items (we did not expect any food products available unless requested). We arrived 10 minutes early and couldn't access the home without a call, which got us into the house (understandable, I guess). Our only complaint was that at least one of the king bedrooms was lacking heat. The upstairs kind bedroom above the garage was freezing.....no heat registers....which could also be a problem when it gets hot in the summer. I called to request help or a space heater. A space heater was delivered that night, which was appreciated but minimally helped with the situation. The first floor master bedroom also had a heating issue, as the kind bed covered the only heat register in the large room----cold, but not as cold as the over garage bedroom. Overall, the place was wonderful and the service communication was excellent and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of nice towels. For the high price we paid for the weekend, we should have been made aware of these issues prior to occupancy. Also, minimal cell/wifi access due to location, which was identified in the listing. We increased our access through our phone/internet company for the weekend to assist with this. We give this property 5 stars for overall home beauty and comfort.

Thank you for the review Rick! We appreciate you taking the time to write up such a thorough synopsis of your stay! Glad you found the home to be clean and well stocked! Our keyless entry codes activate at our 4pm check-in time unless early check-in is approved/purchased. Pleased we were able to get you in a few minutes early! This is our first winter with the property so we learned of the lack of ventilation when you brought it to our attention so we appreciate that! We have left the space heater in the room until we are able to remedy the situation by adding duct work to the space. Thank you for the shout out on wonderful service and speedy communication! At Upscale Lakeshore we try our absolute best to accommodate our guests needs as they arise. Hidden Haven is definitely not a spot if you are hoping to have full service bars during your time away. Although this home has the best WiFi service available in this remote area, Hidden Haven is meant to be a retreat where one is able to disconnect. Thank you again for your review! Please be sure to reach out when you are ready to book your next getaway as we would love to offer you a return guest discount :) -The Upscale Lakeshore Team

4/10 Poor

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
We had a mixed stay at this beachfront location & in the end, we wished we had chosen a different spot. We travel to SH annually, staying at hotels or rentals, & this was our first sub-par experience.Pros: -Plenty of space -Great views & location -Management responds fast -Private beach is special. For the elderly or less able, the steep, 90 steps trip from the bluff is dicey, & may deter you from making the trek. Small children need carrying.Cons: -Pest issue #1: We saw a mouse in the screened porch area and it left droppings on the couch nightly. Mice in garage too - droppings all over - in mop bucket & near the kids toys they store. Smelled as if one died in there also. -#2: Large hornets nest at gazebo door prevented use. They swarmed -#3: Raccoons raided trash cans nightly -Dirty, stained cushions on outdoor furniture with cigarette burns. - Gazebo screens busted & hanging (can’t have bug free night there) - Dirty siding - the north side without sun exposure has the slimy green appearance - Master toilet ran constantly - Propane grill had heavy grease build up (fire hazard) - Dirty shower curtains - Some light bulbs outOverall, the pests were unacceptable, & we felt like this house was a little beat up due to neglect. In the end we alerted the management company with picture proof, they apologized, & thanked us for helping address issues for future guests. We felt they could have offered something more for our poor experience, but they didn’t.
