We had a wonderful stay! The home was beautiful and very clean. The host was very nice to adjust our stay by a day due to a health issue that came up for one of our children. We would love to visit again!
The house was clean and location was great! Even got to watch some dolphins out the kitchen window! The host responded to messages fast and anything we needed was taken care of right away.
We had a great time and really enjoyed the place. Everything was very clean, organized and well put together. Definitely will be staying again. The host was very informative and answered any questions we had.
We came for a quick family reunion with family that lives in Harkers Island. Any questions we had the homeowners were quick to respond even after we got home. The home was beautiful and we will definitely stay again. Hoping to come for the decoy show in December
Everything about our stay was perfect! Great location with plenty of room to park our boat trailers. This house has it all and is beautifully decorated with a great view. The host were amazing to work with. Highly recommend for a comfortable relaxing vacation.
This home was picture perfect and one of the nicest and comfortable we have stayed in on the island. We have vacationed on Harkers Island for almost 20 years. The beds were extremely comfortable, the linens super soft, and the sofas were comfortable to relax! The porch couch was super comfortable and a great place to take an evening nap. The hosts were so welcoming and make sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. They communicated before our trip with tops and suggestions to make our trip memorable.
We had a great time on Harker's Island. The property was beautiful, very clean and welcoming. We used the back deck the most, eating most of our meals there and enjoying the water views. If you enjoy watching birds, we saw gulls, osprey and pelicans every day. We also saw dolphins. It is a quick drive to the local beach and a little farther to go to Fort Macon State Park, Atlantic Beach or Beaufort. I would highly recommend staying here.
This house was perfect for our short getaway. 2 couples and an infant had plenty of room. Very well outfitted house with a great view of the water. Felt more like a home than a normal rental. Owners were very responsive and engaged to make sure we had a flawless stay and you can tell a lot of thought was put into this property. Will definitely try to book this place again.
We had an unforgettable stay at this beautiful waterfront home! The location is peaceful and picturesque, with stunning views right from the deck. The home itself was spotless, cozy, and filled with thoughtful touches that made our stay feel extra special. The owners provided bikes, which we loved using to explore the area, and even included after-sun butter and handmade soap—such a kind and personal touch! You can tell they truly care about their guests’ comfort. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already dreaming about our next visit. Highly recommend!
The whole house is amazing, but the back porch sitting was by far our group’s favorite part. Perfect view of the ocean while plenty of outdoor seating to relax, have dinner or just listen to some music. The blackstone grill was a nice add in, as my husband loves grilling and works great for cooking large meals for multiple families. The host was very accommodating, responsive and helpful. Definitely recommend, although my husband wanted to leave a terrible review to keep this place the best kept secret. lol.
My family and I had the best time on our girls getaway celebrating my mother’s 60th birthday. Elizabeth was awesome, the house was so clean and absolutely beautiful, we did not need a thing. Everything we practically needed Elizabeth already supplied. (Shampoo, toothpaste, etc) it was very much the relaxing getaway that we wanted. As my mother said, it was like something out of a Nicholas Sparks Movie. We loved the Island and enjoyed talking and meeting new people. Everyone was so friendly. We want to thank the Gilkin family for allowing us to stay and we can’t wait to come back.
Had a little trouble getting in. Also only 1 trash bag and no soap/shampoo/conditioner. Had to go to dollar general to make it through the weekend. Host was very responsive, though. House was very clean and neat but very small. No dishwasher. No clothes dryer, just a “mixed unit” that was supposed to wash and dry but did neither well. It’s a nice house but you should know what you are getting into.

About the host
Hosted by Elizabeth Gillikin
The Landing is owned by Dana and Beth Gillikin, lifelong Harkers Island natives. The property carries deep family roots — formerly the site of Yeomans Seafood and the Yeomans Fish House run by Ellis and Melissa Yeomans — and blends that heritage with a beautiful waterfront setting. We’re excited to share our love for this special place and invite guests to experience its history, charm, and natural beauty.
Why they chose this property
A short stroll from The Landing brings you into the heart of Harkers Island’s quietly beautiful rhythm: low-slung homes and weathered docks edged by salt-grass marshes, winding lanes framed by live oaks and palmettos, and wide water views that change from glassy blue in the morning to fiery oranges at sunset. You’ll hear gulls, distant boat engines, and the gentle slap of tides against pilings; local fishermen and charter captains launch from nearby ramps, while shorebirds probe the flats at low tide. What we love most about the neighborhood is that everyday life here feels unhurried and genuine—neighbors know each other, the seafood smells carry on the breeze, and there’s always an easy way to get on the water for shelling, fishing, or an evening cruise. It’s a place where maritime heritage and natural beauty meet, perfect for slowing down, exploring hidden inlets, and sharing simple moments with family and friends.
What makes this property unique
What sets The Landing apart is the blend of fresh, comfortable accommodation and authentic Harkers Island character. Our brand‑new waterfront house offers modern finishes and panoramic water views—so guests get the convenience and comfort of new construction with immediate access to boating, kayaking, and sunsets from the deck.
Beyond the house itself, the property’s history and local roots make it unique: formerly home to Yeomans Seafood and the Yeomans Fish House, The Landing carries generations of island maritime heritage, shared by owners Dana and Beth Gillikin, lifelong Harkers Island natives. That local connection means guests receive genuine recommendations, warm hospitality, and an insider’s sense of place.
We also provide experiences many rentals don’t: on-site, eco-friendly private charters for shelling, fishing, lighthouse tours, and dinner cruises—perfect for custom group outings or special occasions. Small thoughtful touches (complimentary Welcome Pack, flexible check-in, starter essentials, and gear storage) plus attentive, responsive hosting make stays smooth and stress-free.
In short: new, comfortable waterfront lodging; deep local history and hospitality; convenient private marine access and eco-conscious charter options; and guest-focused details that turn a stay into a memorable island experience.
