This is a lovely, big house with an incredible location on Menantic Creek. It's very well equipped, with bikes, and kayaks and beach chairs. The pool is especially nice, surrounded by tall hedges. I loved the location of the house, midway between the south and north parts of the island, and very quiet. Larry was great to deal with, very responsive and respectful.
We have been looking to purchase a home on the east end for many years but never focused on Shelter Island or had an extended stay there. I now love Shelter Island and would love to own there some day. This is all due to such a great experience we had with Lawrence and his rental. He is a great host and we look forward to coming back real soon.
House was very clean. Great property, beautiful views.

Heaven on Earth
This is the second time our family visited this lovely home and again its always a pleasure to stay here. The tranquil setting of this home is on Menantic creek, where both children and adults enjoyed fishing and crabbing off the dock or kayaking to local beaches. Those adventures proved to be a thrill for all. The salt water pool is delicious and its so helpful to have the barbecue adjacent to the table by the pool. The house is very tastefully decorated with a huge farm kitchen/dining/den area that overlooks that same creek and the kitchen is stocked with every appliance and gadget possible. We enjoyed afternoons on the back porch playing games with the grandchildren, going for donuts at Kyle's or just taking walks, riding bikes, collecting shells at the local beaches and snapping photos of wildlife. The homeowners, Larry and Nancy, are gracious and extremely helpful.
Can't wait to return again . . . .

Beautiful, indeed! Perfect vacation home.
The pictures do not do the place justice. The house was clean, fully stocked, and comfortable. The waterfront views were perfect, and the pool was clean and warm. Lawrence was very responsive and easy to work with (even talked me through how to light the grill while he was dropping his kids off at college). The kayaks were an especially fun treat. Will definitely be requesting to rent again next year!

Shelter Island Gem
Just ended 2 glorious weeks in this home. Not only is it a home away from home it feels like it is its own island. With water views, the dock, the heated swimming pool, the expansive property for the kids to have fun, you don't ever have to leave. And the best part - the owners. So easy to talk to you and responded quickly to questions. Thanks for sharing your home with us. Will be back next year! .

A hidden gem inside and out.
Just spent a wonderful 9 days enjoying this delightful home and cannot say enough good things about it. This is clearly a home filled with love with many charming touches inside and out that make you feel relaxed and welcome. All of the rooms were very large, well appointed, comfortable and clean. The kitchen is enormous and well stocked with everything you need to cook and prepare food. The local IGA is only 10 min away and had a great selection of everything you could want. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom off the kitchen were perfect for us with our 15 month old son. The rest of our family had the top floor bedrooms to themselves and loved the porch connected to their rooms. It was the perfect spot for morning coffee overlooking the water, yard and pool. We grilled every day for lunch and dinner, swam in the heated pool at least twice a day, and went out on our rented boat to explore Menantic Creek and West Neck Harbor for pleasure cruises and fishing on Peconic Bay. I took the family to the beach at Crab Creek (10 min drive) and got in a couple of good kite board sessions. Sunset beach was perfect for our 15 month old to play in the sand on the edge of the water. Larry (the owner) was very responsive and helpful with any questions or needs we had. Wish we could have stayed longer!

It felt like home
We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving in this beautiful home. This house has an excellent layout and flow, and is welcoming in every sense of the word. The house is well equipped and comfortable. Our family likes to eat home made, and we were certainly able to do that here. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to cook a large Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings!
We lucked out with great weather, so we were able to enjoy the great porches...visiting, playing games and stargazing. There was a stunning full moon one night! We hand fed the swans off the deck. We walked in the nearby preserve -- it was lovely. Our entire stay was refreshing and peaceful.
We will definitely keep this one on our "do it again" list.

Late summer stay
We had a great stay at this wonderful, new, spotless house. Everything was as advertised ...and then some. The owners have thought of everything, including sunblock , shower gel and paper towels. Larry was great to deal with and even had a bottle of wine waiting for us. The dock was wonderful with lots of water gear to use. We brought our stand-up board too and it was a perfect place to launch. We rode bikes to Ram Island and took the ferry to Greenport to shop .We discovered Shell beach for sunsets. Fyi: The IGA market is close for last minute groceries . There's a cute coffee /muffin store near the Chequit Inn in the Shelter Heights section. We also spent hours on the deck watching the herons and changing light on the water. The pool was clean and delightful. Our only negative is we never wanted to leave.

We have been vacationing with our extended family for 10 years now... 9 of them on SI.
By far this was the most comfortable and clean home with all the little touches of home. Larry and Nancy's friendly and easygoing nature made it even more pleasurable. 4 children were never bored; following the crabs, paddle boating , swimming and just hanging out on the beautiful lawn. And the adults had just as much fun. Kayak races and crane watching along with naps overlooking the water...
Who could ask for more! A Shelter Island gem! We've found our new home away from home and look forward to many more years there.

Family reunion renter
The house was lovely with a fantastic view of Menantic Creek. The pool was great, especially given the hot weather during our stay. I would recommend going to a performance at the Perlman Music Camp during your stay and also making arrangements if possible for a tour of Sylvester Manor. The description of the house was accurate and the owner's recommendation of the house as a perfect place for a family reunion was right on target.

Very nice vacation!
We had a very nice week-long vacation here with grandparents, adult children and grandchildren. The kids loved the pool and the pool toys, the kayaks and the paddle boat and we loved sitting on the deck reading and having easy access to Shelter Island beaches and the ferries to the North Fork and Hamptons/Montauk. We used the kayaks provided to explore the bay at the end of the inlet and drove our own kayaks over to Mashomack for some amazing kayaking. The house was perfectly clean and comfortable and had enough space for all of us- the grandparents particularly enjoyed having a room downstairs away from all the kid chaos-- and the owners left toys bubbles, coloring books and toys for our kids to enjoy. Very quiet, relaxing house and perfect for our family vacation!

A Little Slice of Heaven - Exceptional Owners
Our 3 generation family (11 total) was looking for a little rest & relaxation. What we found was a little slice of heaven. Pictures & descriptions cannot do justice to this wonderful place and welcoming atmosphere home owners provided. Every room of the house was fashionable yet family-friendly furnished. Open floor plan downstairs allowed plenty of space for eating, game playing, entertaining, while still leaving special corners for reading. The kitchen was fully appointed. The four upstairs bedrooms were spacious; master suite and one bedroom off the upper deck facing east to receive morning sun. The bathrooms were spacious and laid out for everyone’s use. Guest room and bathroom on the first floor was equally spacious. Ample linen in rooms & plenty of dresser/closet storage. Each room was decorated with its share of art, intriguing wall décor & furnishings. If you looked carefully, you could find original art signed by the home owners. Had not purposefully sought rental with pool, but pool turned out to be one of our favorites of this wonderful home. We swam before & after breakfast, before & after lunch and all other times day & night. The pool was surrounded by/screened with beautiful landscaping, a stone deck with plenty of seating, portable fire pit and outdoor grill. The dock and assorted water craft provided great fun for grandkids. They fished, kayaked, rowed and piloted paddle boat to every corner of the cove. We captured fresh crab and mussels in the shallow waters. Ferry rides to North Fork and Sag Harbor were another adventure. Don’t miss the opportunity to park your car and go by foot on the ferry to Greenport. When you do take your car, drive west and visit dozens of Long Island wineries, stop at Briermere Farm or Wickham’s Farm for some of the best pies you’ll ever eat. As our kids & their spouses attest, there was nothing better than waking up on Dickerson Drive, brewing a cup of coffee and sitting on the dock in the early morning enjoying breakfast pie. The property and immediate area is bountiful with wildlife. White-tailed deer walked past the main deck as we ate dinner. Swans, osprey, gulls, geese, ducks, robins, plovers, squirrels & chipmunks were a daily sight. There was lots of stillness and quiet. Not silence, but the quietness where you can hear the wind through the reeds at the water edge & you can hear the song birds in the morning, with the only other enjoyable sounds being those of our kids and grandkids playing.

Shelter Island Stay
The house and location were fantastic! Great floorplan, decking, pool, grounds, dock etc etc. Accomodations came complete with all the comforts of home, lots of attention to detail. One of our requirements was easy access to the waters around Shelter Island and a place to keep our 21 foot bowrider - we had all that and much more. Enjoyed the pool, biking, hiking, the island sunset spots, star gazing from the master bedroom deck, local eateries and access to Greenport and Sag Harbor.
All Good - Look forward to another visit!

Fell in love with Shelter Island
What a wonderful home. From the moment we walked in we felt immediately comfortable. House is as pictures show - and the biggest surprise was the size of the kitchen and all the amenities. The kids loved going out on the kayaks and paddle boat. And the yard was large enough for the all important wiffle ball game and what better way to end the game but to dive into the pool. It was great. Thanks to the owner who was incredibly easy to work with and pleasant. Hope to get back there next year.

Absolutely PERFECT vacation spot!
Our family celebrated my Mom's 80th Birthday at this beautifully decorated, comfortable and immaculate home. The pictures on the website accurately reflect the beauty of the home. The owners could not have been more helpful. Our week there could not have been better. The age range in our family is from 6 to 80 and there is something here for everyone to do. Looking out every morning at the shimmering creek (we considered it a lake) was so relaxing. Breakfast in the gourmet kitchen prepared us for the busy day ahead. This home provided us with all the comforts of home. We could stay on the property all day and be entertained by swimming, crabbing, kayaking, paddleboating and just plain enjoying each others company. We took day trips into Sag Harbour and Montauk. Biking and playing tennis kept us physically fit. This is paradise! We hope to go back next year to celebrate her 81st!
