TRAVEL TIPS
The journey to our mountain-modern retreat involves curvy roads, but the wide, paved road ensures accessibility. A slow incline from the entrance of Shagbark leads to our home at the mountain's peak. For winter visits, we recommend AWD/4WD if there is snow and/or ice forecasted.
ANTICIPATED ADDITIONS IN 2025:
Hot Tub (has been ordered and awaiting arrival as of 3/1/25)
Immerse yourself in the pinnacle of mountain-modern living at 'Grace in the Smokys,' where contemporary comfort meets the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains."
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
Our area and neighborhood, including our house, were devastated in a wildfire in 2022. Due to this, there is still some construction on our street that you will pass by on your way to our home. We have stayed in the home multiple times and the nearby construction has not affected our stay due to the distance away from the house.
BEARS & WILDLIFE
DO NOT FEED, interact or get close to bears or other wildlife. DO NOT LEAVE ANY OPEN FOOD OR TRASH on the decks, front porch, or cars. Also make sure all car stays remained locked while at the home.
BUGS
In the Smokies, Japanese Beetles (like lady bugs) and stink bugs often find their way into homes looking to escape the cold during fall and winter. While our home is thoroughly vacuumed and cleaned between stays, it is likely you will still encounter them during your stay. The Japanese beetles like to hangout in windows and window seals, and we have a lot of these! You are most likely to encounter them in the main living area. Other unwelcome critters may also find themselves into the home for the same reason.
WEATHER
Although it is rare for snow to impact the area, it does happen from time to time. Please plan accordingly by preparing food supply and having 4wd/AWD is there is snow or ice anticipated during your stay. NO REFUNDS will be given due to weather conditions. We offer travel insurance to protect against this rare occurrence.
OUR HOME IS A NON SMOKING HOME. IF THERE IS EVIDENCE OF SMOKING IN THE HOME DURING YOUR STAY AS $500 SMOKE REMEDIATION FEE WILL BE CHARGED.

About the host
Your host

Hi! My wife, Casey, works in the medical field and I work in the construction industry. We love to travel, spending time with our kids, and explore new places. Also if you have any issues or questions about the property, please don't hesitate to reach out. In 2022, our original home was victim to a rare wildfire that affected the area. We have worked long and hard to rebuild back a home for our family as well as many others to enjoy!
Why they chose this property
There were many reasons why we bought this property, but the main two are memories and security. We both came to the Smoky Mountains, specifically Pigeon Forge, as children with our parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles and cousins. As I have continued to come back to this place and as I age I find myself drifting through these great memories. If you end up creating half the memories we have it will be a great thing for you and anyone traveling with you for the rest of your life and theirs.
We immediately noticed the security when we first visited the house, we fell in love with Shagbark Community, because not only does it allow for privacy, but the 24/7 guarded gate shack at the entrance of the community made us feel extra secure!
