Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
The cabin was cute, and I appreciated the modern decor. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to overcome the condition of the property. From the moment we arrived, there was a very strong musty odor throughout the entire cabin. It made the space feel unclean and unpleasant, and it was so overwhelming that we decided we couldn’t stay for the remainder of our trip.Separately, we were especially looking forward to using the hot tub, but the hot tub area had its own strong musty mildew smell, and the hot tub water itself also smelled strongly of mildew. After using it, my son smelled like mildew for the rest of the day, and the odor gave him a headache. Our bathing suits and towels also smelled terrible afterward until we returned home and were able to wash everything several times. We contacted the host to see if there was a quick solution. When it became clear there wasn’t, we spent several hours communicating with the host and VRBO, packing everything back up, finding a hotel, rearranging our vacation, and throwing away most of the groceries we had purchased for our stay since we were planning on having a kitchen. The host did refund the two unused nights, which we appreciated. However, they never responded to my follow-up messages regarding the cleaning fee. This property has a lot of potential, but the odor issues significantly impacted our stay, and we would not choose to stay here again.
We loved our stay in Boone for the weekend. Property felt secluded while still being just a few minutes away from hiking and downtown. The teens enjoyed the bunk room and hot tub. We did a mix of eating out and eating in and the kitchen had what we needed for our meals at the cabin. We'd definitely stay here again.
The house was just as advertised. It was easy to find and very close to Boone and the parkway. Jennifer was great to work with and very responsive. Would stay here again.
My kids, my mom and I had a lovely few days to come together with our Boone family. The cabin was a perfect fit with plenty of sleeping space. We stayed last year and love the updates. Reading the afternoon away in the hot tub while the wind blew cold around me was my favorite part! Definitely our go to rental for Boone!
Cabin was cute; it was quite cold on arrival; might want to ask owners to turn up the heat a couple hours before you go. They keep it set at 50. Good thing we could jump in hot tub when we got there! Good location for tubing at Hawksnest. Area did have a lot of college students. Great restaurants and breweries nearby
Great place for a quick get-away and close to App State
This cozy little cottage fit the bill for what we needed....We made a quick trip to Boone for Family Orientation at App State. We needed a place that would allow our pup and that the location was somewhat close to the University. This little place fit the bill. We loved the heated floors in the bathrooms. The beds slept very comfortably and the kitchen had all the items we needed. We have our own VRBO, so expectations are always high and this little cottage met all the criteria with flying colors! As we have at least a four year commute to visit the new Mountaineer, I'm sure we will return. **Note that Jennifer was great to work with - when we went to what we thought was the front door, the lock would not open, I texted and quickly learned we were at the wrong door...our bad but had a good laugh and really appreciated her quick response! Thanks for a nice stay!
