Absolutely loved this place! Everything was spot-on! The view of the ocean and the stars from the hammock at night were the best. We would love to stay here again.
Well off the beaten path and gorgeous. Views like none other. Dena was very responsive and helpful. If you want to get away, stay here. Could not recommend this place more.
This property is such a hidden gem. I did not want to be in the hustle and bustle of town, not that there is a lot of hustle and bustle on St. John. The other side of the island is just stunning. I got to see a lot of wildlife and the view from the porch is absolutely amazing. The last two days of my trip I did not leave the house. I sat and read a book and stared at the water and just chilled. The house was immaculately cleaned. The bed was extremely comfortable. There were a lot of extra touches that made it so nice. The kitchen was fully stacked. I was shocked. I did not have to buy any spices at all. I am definitely wanting to go back.
What an AMAZING stay ! ! ! To be fair, we booked the view from the balcony and were delighted that a lovely home was attached. We literally lived on the upper balcony ! ! ! The ocean, just below with small waves were constantly breaking so the sound of the ocean was constant and fabulous. The trade winds were made our experience AMAZING - open the window in the house and the breezes were ideal! Large master suite was so comfortable and the views from an awesome shower were breathtaking! I slept on the pull out couch in the living room and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was. St. Thomas & St. John are experiencing lots of electrical outages, which also means no water - it would be helpful to have a large container to store fresh water in to use when electricity is out. Fridge and Internet are on a battery which was very helpful. Road into the house is a bit rough, 4 wheel drive would be ideal, but we had a Nissan SUV and it did fine, we just took it slow. Owners have put a lot of thought into making it comfortable and it shows! LOVED our stay
Had a great stay at Folly View. The views are spectacular. Constant Easterly breeze kept temps very comfortable. WIFI was excellent. Road (Donkey Trail) is a little rough to get to property but DID NOT need 4 wheel drive. Definitely would stay again.
The view was gorgeous! Everything was great outdoor shower and view were the best. Stocked kitchen and even bath items made it nice. Thanks for an incredible stay.

Thank you for the great review and for being an awesome guest. We hope you are planning a return trip!
Folly View was exactly what we were looking for! The views are so great. You can see Tortola and the East Side of Saint John while also enjoying the pelicans dive in the bay. The Salt Pond Beach is so close to the property and Corral Bay is a great little town for anything you might need. The home was well stocked with every kitchen item you might need and the beach supply shed has snorkel and beach gear needed for a day in the sun. I appreciated the quick responses I received from the owner and she was very accommodating. I was vey grateful that we had rented a Jeep as the driveway is rougher than I had anticipated but nothing a Jeep could not handle. One last thing, the outside shower was beautiful and the porches are huge and have very comfortable chairs. The picnic table and hammock area was appreciated by my children. The yard had beautiful cactus and palm trees to enjoy. Folly View is the place to book if you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the views of the islands.
Enthralling, expansive views, relaxing ocean surf and seabird sounds, great week!
The Bali-flavored wood-carving esthetic and extremely thoughtful airflow design resulted in a relaxing, joyous, and restorative week for our first visit to St. John.Perhaps we were lucky that the prevailing winds from the East at 10-15 mph kept any and all bugs away, but also provided pleasing breezes both on the upper and lower porches and throughout the upstairs living space. We loved the beautiful gardens, Bali wood-carvings, quality tile flooring, solid window and door hardware, mood lighting, safety motion-sensor lighting for the stairs, and of course the incredible location and views of the St. John east end, BVI, and many other islands. We loved the well-appointed kitchen with excellent quality UV-filtered tap water. We grilled fresh fish that Ali at Calabash seasoned for us. Salt Pond Bay was only a few minutes away for great snorkeling, 4-wheel drive to nearby Lameshur Bays for more great wildlife and snorkeling. We experienced an earthquake at 2:58am May 4th - on our anniversary! (no damage). The solar battery backup system was needed to keep the fridge, some lights, and water running during island-wide rolling zone-scheduled power outages. The downstairs bathroom lighting could use improvement, and a mirror over the sink. The road to the house needs some smoothing - we really bounced around in our (necessary) jeep getting to and from the property.
You absolutely cannot beat the view from the patio, kitchen, and bed! The location is great for relaxing and you are close to beautiful beaches (salt pond, grootpan, and lameshur were our favorites) and good restaurants but are still tucked away from any busy crowds. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast and make to-go lunches each day and the grocery store was a short drive away. We had a few questions during our stay and the communication we received was quick and very helpful. We’ve stayed at many beautiful places over the years, and this area of St John along with this house, has risen to the top of the list for the views alone! We aren’t the people who travel to the same place twice but this trip has made us reconsider that and we hope to visit Folley View again!

About the host
Hosted by SARAH CUNNINGHAM
My husband and I live in the midwest- but I have always had a need to see the ocean (my hubby would tell you it is a bit of an obsession, truthfully). I have travelled coast to coast in the US, and we have been to Thailand, French Polynesia, Hawaii, and all over the Caribbean- but there was something magical about St John that captured out hearts. This place was so special to us, we decided to open it up to host others so they can enjoy the magic as well. There is something SO special about this island- and the rugged beauty it contains... and this house is truly our happy place. It seemed sad to have it sit empty when when we are back on the mainland working, so we decided to share it with others- we hope you love your time at Folly View and can see why it is such a gem to us.
Why they chose this property
When we drove down the hill to this property, I am not exaggerating when I tell you it was love at first sight- you will know why when you see it). We looked at the view and then each other and we. just. knew.
We love the Coral Bay side of the island (the chillness... the parking- and access to 3 grocery stores and a beach within 15 minutes is pretty awesome too). And the restaurants over here (again- with parking!) are fantastic.
What makes this property unique
We love to sit out on the deck and watch what we call "Fish TV" at the "dive bar". We watch schools of fish swim around and get chased by barracuda. There are big rays in the water as well- and we love watching the birds dive down for snack-time. We see geckos around the property (they are friend, not foe!) and we have iguanas that live in the wild areas around the villa. We see deer regularly- it is just nature in abundance. We also have wild donkeys and goats that visit the villa from time to time.
And that isn't even to mention the views of LeDuck and the rest of the BVI's, or the view of Haulover and the East End of the island.
Inside the villa, we really left the place "as we live". We stayed in a BUNCH of villas across all the USVI's and were disappointed to find them stripped down to the bare bones. I wanted to leave you a kitchen you could actually cook in- tools you would need, pans, etc. And good grief, do we love some coffee- which is why you will find a coffee maker upstairs and a little coffee bar downstairs.
