HONU KAI HIDEAWAY

Honu Kai Hideaway is like a treehouse with views of ocean, golf course and mountains. We are nestled among the trees and lush landscaping of the spectacular Turtle Bay Resort, an 880 acre tropical paradise. Our Hideaway is the perfect blend of tropical seclusion amidst many of the amenities offered by a world class resort. We are located on the 2nd floor. There are 15 steps leading up the stairs.

Honu Kai Hideaway is remarkably more light and airy than other Kuilima Estate condos because additional large windows showcase our expansive view with a 'treetop' feel. The private Lanai is perfect for relaxing outdoors or enjoying meals al fresco.

As you may notice by our reviews, we receive many 5 stars. We are so grateful that our guests love our family vacation home as we do! However, we are NOT a 5 star resort according to hotel ratings. For those of you with 4 or 5 star hotel tastes, you might consider other options for places to stay. Honu Kai Hideaway is our family vacation home that we elect to also use as a vacation rental. It is furnished for active people on-the-go. Also, as a vacation rental, we do not offer concierge service. We are happy to try our best to assist you while you stay with us, but we are not a 24 hour concierge service. If you desire this kind of service, please consider staying at Turtle Bay Resort. Guests who enjoy Vacation Rentals over hotels do so because of the privacy and independence that a Vacation Rental offers.

The condo is fully furnished including a small flat screen HD TV, WIFI, and Cable TV. (However, it should be noted that Internet service and Wi Fi are often spotty and intermittent on the North Shore).

Because screened doors and windows are often left open to allow tropical breezes to flow throughout the condo, we have elected to use high quality outdoor furniture in the living room. The frames are made of all weather woven resin wicker for easy and long maintenance.

The kitchen is full-sized with stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. (Barbecues are available poolside). A washer and dryer is included within the unit. The bedroom offers a Cal King bed with air conditioning in the bedroom.

Air conditioning is now offered in the living room! We would appreciate your assistance in saving energy by turning off the air conditioning when you are not there. Mahalo for saving Hawaii’s energy.

Honu Kai Hideaway is located along the renowned stretch of beaches that make up Oahu's North Shore. The North Shore is known for country living, relaxed lifestyle, beautiful surfing beaches, eclectic shopping and pleasurable restaurants.

Honu Kai Hideaway is located on the East side of Kuilima Estates and is surrounded by two championship golf courses. Some of the amenities available to guests include tennis courts and two swimming pools each of which includes a barbeque area. A short walk and you are at the Turtle Bay Hotel which has many terrific restaurants, a great pool bar, entertainment and magnificent beaches. There are many activities on the property that can be booked at either the Hotel concierge desk or the Activities Center. One can choose from horseback riding, bicycle or moped rentals, surf lessons and helicopter rides. Golf can be booked at the golf pro shop which is also home to Lei Lei’s restaurant a favorite of locals.

Fabulous eating options abound within the Resort and on the North Shore. A scenic 15-30 minute drive in either direction offers a sumptuous variety of local, international or resort cuisine. Locally grown fruit and vegetable stands are just down the road. Ted's Bakery is less than 10 minutes away (Chocolate Haupia Pies!). We also have a delightful grocery store, Foodland which is just 20 minutes away.
Historic Haleiwa town, a 30 minute drive, is an old whaling village and has become a shopper's paradise and restaurant-lovers delight. Yet it still maintains it's old town charm.

Every conceivable water activity is easily available to you here at the Resort and on the North Shore: Surfing, Sunbathing, Diving, Snorkeling, Tide Pools, Whale Watching, Fishing, Jet Skiing and more. Lessons are available for anyone with a desire to learn.

In addition to all the activities and amenities of Turtle Bay Resort there are countless activities for the energetic visitor. Exploring the magnificent North Shore beaches as well as fabulous hiking trails including the trail to Waimea Falls. Other must-sees for the active visitor are Waimea Botanical Gardens, Polynesian Cultural Center and Haleiwa Town.

The winter months bring added excitement when the waves swell to huge proportions and pro surfers from all over the world assemble to compete in the Triple Crown of Surfing. This is a fabulous spectator sport not to be missed if you are fortunate enough to visit during this time. You can always find sheltered beaches and smaller waves to enjoy the water if the huge ones 'aren't your thing'.
