Classic Southwestern Gem in the Heart of Tucson
Welcome to your authentic, updated hacienda infused with Southwestern charm. Easily feel at home in an entire spacious, comfortable house with gorgeous accents on .65 acres. Centrally-located, it is in an historic enclave of elegance. This fabulous spread is within walking distance to shopping, public transportation, near the biking "Loop", less than 20 minutes from the University of Arizona and downtown. Surrounded by desert nuances, feel at home and experience the true character of Tucson.
It is your turn to enjoy this sanctuary where our family has thrived for over 40 years. In that time the desert has graciously given way to a lovely city that has blossomed around our home. You'll be thrilled, as it is still very much naturally-serene and inspiring, yet close to many conveniences and local favorites. The building itself has been lovingly preserved and updated but remains true to its Southwestern roots. Mexican tile and hardwood floors accent the natural light from skylights and French doors throughout the bright and open floorplan. A large living room (15’ x 30’) with wood-burning beehive fireplace surrounded by comfy furniture make for a great place to relax. The updated kitchen is gourmet-ready: stocked with a new gas range and all of the implements and serving pieces you will need. The brand new quartz counters set a refreshed tone to the space. The generous dining room has ample room for your crew and is also a great place for meetings. The sprawling home allows for privacy as well with plenty of separate bedrooms for everyone to have a place to call their own. The ability to spread out extends to the very large, landscaped and private fenced backyard. Enjoy the park-like Japanese-style garden with flagstone walkway and purposefully chosen vegetation. It is a hummingbird mecca and urban bird habitat. Enjoy outdoor meals and quiet time in multiple outdoor seating areas. Large wraparound covered patios, a new 5-burner stainless steel gas grill are perfect for any season and plenty of table and chairs make entertaining a breeze. There is ample parking the semi-circular driveway. Inside the home is a large laundry room with washer and dryer. There are empty closets throughout the property, and at every juncture it is thoughtfully furnished, tastefully decorated. This is your place to be at home.
The entire 2700 square feet of inside living space and extensive patios and yards are all yours.
There are 3 Smart TVs with Roku and 500 Mbps wireless capacity.

The house is beautiful! It is well stocked, spacious and clean. The location was ideal for us. And, the backyard is a stunning space to relax! We would definitely stay here again.
We loved the house and outdoor space. This place definitely feels like Tucson. The space had everything we needed. And the hosts were very kind. We will definitely look for this one on future trips.
Quite simply the finest vacation rental experience of our lives. Both the flavor and the abundance of this Tucson jewel spoke eloquently to my wife, who has spent her life as an artist, and to myself, a retired labor attorney. The indoor space is tasteful, generous and comfortable, while the outdoor space expands with well-lit and well-kept privacy. If you like to read, this rental offers nothing short of a library to peruse; if you like to cook, the kitchen boasts every implement and spice for your pleasure. The local support of Sheila and Ray is friendly and prompt. My wife and I plan to return for we have found, in this rental, our home-away-from-home.
We were looking for a large home to host a family reunion. Before we paid for the stay we contacted the host who gave us permission to do so. She offered the use of extra chairs and table cloths in the garage. The reunion was a great success and Claire’s home was a big reason. It is colorful, welcoming, warm and charming. The patio area in the back served as our dining room. There are colored lights. The kitchen is well equipped to warm up the food and serve all our guests. Claire was most responsive, trusting and gracious. We will most definitely be returning
I’m from Tucson and return at least once a year. During our trips we host a gathering for old Arizona friends. This is the second time Claire’s home has been available and everyone was thrilled to return. The house and yard are beautifully designed without seeming stuffy. The photos are accurate but don’t convey how warm and welcoming it is. The kitchen has everything, the landscaping has a calming effect. The house is on a quiet street in a quiet, walkable neighborhood, yet a ten minute walk to a Trader Joe’s and a grocery and a decent breakfast place. We hope to return to this special home.

I am originally from Cohasset, Masssachusetts, and I have lived in Tucson for all of my adult life. Since my retirement in 2017, I have been able to spend more time traveling to visit my children and grandchildren.
Why they chose this property
The San Carlos Neighborhood is an historic area of Tucson, known for its character of being "the country in the city" since virtually all homes have large lots with mature landscaping. Centrally located, the area is still private, peaceful, and safe.
What makes this property unique
Beautiful, spacious, and comfortable home full of art and books. The elegant desert landscape and Japanese-style garden is adjacent to large porches and multple seating areas. At night, bright landscape lights complement the feeling of peace and privacy.
