The house was spacious with lots of bedrooms and fun things to do for kids. However the house had a bad musty smell, the back sliding door didn’t lock, we found ants in different areas of the house, and the surrounding neighborhood was pretty run down.

This property was a nice spacious home. Plenty of toys for kids and adults. Clean and on a quiet street just a short drive to a beautiful beach.

The house was very comfortable and decorated in a fun surf theme we all enjoyed. The path to the beach was only a short walk away. We also enjoyed seeing many deer on our walks. Overall we loved our stay and would stay here again in the future.

The house easily accommodated our group of 6 adults 2 children and a toddler. The beds and bedding were extremely comfortable for all people- the children expressed how much more comfortable the bunk beds were than their beds at home. The garage arcade set up was an amazing perk for the adults and kids alike- lots of fun with evening old school video games, hoop competition and foosball tourneys- just great fun. The house was well-equipped with chairs and sand toys/wagons that we took full advantage of. And seriously- just a short walk (like 5 min) from the house to Harris beach which was a great perk. Easy to stroll down and see a gorgeous sunset over an amazing beach. Sam Boardman State Park is less than a 10 min drive from the driveway. The exterior of the house could use some attention but it does not impact the comfortable atmosphere that the interior presents- all family members highlighted a few times of just how comfortable the layout was- very inviting. We saw more elk in the neighborhood than in the Prairie State Park area...pretty cool. A kitchen appliance gave us some trouble over our stay but the host was very accommodating and has taken the steps to make it right- very confident that all will be resolved prior to the next guests' arrival. All in all it was a great house to stay in for 2 grandparents, a couple with 3 kids and a couple that are dual income no kids...lots of dynamics going on in that group and the house met everyone's needs- great house

Very nice house. We enjoyed our stay very much. Host was great at answering questions promptly. Having access to more cleaning supplies would have helped with keeping up on the daily upkeep. Also cleaning people arrived at 9:45 and were sitting outside in their truck, which made us feel somewhat rushed as we were gathering last minute things. Overall, great location and house.

Spacious; well equipped; the bedrooms are well appointed with furniture and comfortable bedding, the beds were clean and comfortable; great location-there are multiple beaches down the road along the highway, and town is five minutes away. The couch in the living room is like laying on a blanket, and it fit most of our family – it’s wonderful. Beautiful shrubs and flowers on the property. Downsides: There was debris food and dead bugs under the couch when we arrived. There was the faint but noticeable smell of natural gas when standing along the wall between the living room and the laundry room. The master bath Jacuzzi tub is very slippery. We had two falls.

We come to the area every summer at this time since 2013. First time at a VRBO. We have a rather large family and this house nailed it. It was very clean, comfortable and convenient. It was so comfortable we could have just played there and did nothing. Super cool. Thanks.

The only bathroom downstairs was far from the action. Lots of space. However, the rules posted at the house and not mentioned online were unreasonable for responsible adults ... food and beverages only at the table or kitchen counter seating. Adults drink coffee, cocktails, water, snack etc. while visiting in lounge areas. The air return vent is in desperate need of a cleaning. Otherwise the space can accommodate a large group for sleeping.

My family and I loved our stay here! The photos don’t do it justice — the home was even better in person. The game room was an absolute gem, perfect for all ages. The murals are cool but the room itself deserves the spotlight in the photos.A few notes for future guests: there are stairs, and the only bedroom on the main floor has twin beds and no TV. I’d hoped to have my elderly father in one of the plush TV rooms upstairs, but he couldn’t do the stairs. The children’s room was exceptional — four bunkbeds, a huge TV, books, and toys.The house was spotless, the beds were cozy, and the kitchen had everything a large family could need — crockpot, big pans, and plenty of silverware. Only thing missing was cleaning spray or washcloths (just sponges provided), so bring wipes if you like to tidy as you go.We’d absolutely stay again — clean, comfy, and perfect for families!

Perfect home for a group getaway

This home was absolutely perfect for our group! There were plenty of large spaces for everyone to gather comfortably, making it ideal for both relaxation and socializing. One of the standout features was the huge garage, which has been converted into a top-tier game room stocked with the best arcade-level games. Both kids and adults had a blast, and despite all the excitement, the noise didn’t disrupt those watching TV inside.The upstairs bedrooms were spacious, with three rooms featuring king-size beds. Even with the large beds, there was still plenty of room to move around comfortably. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, including extra appliances, all in new and working condition.This home is beautifully maintained, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed for a mix of guests. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a rental in Brookings!
