Welcome to The CampAway – the ultimate fall hideaway atop Wallace Mountain in Ellijay, GA! Grab your cozy sweaters and get ready for an epic autumn adventure at our charming studio cabin, The Big Dipper, tucked away like your own secret fall clubhouse.

Nestled on 4 acres with private creek access and backing up to the national forest, the great outdoors is your playground for wild adventures and nature explorations. Our cabin offers endless opportunities for hiking, creek splashing, and wildlife spotting right in your backyard, making you feel like true fall camp legends.

The Big Dipper is very close to three of the best apple orchards in the area. September marks the start of apple season, and Ellijay is known as the apple capital of Georgia. This means you can enjoy fresh apple picking, cider tasting, and a variety of apple-themed treats during your stay.

Imagine waking up to the crisp autumn air, surrounded by vibrant fall foliage and clear blue skies. And guess what? The fun doesn't stop there! Step outside onto the wrap-around porch of The Big Dipper, where you can soak up those stunning mountain views or snuggle by the fire while lounging on the sectional. It's the perfect spot for sipping hot cider and enjoying late-night chats under the stars.

The cabin is your cozy headquarters for all things fall, with indoor and outdoor fire pits just waiting for those s'mores and ghost stories. Plan your dream autumn escape with trips to nearby wineries, cideries, and charming shops, take a refreshing hike to Amicalola Falls, or simply enjoy the beauty of the season.

We would love to host you at The Big Dipper cabin for your ultimate autumn camp fun!

Everything you need is within a 20-45 minute beautiful scenic drive. You can explore so many small mountain towns from the cabins - Ellijay, Blue Ridge, McCaysville, Blairsville, Dawsonville & Dahlonega.

DRIVING: Last 0.5 miles of road to cabin is unpaved and bumpy at times, super low riding vehicles are NOT recommended and large recreational vehicles are NOT allowed. Print out driving instructions to and from the cabin and plan to check-in before dark.

DOGS: Dogs are WELCOME! We love our fur babies, but this property allows a maximum of two dogs and the fee is $75 per stay. Please, clean paws only in the house and if you would like to snuggle with your dog on the couch, please use the dog blanket to lay on the furniture. Additional cleaning fee may be applied for excessive shedding.

CELL SERVICE: You will lose cell service approximately 15 minutes away from the cabin (based on carrier) with some random spots along the way. You can log into WiFi once in the cabins and enable WiFi calling and send/receive text messages and emails. A landline phone is provided at the cabin and the phone number is sent along with check-in instructions.

LOFTED BEDROOM: There are no walls or doors that separate the lofted sleeping area from the living space on the main floor. This cabin would not be suitable for guests who would like privacy in sleeping quarters. Would be ideal for a small family with kids older than 5 years old.

Excellent location close to attractions in a private setting with lovely nature views too! We loved the quaint cabin that was full of charm and character! Highly recommended for small families/small groups looking to get away for a few days! The trail & creek on the property were an added bonus for us!

Quiet little cabin

Great little cabin for a couple! It was big enough to not feel cramped but cozy enough to get away and relax. We didn’t spend enough time here with all the activities in the area available - Amicalola Falls, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, White Water Rafting near Bryson City, SC. Next time we will plan a day of no activities to enjoy more of what the cabin had to offer.

I stayed at the Big Dipper for 5 days . The cabin was adorable and comfortable. I especially loved the outdoor fire pit, hammock and walking down on the private trail to the creek.

Down time getaway

We had a great stay at Camp Away. Getting in touch with the property manager was a breeze. The cabin was neat and clean and perfect for my husband and I to get away and spend time together. I only have positive things to say. I will add that the cabin is 30 minutes away from anything to do or eat. We knew this when booking. The road there is a little rough but expect that in the mountains. I would recommend getting there before night fall. The property is great for a romantic trip or even a family trip.

Renew your soul in this comfy cabin

Shinrin-yoku is a form of meditative hiking, and evidence of its benefits is so compelling that writing a prescription for the practice has become standard in Japan. If you want to write an Rx for yourself, make it for The Camp Away! The cabins’ setting is so perfect for R&R that you will not want to go anywhere else. Stock up on groceries, swing by R&A Orchard, then head on over! It’s a little off the beaten path but driving instructions are easy to follow. A bonus of being away from crowded towns is the breathtaking number of visible stars in the sky. And by day, you can take the easy walk down to the creek (a walking stick or trekking pole is recommended) and lose yourself in the forest. You have a porch and a balcony from which to enjoy the view, soak in the sun or feel the breeze. The cabin itself is welcoming and cozy, with charming personality and attention to detail. Despite being away from it all, the wi-fi and TV streaming worked just fine. We cooked all our meals in the kitchen and even enjoyed clean up - the tree view from the kitchen window was positively delightful. This is a perfect getaway and little adventure for couples or families and we will definitely be back
