About this property
Mountainside Home in Lost River - Hot Tub, Sprawling Decks, Spacious
Welcome to Rocky Branch Retreat, your serene escape nestled in the woods of Lost River with woodsy West Virginia mountainside views. Just a short drive from Washington, DC (under 2 hrs) and Pittsburgh (3 hrs), this charming, dog-friendly cabin is the perfect destination for families and friends, couples, or solo adventurers looking to unplug, unwind, and reconnect with nature—without sacrificing modern comforts like a hot tub, high-speed fiber optic internet, smart TVs, and EV charging.
Rocky Branch Retreat offers three spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite full bathroom stocked with basic toiletries. The second level boasts a great room with vaulted wooden ceilings, multiple skylights for abundant natural light, and plenty of comfortable seating around the wood-burning fireplace and massive 70-inch smart TV—perfect for a movie, game, or sports night. Open a bottle of wine and cook a meal in the full kitchen stocked with cooking essentials, and equipped with a gas range stove, new fridge and filtered water dispenser, and extended bar seating for 5. You can also grill up some locally butchered steak on the deck's gas grill, overlooking the hillside.
Step out to the upper screened porch to enjoy a meal at the large dining table, and then curl up on the wrap-around couch in front of the outdoor wood-burning fireplace. In the lower screened porch, enjoy a relaxing dip in the very large hot tub. The cabin also offers two levels of 360-degree wrap-around decks with plenty of spots to take in the mountainside views and unmatched stargazing. Just steps away from the cabin, gather around the fire pit surrounded by string lights and make some s’mores and memories.
Drive up the neighborhood's steep and winding dirt road to reach the cabin and its five wooded acres of mountainside hiking, nearby parks, lakes, rivers, hikes, biking, dining, and more in Lost River.
Other Amenities to make your stay comfortable:
• Reliable high-speed fiber optic WiFi and multiple smart TVs
• Pet-friendly accommodations
• Fresh beach and bath towels, bed linens, and access to a washer and dryer
• Firewood and starters for the indoor and outdoor fireplaces
• A workspace in the upstairs bedroom with a desk and docking station
• A universal EV charger with built-in adapters for Tesla and non-Tesla EVs
Please note that the cabin is strictly non-smoking.
The driveway is steep, and 4WD is advised during the winter months. In icy conditions, you may need to park at the bottom of the driveway and walk up to the house (approximately 150 ft).
The primary living space is located on the second floor, so be prepared to use a flight of stairs during your stay.
Respect for Neighbors: While the cabin offers a secluded retreat, there are nearby neighbors, if you're looking for a place to host large or loud parties, this is not the right fit. Parties are prohibited.
Plan Ahead for Essentials: There are no attractions within walking distance, and food delivery services are unavailable. Be sure to bring any groceries or essentials you’ll need for your stay and plan to drive to nearby destinations.
