Romantic Apartment With Garden 2 Minutes' Walk From Pitti Palace
Santo Spirito-Piazza Pitti apartment with garden sleeps 2/4. This newly-renovated apartment is located on the first floor of an old building 50 metres from Piazza Pitti. It is about 45 square metres and has the rare feature of a beautiful walled garden which, being at the back of the building, is a haven of peace and birdsong in the centre of the city. The living room has a mezzanine floor with a double bed. On the lower level is a comfortable sofa bed and seating area, large wardrobe, desk and work area with internet connection and large window overlooking the garden. The spacious kitchen has a traditional marble-topped table that seats four comfortably, an armchair corner and a door leading out onto the garden. The bathroom is done out in pale stone with slate grey tiling on the floor: it is contemporary and chic and really quite large for an apartment of this size. There is a small storage room too. There are oak floors throughout. The garden has jasmine and antique roses climbing the walls and fresh herbs for use in your Tuscan cooking: a table and chairs provide a perfect spot for al fresco meals and aperitivi. Although we are at present renting this apartment out, we have deliberately restored it with a view to using it as our own pied-a-terre in Florence one day, so we have not cut corners! There is a private garage for parking 5 minutes walk away (not ours); there is a daily charge.

Our stay was wonderful. We felt perfectly at home and loved the location. We loved that we were within walking distance to pretty much everything - groceries, restaurants, city center, tourist attractions.
Great stay in a well equipped and good size apartment. Air conditioning was welcomed on a hot stretch of days. We were welcomed with a bottle of prosecco. A couple of strange house rules that we hadn’t seen with short term rentals before (expected to stock toilet paper, soap and shampoos for next guests). Apart from that, we had a lovely stay and would recommend it
Cute little apartment in the perfect location for seeing Florence on foot. We really enjoyed meeting the owner and she was responsive to our needs. Great place to stay!
Nikki was incredibly helpful and the location was perfect. Just a few minutes walk from all the action but on a quiet street. Would definitely stay there again!
The property was just as described, and lovely to stay at. It had all we needed and was close to all the attractions.
Nicky was a lovely host and very accommodating. We completely recommend.
Apartment was a convenient walk to everywhere you want to be in Florence. Had all of the amenities and the host was wonderful to work with. I would most definitely return in the future!
Apartment is located centrally, walking distance to many attractions and train station. Getting into apartment with luggage was an exercise. Main challenge was the slow draining shower, we had to rinse feet in sync after the shower.

Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
Communication with Nicky was great and she also had an extensive compendium with lots of information and recommendations. The apartment was as advertised. Lovely outdoor courtyard for pre dinner drinks or early morning breakfast. The stairs to the loft bedroom could be a little challenging for some. Easy walk to Ponte Vechio and lots of dining in the area.
We loved this apartment and the private garden area. There is jasmine planted which smells great, and you can hear the faint sound of church bells while sitting out there which is nice. Would come again without any hesitation! Wouldn't even look for another place.
This property could not have been more perfectly located and the hostess could not have been more gracious! It is a sweet little flat and you feel immediately like you are home. We wish we could have enjoyed the Prosecco, Peaches and Garden, but we were so busy we didn’t get to slow down and relax!
Beautiful, well-maintained garden apartment in the lovely San Spirito neighborhood in central Florence. We were able to walk everywhere we needed to get to; museums, trattorias/cafes, spits of interest, etc. in the city center but yet quiet and secluded, with our own private garden! We would stay here again for sure!!
very helpful
Not only a great little apartment in a super location, but Nicky didn’t evince the slightest bit of annoyance with me for having misplaced the apartment keys twice.
The apartment did not disappoint! It was incredibly charming, extremely clean, and the location could not be beat. The outdoor garden was an added bonus to what was already a lovely place. Spectacular location if, like me, you like to be in more of a neighborhood/local area. Nicky was so gracious and provided a perfect list of restaurants, markets and shops! It’s also located very close to the Boboli Garden, not to be missed. This felt like the real Florence!
This very comfortable, well equipped apartment is as shown in the photographs. We have stayed in Florence several times and we particularly enjoyed being in the Oltrano area - close enough to walk everywhere, but away from the frenetic, noisy busyness that is most of Florence. The kitchen is great, very well equipped and very roomy by Italian standards, as is the bathroom. The garden courtyard is an excellent bonus and although we didn’t use it much, being winter, it would be wonderful during the other times of the year. Nicky is a gracious and attentive host and the booking, check in and stay all went very smoothly.
Nicky our host was amazing- let me start with that! We had some small issues at the start that she was unaware of, but she handled things immediately. I have rated this property a 4 ONLY because of the noise from the apartment above. They were very disturbing! I had seen comments about this in earlier reviews but nothing recent so assumed it was no longer a problem. It may be new tenants so Nicky was already dealing with it when we left. I would just want to be assured this was no longer happening before booking.again it

Wonderful Apartment With It's Own Tranquil Garden
We stayed at Nicky's lovely apartment for four nights. Nicky is the perfect host, knowledgeable and helpful. The apartment is in a great location, allowing access to all the Oltrarno has to offer while avoiding the crowds. The apartment itself is great...spotlessly clean, cozy and comfortable. There is a large wardrobe with plenty of space for clothes, camera equipment, etc. Although we didn't cook during our stay, the kitchen would certainly have been up to the task, as it has modern appliances and is well stocked. We especially appreciated the Nespresso machine for that first caffè of the morning! The highlight is the garden. How special to come back after a day amongst the crowds of Florence to find yourself in a private garden, surrounded by flowers and herbs, listening to the birdsong and the murmurs of neighborhood life, while enjoying a glass of wine. We hope one day to return for a longer stay...thank you Nicky!

Lovely Apartment, immaculately Furnished.
Top Tip......Florence is really not that big and you can definitely walk around all the sights. So, that established this apartment is the PERFECT place to stay whilst walking to aforementioned sights! I booked without really understanding how close everything is in Florence, I was really nervous hearing that the apartment was on the other side of the river, but, when I realised that the river was a 300 metre walk and the walk was direct down one road and crossed the river via the Ponte Vecchio....could a walk to sights get any better??? The apartment itself is lovely and is perfect for a couple or family of four, it has only just been refurbished to a very high standard, we actually ate in twice becuase the cookware was quality and the fresh food from all the surrounding delis, irresistible. Nicky who owns the apartment is very modest, she is actually a travel writer on Florence and is a gold mine of information, read her tips on where to eat and drink and you will not go wrong. For fans of Dan Brown, most of the action from his recent book takes place around this apartment, read it whilst you stay here and then go and look at all the places mentioned. Florence is brilliant, but, if you are reading this you probably already know. So, sticking to the apartment. 5 stars, it is worth it.
We loved the location! Nicky and her restaurant recommendations were the very best. She was also available for any questions. We would stay with her again!
Charming apartment in a nice area of Florence. Excellent restaurants, bars and shops nearby. Kitchen is well-equipped, and we appreciated the welcome bottle of Prosecco. Our primary challenge was due to a rail strike on the day of our arrival, and we came to find out how tightly coordinated the check-in time needs to be. We had to meet the host in person on a day when our travel was complicated by limited transportation. Beyond that, we had a great time and recommend the apartment.
The location is absolutely unbeatable if you are looking to stay in authentic Florence away from the tourists. The apartment was as advertised and shown in the photos. The main downside is the neighbors. We tried to relax in the garden one evening only to experience competing music from two different apartments. Sleeping was disrupted on multiple occasions by the sound of footsteps overhead, sometimes for hours in the middle of night. It was literally like someone was pounding on the floor above.
Compact apartment with garden close to Ponte Vecchio
Nicky was a perfect host, meeting us outside the apartment block entrance and took time to show us around. The apartment was a real find, with it’s own secluded courtyard garden (rarely found in Firenze) and perfectly located within a few minutes walk of the main attractions, museums and galleries. The upper mezzanine bed was supplied with crisp sheets and comfy with some air fans and A/C for hotter nights. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and gelato outlets plus a dog friendly park just 10 minutes walk away, meant this was a perfect choice to explore. Nearby is a garage to park your car if you bring one. We’ll be back !!
Nicky is a very friendly host. We had a great communication and easy check-in. The apartment has everything you need for a short stay. A bed was comfortable. It’s important to me as I want to be well-rested whilst I am travelling. The apartment location is perfect. It’s a few minutes away from Palazzo Pitti and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants around. A private parking we booked upon Nicky’s recommendation was within 5 minutes walking distance from the appartment. I strongly recommend to book a parking space in advance.

About the host
Hosted by Nicky Swallow
I am English and Luca is Florentine: I have lived in Florence since 1981. We live around the corner from the apartment just off Piazza Santo Spirito and would not want to live anywhere else. We will always be on hand to help out with any practical problems and to make sure you get the most from your stay in this beautiful city.
Why they chose this property
A garden, even a small one, is a dream in the centre of Florence: we couldn't resist!
What makes this property unique
The location of Casa Giardino is perfect: the Oltrano is the most interesting area of Florence, removed from the worst of the tourist crowds yet within easy walking distance of all the main sights and monuments. The combination of this location and the fact of having a garden to retreat to after a hard days' sightseeing is unique.
