Casita Granada is located on a three acre estate in the breezy hills of exclusive Pilon in the western center of the island. The two bedroom 1 bath Casita is placed in a tropical garden teaming with flowers, fruit and birds. The property includes electronic gate access. A quick drive will take you to the glorious beaches of Vieques and the lively village of Esperanza. Come bask in the sun during the day and sleep to the sound of the tropical breezes at night. The first sounds you will hear as you arrive at Casita Granada (Pomegranate Cottage) is the rustling of the bamboo as it blows in the tropical breeze. Located on a gated, private, 3 acre property San Pascual de Ceboruco in Pilon, Casita Granada is a jewel box, housing antiques collected in Puerto Rico mixed with modern pieces. We call the style well-traveled Spanish Colonial. There are two bedroom options in the Casita. The first is the gracious queen bedroom with an antique four poster bed and air conditioning. The second room with a twin bed is referred to as the snoring room, a place to escape our significant others nocturnal snores. It is also a well-appointed space for friends to sleep in separate rooms or the perfect place for an afternoon nap! A wide variety of books are located in the casita for your trip to the beach. Streaming TV is also available in the queen bedroom for the occasional rainy day. The living room, kitchen and dining room are located in one air conditioned room. Comfortable seating, a generous sized planters desk, dining for 4 guests and spacious cooking area will make it fun to stay in and cook. As a matter of fact you may not want to leave! Wake in the morning and fix yourself a cup of coffee in the well-appointed kitchen and take a stroll. The property is a tropical garden in progress. Our focus is on tropical fruit trees and ornamentals. Watch for birds including the Ani and nesting Peregrine Falcons. Duck as the humming birds zip through the air. Pack your cooler with lunch and hop into your rental car for a short drive to explore our beautiful island. The best beaches are in the Wildlife Reserve where there are no houses. No need to worry about not staying on the water, you will experience the best of both worlds of Vieques. Enjoy the days on the water and the night in the hills of exclusive, breezy Pilon. The kitchen is well stocked with all of the tools to cook a gourmet meal including a gas stove. During season you can pick fruit your own fruit on the property including mangoes, guava, limones, bananas, and lots of tropical exotics! Housekeeping can be arranged for an additional fee. No need to worry about packing the beach essentials, chairs, coolers and towels are provided. We require renting a car to see the best of Vieques. Make sure to plan well in advance as they are frequently sold out! While guests are allowed access to the entire property, we do request that they respect the owner’s privacy by avoiding the owner’s residence during the quiet hours of 10:00 pm - 10:00 am. As the residence is well removed from the Casita this will not inhibit your enjoyment of the grounds at San Pascual de Ceboruco.

Casita Granada was everything as described and much more. We had an amazing few days exploring Vieques and Casita Granada was the perfect home for that. Kate was super helpful and a gracious host. We can't wait to go back!
We enjoyed our stay at Kate and Scott's home in Pelan. The home was clean, beds comfortable - and wonderful 'homey' and thoughtful touches throughout
A great location - mid point in all directions of the island
What a beautiful property!!! Can’t say enough good things!!! The check-in was wonderful, the bed was comfy. Amazing casita ❤️. We will definitely be back!!!
We had an absolutely perfect getaway! The casita and grounds were lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our daily excursions hiking to uncrowded (no other people on many!) beaches. We had great food at Tin Box, El Quénepo, Duffy’s, El Blok and the food trucks. Definitely a soul soothing trip!
The house and grounds were simply beautiful, well-designed, and stocked for beach, reading, snorkeling, and cooking. Kate had excellent information online and was very warm and welcoming throughout the visit . She knows everyone on island and helped us find all kinds of things to do! Five stars
Well appointed comfortable home located on a beautiful private homestead in the hills. The only sound you hear will be insects and birds.
We have benn coming to Vieques since 2009. We enjoyed having living space vs. just a hotel room.
We look forward to staying here next January.
Charmed Large Casita on Beautiful Landscaped Grounds
We stayed three weeks at this property. It has the important kitchen amenities. The two cooling wall units worked well for keeping you cool but not too cool. There are three ceiling fans, which moves the cool air through the rooms. It is a tastefully decorated casita in it's Spanish motif. The bed was a bit firm but we could sleep on it.
We had an amazing experience staying at La Casita! Kate was a wonderful host who took extra special care of us. She even coordinated with our rental car place to help get us picked up at the airport. She gave us a full tutorial of where to go and what to see! Kate went way above the call of duty. La Casita was extremely clean. It's small, but it has everything we needed. It is so quiet there and very private! I highly recommend it for couples. We will certainly stay there again next time we visit!

Thank you for staying at Casita Granada! We enjoyed meeting you. Please come back and stay with us again soon.
Warm regards,
Kate and Scott
Just an unbelievable property. From the grounds to the casita, to the furnishings, everything was perfect.
This truly is the place to relax when you come back from a day of exploring beaches.
Kate was very responsive before we arrived, and has thoughtfully put together a guide to the island that has all of the thoughtful touches you can expect to find on the property when you arrive. We also were able to glean some great tips in person as we saw them working around the grounds!
We truly enjoyed our stay and loved Vieques, but staying at this rental would be half the reason we want to return so much.
Thanks again!
Casita Granada has all details of a high-end designer interior while maintaining the cozy feel of home. Our hosts were attentive to every request. The property is a very sophisticated garden site with many prized flowering plants and fruit trees. We feel fortunate to have had the chance to stay at Granada!
I've stayed at VRBOs around the world, and this one ranks in my top three. It's wonderful, and so is the host, Kate. This was our first time visiting Vieques Island and it's a trip we put together in only two days, as we were pivoting from a long-arranged trip to Mexico that no longer was feasible. Kate was so helpful as I tried to quickly find an affordable flight to the island (Vieques Air Link) and a rental car (Maritza's). Once there, she greeted us at the casita and told us about private beaches and hiking trails and restaurants and - now our very favorite memory - the Esperanza Riding Company, where we went horseback riding on the beaches. The casita itself is beautiful, clean and comfortable, with a wonderful front porch for morning coffee. At night, we were serenaded by birds and frogs. We are already talking about coming back again. Thank you, Kate!
The entire rental process was smooth as silk. Excellent communication with host, Kate. We arrived at Casita and it was even more beautiful in person. Wonderful home! Can’t wait to return!!!
Where to begin!?
It was so hard to leave this little slice of heaven in the hills of Vieques after an eight-day trip.
The casita on Kate and Scott's three acres of land immediately felt like home, a reprieve from the heat and bustling barrios.
In the morning, we’d wake to coffee on the porch. And in the evening, we’d cap off another great day with a drink at sunset.
When we set out to explore the island each day, we felt cared for and armed with just the right gear and knowledge.
This is all thanks to our hosts' thoughtfulness in every way — decor, communication and medical advice (minor sea urchin run-in).
We could write a whole other entry on Scott’s incredible cooking, which drew us back to el Quenepo twice, and hopefully again and again in the future.
The casita itself was super clean and in a great location (15 minutes from almost every part of the island... and about 12 minutes from Esperenza).
We would definitely recommend a car to anyone visiting (Maritza's Car Rental was awesome -- we got a very clean Kia Soul for about $65 a day and they will pick you up at the airport 10 minutes away). Some of the more adventurous beaches take you off the main road (and on serious rubble). Oh and watch out for the horses while driving, they're everywhere! And they love apples.
After much research, we learned Vieques Air Link (the less expensive puddle jumper compared to Cape Air) is a better option than taking the ferry (which we heard was unreliable and an hour drive from San Juan airport).
Also, if you can, try to spend a night or two in Old San Juan. We did a night on either side of our trip and it just made for easier travel days and allowed us to explore a whole other wonderful area.
We are incredibly grateful to Kate and Scott for opening up their world to us, and we will definitely be returning!
Thank you!
Our stay at Casita Granada was the most fabulous getaway and we are already planning our return trip as it was so hard to leave. The Casita is even more perfect than the pictures and felt so warm and inviting the minute we walked in. The property itself was so peaceful and tranquil and we spent so much time sitting on the porch listening to symphony of birds, frogs and gentle breeze. Kate and Scott are the perfect hosts and Kate was so responsive and went above and beyond to help make our anniversary celebration even more special. I would so highly recommend this piece of paradise!!
Kate was a great hostess! From offering us an early check in to making ng sure we had everything we needed. We haven't been to Vieques since 2018...we couldn't wait to get back. It was a great week.
I loved my stay at the Casita Granada! The casita is in excellent condition and has been decorated in an international/Spanish Colonial style influenced by the host’s travels through Latin America and features some of the small treasures she found along the way. Furnishings are high-quality throughout and the kitchen is well-equipped for meal preparation at home. The owner has obviously put a lot of care and work into making the casita a special place, far better than any hotel or thrown-together rental room.
The casita is about a 15-minute drive from either “town,” and after exploring them you may decide that cooking at home is the best option (Isabel II is the official town and mostly serves the local community; Esperanza serves tourists but most restaurants are merely tourist-trail quality) (notable exceptions are the casita owner’s restaurant in Esperanza, El Quenepo, and Tin Box, which is closer to the casita). A vehicle is necessary when staying here.
Set high on a ridge between the north and south slopes, the breezes ensured that it never got too hot – I never needed to turn on the AC; just left the ceiling fans on low and that was all that was needed. There are two other homes on the 3-acre property, the owner’s and another smaller casita, which are fairly close to this casita – however because of the landscaping and position, it feels very private. The owner maintains fruit trees and small gardens across the property which are nice to look at from the front porch or on a stroll around the grounds. Birdsong and frog calls fill the evening air for a few hours from dusk; it’s rather loud but really feels like you’re up in the forest!
The owner, Kate, was extremely helpful and eager to make sure I had a great stay. She picked me up at the airport and took me to pick up my rental car since the rental agency didn’t have anyone to send to pick me up, drew up maps showing me where to see some of the highlights of the island, and was very helpful with local advice. Communication pre- and post-stay was fast and helpful, and she was interested in how to improve her property (I offered some very small suggestions such as a salt & pepper shaker; the only thing that I would say is a caution is that the bed in the master bedroom is very high from the floor and may be difficult for smaller or older people to jump into). During my stay, she had the just the right balance of being helpful/available/interested without being TOO much of any of those.

Dear Eric,
Thank you for your thoughtful review of Casita Granada. We so enjoyed having you as our guest. I really appreciate your feedback and am glad to let you know that we have added salt and pepper shakers on your recommendation (and a cruet!). Also we have placed the order for two step stools for the queen bedroom to make it easier to hop into the antique bed. They should be here in mid-April. We hope you will come back and enjoy the serenity of Casita Granada and of course return to our restaurant El Quenepo. Best wishes for fun, adventure filled travels in your future!
Warm regards,
Kate Cole
About the host
Hosted by Kate Cole
I adore Vieques and my island life. My husband and I have owned and operated El Quenepo, our restaurant on the Malecón since 2007 and our guesthouse Puertas at El Quenepo since 2020. We love welcoming guests to the island and sharing our corner of paradise.
Why they chose this property
We love the serenity and peace in our neighborhood.
What makes this property unique
Casita Granada is located on the three acre property of San Pascual de Ceboruco surrounded by a tropical garden. The only sounds are the wind, bamboo rustling and the chirp of local birds. We are just a five minute walk from Finca Victora (the best neighbors ever!). They offer (with a prior reservation) daily yoga, a fabulous vegan breakfast and incredible wellness treatments.
At Casita Granada you will truly escape from the cares of the world.
