Harpers Hideaway is located across from the magnificent Mississippi River and nestled below the beautiful bluffs of Harpers Ferry. This spacious new condo is perfect for a family or group of friends to getaway with lots of room for everyone. This is a two floor condo with 4 large bedrooms upstairs. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds, the Master bedroom has a king size bed and one bedroom has full size bunk beds. Also upstairs is a beautifully tiled walk in shower, double sink vanity and a toilet room for additional privacy. Located in the downstairs of the condo is a large kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances and stunning granite countertops. The back side of the countertop is a bar height counter with additional seating. The living room area has plush carpeting, soft leather furniture including couch, reclining loveseat and reclining chair. The fireplace entertainment center has a large flat screen T.V. The downstairs bathroom has a shower, single sink vanity, toilet and full size washer and dryer. Enjoy the mornings peaceful sunrise by sitting out on the beautifully stamped patio. The cabin has comfortable patio furniture and an outdoor grill. In the evenings enjoy a stunning sun setting behind the bluff.

Family gathering

This was our third stay at this spacious home! Wonderful size living spaces throughout! Large kitchen with a lot of items to use. We made large family meals with several preparing at one time. Living room space comfortable and spacious! Terrific size bedrooms and very comfortable beds. There are several air mattresses available for extra sleeping options.

Family getaway 2018

Large enough for our family get together. It was close to the places we wanted to visit. Nicely decorated. It had great appliances, but the cookware was awful. (Wish they had non stick).The floors needed a good scubbing. (We ruined a few pair of socks before we chose to just wear our shoes inside). We would stay again if those issues were addressed.

Great location and experience!

Tons of parking for toys and far enough from the main part of town and boat ramps that don’t have to manage traffic with other trailers etc.Room to spread out but still have group activities and enjoy a nice weekend away.

We will return again and again!

We had a bit of trouble accessing entry, but the hosts were super apologetic and made it up to us! This house was the BEST setup for our group and we will be sure to book again next year! Super clean! Spacious! And amazing location. We are no strangers to Harpers Ferry but a place where our group can all be together in one place is hard to find and this was perfection!

Beautiful place to stay in what we have come to know as Gods country. Love the drift-less area. So much to do and see in the surrounding area, but the condo is so comfortable it’s hard to leave. The Spillway has the best Pizza in the area, but there are many other choices in the area. Will definitely book again The Mottet’s

Family reunion

My siblings and i rented this place for annual gathering. My brother and his wife as well as one of my sisters arrived early at the property and Christal happened to be there staying in the other side of the house and she let them in early. She is extremely nice and helpful. They do not expect you to fo a lot of things before checking out. We did do the usual garbage and start dishwasher. A couple closet doors came off the track or something and they told us not to worry about it and they would have them fixed. Beautiful house with everything you need, I mean everything. All the rooms in the house are very large and spacious. Nice park down the street and boating ramps and fishing area. They have a lot of turtle crossing signs which was cool. Near a lot state parks and beautiful countryside. Town is very small with minimal for groceries but there is a walmart 20 miles away in another town but that is the only downside. Townspeople were very friendly too. The cost is at our top price, but we will rent here again!

Thanksgiving Celebration

This was a return visit to this property and again enjoyed everything about the home! We were celebrating Thanksgiving with our family in the town my parents live which makes it very convenient for them as well. The property is very well equipped for all your needs from the kitchen, bedrooms and bath! We made a full meal every day for 11 people one being Thanksgiving and all the fixings! Alll the rooms are very spacious. We plan to continue this tradition for our family! Nine of us slept at the property and their was plenty of space!

Great location, very clean!

We came for a fall hiking weekend and this property gave us easy access to Effigy Mounds, Wylusing, Pikes Peak and I am sure many others we weren't able to squeeze in. The property is very clean, with plenty of linens, towels and blankets. The kitchen is extremely well equipped to do any cooking. There were only 4 of us but you could easily fit more people comfortably. Great place to stay!

Other than slipping on a prior damaged rug. It was a good stay. I slipped and fell coming in the door and at first thought I broke my leg. Buy was a sprain. Please replace that rug.

Extended Weekend Stay for Bass Tournament

The last couple years, family members have met for a nearby local Bass Tournament. Harpers Hideaway has provided plenty of space to park boats trailers and the house itself has worked out fantastic. Extremely clean, large kitchen, great big comfortable chairs around the TV, and the rooms upstairs work out great for our family. This has been our second stay and we look forward to returning again some time in the future.

Family time.

Easy check in. Home was beautiful and very comfortable. Very clean! With having little ones it wasn’t ideal outside for us. We had a small patio area connected to a gravel parking lot. So know grassy area to play. We were offered their front yard but then you couldn’t watch them. Scenery was poor. No pretty views from windows or patio. Just a parking lot. But it’s what your going for. With just adults it may not matter. The owners were very nice. As I said also the home is beautiful. It just wasn’t right for us with kids. Luckily we rented a pontoon boat and the weather was perfect.

Great Escape!

This rental is amazing. Check-in and communication with owner was easy. Place was extremely clean which is important to us. My husband and I brought along 3 children aged 12-14 and 2 aged 18. There was more than plenty of space for us in the kitchen, living and sleeping areas. Bedrooms are very large and well furnished. Plenty of towels in the bathrooms. It was nice having a washer and dryer in unit. Grill with gas provided was an added bonus. There were also 2 bikes provided which our children really enjoyed. It was a great escape for the 4 days we stayed and our planning our return.

About the host

Erich and I are from Northeast Iowa and have two businesses in West Union. We have two children that go to North Fayette Valley School district. We have been campers, RV travelers and then purchased a trailer in Harpers Ferry several years ago and fell in love with the town and the people here.

Why they chose this property

We purchased what was known as The Harbor House in 2016 and did a total remodel to make it our cabin in the front portion of the building and a rental condo in the rear portion . We enjoy this area because of the beautiful view of the river, the stunning bluffs with thick foliage and the peacefulness of the town. We enjoy going for bike rides with our kids through Harpers or hopping onto the golf cart and visiting friends. We are close to the boat landing so access to the river takes no extra time. We enjoy taking our kids out on the Mississippi River in our boat. They enjoy skiing, tubing, and visiting with friends at the beautiful sand bars. At the end of the day we enjoy grilling out and sitting around a campfire roasting s'mores and watching the sunset behind the bluff creating a picture perfect scenery.
