A spectacular historic property perched on the edge of Lake Granby, 30 minutes from Winter Park Resort, with sweeping views of Rocky Mountain National Park. It has a stunning top-of-the-line "mountain modern" vibe and is perfect for a gathering of up to 16 guests. The 8,800 square foot home has expansive shared spaces to spread out in, including multiple lounging areas, 2 decks, and 2 kitchens.
The space
The home was once a restaurant and inn, so it has expansive shared spaces to spread out in, including multiple lounging areas, 2 decks, and 2 kitchens. The main floor has a gourmet cook's kitchen (stocked with spices), an oversized island, a dining area, and 2 lounging areas. The great room includes a 15-foot bar, a huge stacked stone gas fireplace, and a game area with pool table. The main floor has a huge deck hanging over the lake. The main deck has a bbq, dining table, couches, and a firepit.
The home features 7 bedrooms (plus a bunk area downstairs) and 8 1/2 bathrooms. Every bedroom has its own bathroom and spectacular lake views.
The master suite upstairs has a King bed, a separate office (with desk and printer), and a den with a Queen sleeper sofa. The upper bedroom wing has 4 Queen bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. The lower bedroom wing has 2 bedrooms (1 King plus a twin sleeper futon, 1 Queen, each with en-suite bathroom). Here you will also find a second living room, a second full kitchen, and another deck overlooking the lake. The walk-out basement has 3 beds (1 bunkbed, 1 twin) plus a Queen sleeper sofa and a full bathroom.
The hot tub is on the patio outside, overlooking the lake. Other things to note Please note: 1. SUMMER: Like most homes in this area, our home does not have air conditioning. Average summer temperatures rarely exceed 80 degrees, and the nights usually cool to under 50 degrees. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan. There are extra standing fans as well if needed for the main areas. 2. SUMMER: Feel free to bring a boat! There is ample room to park a boat on the property, and there are several public boat ramps nearby for easy access to Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Grand Lake. 3. SUMMER: There is no direct access from the property to Lake Granby, as we are on a steep, rocky slope. Indian Peaks Marina (right next door) and various beach entry points on the lake are available for lake access 4. WINTER: In the winter, a snow removal company will clear the driveway and walkways of snow after significant snowfall (generally 2" or more). To maintain safe access, guests should periodically expect to clear lighter amounts of snow from walkways and the driveway. Even with proper snow management, walkways and the driveway will be slippery in spots at times. 5. WINTER: If you are staying here in the winter, we recommend that you purchase a snow scraper for your car and have four wheel drive or carry chains.
HOUSE RULES: 1. No smoking 2. No pets 3. No parties, large gatherings, or events 4. Respect our neighbors 5. Quiet hours are 7 pm - 7 am per Grand County rules 6. Use of hot tub is at your own risk and subject to posted rules 7. There is parking for about 10 cars on the property. Parking on the road is not permitted 8. Supervise children outside 9. Do not leave food outside 10. Do not approach or feed the wildlife, which include moose, elk, deer, bear, mountain lions, and foxes 11. Enjoy your stay!
