Rustic Cabin on 17 acres of wilderness-1000 ft waterfront w/Ottawa Valley view
Enjoy a real Canadian experience at our cabin in the woods. Our cabin overlooks the Ottawa Valley and Muskrat Lake. Have a bonfire and enjoy smores while taking in the amazing view cliffside. We have two fire pits, one on the cliffside and one by the bunkie. Our cabin is very secluded and private on 17 acres of wilderness. We have lots of wildlife, for example: deer, raccoons, fox, bear, barn owls, bald eagle and many different birds with beautiful songs. Imagine hiking, snowshoeing or cross country skiing in your own backyard. Manicured trails are nearby if preferred. Our shoreline is 1,000 feet and rocky with deep warm water. Enjoy diving off the dock or try your luck fishing. Our lake has many kinds of fish... pike, bass, etc. Or just enjoy the privacy and quietness or a good book. Summer water toys include a big floating mat, many flitter boards, canoe and aluminum boat. We have lots of room to park your boat/ATV/snowmobile trailers. OFSC and OFATV trails are very close to our cabin! The ATV/snowmobile bridge to Quebec is 10 minutes away. In the winter there is a manicured skating trail only 15 minutes away through a beautiful forest. Come and enjoy the wood burning stove and the peacefulness and privacy of “The Rock”. The cabin has a queen size bed on the main level with a double and single mattress in a shallow loft above. The bunkie has a double bed, a single bunkbed and a couch. There is also a couch in the main cabin. Only 12mins from Walmart, Canadian Tire, Food Basics, liquor/beer, Quebec, fast food, gas and restaurants. Our house rules: not suitable for children under 9, or persons with mobility issues, no smoking, no parties or events, pet friendly. No smoking anywhere on property.
- What to do in the Ottawa valley - Algonquin Park is 20 minutes away - whitewater rafting and kayaking - visit the Bonnechere caves in Eganville

Everything was as described and the hosts were super friendly and responsive. We enjoyed our stay and being unplugged for awhile. The view from the hammock is outstanding.
Stayed with my boyfriend for 5 nights and our stay was absolutely perfect! Everything about the property was gorgeous, the owners were great and prompt with replying. Close to town, which had a ton of stores to choose from. Will definitely be booking again next time we’re in the area!
My spouse and I enjoyed our weekend away together , amazing views, lots of wood to burn, getting to the water was a mission, updated outhouse would be a good investment in the future, but eveything was wonderful and the property owners were so sweet and kind
Came with a few friends and my dog. We had a great stay! It was exactly what we were looking for - something remote and rustic. Still had everything we needed - working wifi, an (outdoor) shower with warm water, a clean outhouse, a lovely dock on the water, plenty of firewood, and close enough to town. The views are amazing. Laurie and Kevin were super helpful and communicative.
The cabin was well-described as “rustic.” Outhouse rather than a toilet for example. Pretty dusty, but otherwise tidy. Beautiful view across the lake to the farmer’s fields. It is very isolated, which is nice, although the noise from the children’s camp across the lake is frequently audible because of their use of a PA. It is a long steep walk down to swimming, which one has to do either boldly using a 4-wheel drive or climbing strenuously. Once you’ve done that there is a set of stairs down to the dock. It was fine for us but wouldn’t be ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

All of what you said is in the description that some people read. As for the dust maybe we should place the bush to prevent dust. Lol
Beautiful property but would not want to stay longer than 2 days.
The property is beautiful.
The lake was not what I was expecting. The dock is not directly at the cabin like I originally thought. The outhouse was very basic. We only stayed for 2 days. Due to the outhouse, I would not want to stay any longer than that. The host was very nice and did let us go to one of her other properties so we could swim. The lake at the cabin was murky but the dog LOVE it :)
Overall we had a great time and made the best out of the few days we were there.

Hi Anonymous in the description it told you that the lake was 150 ft below the cabin. With out the height you would not get the valley views that makes our place so Unix and beautiful. As for the outhouse I don’t know what to improve on as it’s used for one thing and one thing only. Maybe a heater for the winter.
As long as you don't mind an outhouse and some bugs then you will have a great time at the rock. You are secluded with an amazing view. Everything was clean. The waterfront is about a 5 min walk down a steep hill, but its very nice. I walked it a few times and also drove it a few times. It is steep! But my Rav4 with good tires had no problem climbing the hill. I would definitely go back.

Beautiful place, shame about the detritus in the woods and issues with the manager
The property, the back roads to the property, the view, and the lake and space by the lake are all amazing! The cabin is really lovely, too - once I got used to the water running into a bucket and needing to be dumped, I could have lived there. The fire pits were fun and it was great to be able to take the canoe out. There are lots of unfinished projects, metal detritus, etc all over the property which are eyesores and a shame in the woods. Laurie was great and brought me a couple things that were missing from the kitchen. Kevin however greeted us at arrival with complaints about how annoying/stupid past guests had been and didn’t answer important messages I sent, making me feel like I should stop asking questions. For example, the big foam floating mat at the dock had ripped, had huge protruding nails and was blowing away. He never did anything about it so I finally moved it myself and let him know - never got a response and sprained my wrist trying to move and secure it.

Spectacular Sunsets and A Peaceful Environment
This million dollar view is amazing and offers a peaceful getaway. The warmth and glow of the wood stove is perfect for reading and knitting.
Thank you Kevin for sharing your cozy cabin with us.
If you’re looking for a getaway, this is the place! Spectacular views, nature all around, and a great place to sit back and relax! Honestly, it’s a little slice of heaven here on earth!
We really enjoyed our stay and adults and children had a great time. Excellent swimming and fishing right off dock and beautiful views from the fire pit area.
Great spot! Beautiful little cottage. Has everything you could want.. awesome scenery, fantastic lake, great boating, fishing and tubing.
Cant wait to go back!!
If you are looking for a step up from camping on a large private lot, this is the place for you. You do need to bring your own bedding, including blankets. Best to bring food prepared and already washed as the water source is only rain water from the tap. We were very happy with how responsive the owner was to any questions we had. We also appreciated not seeing anyone for the entire three days we were there! Loads of birds to watch and nice hiking in the area.
My wife and I booked a little get away at The Rock to unwind for a few days as our work schedule has been very hectic. We were also celebrating our 20 Anniversary. Kevin the property owner was great! He told us all about the property and how everything worked. He also gave us some information about the ATV trails in the area. We enjoyed our peaceful time at The Rock and soaked in the amazing view from the Cliffside fire pit. We would love to make it back sometime!
Perfect trip to get away before school starts again. Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Kevin Bowman
Hi, we are Laurie and Kevin Bowman. I am a newly retired RN. I worked the last 37 years in NICU in London Ontario and I so miss the babies! My husband, Kevin, worked as a professional event photographer, but now works part time blowing in spray foam insulation. We have 2 sons who are presently in college. We are "valley friendly" people and just want to make your holiday great!
Why they chose this property
This property is 17 acres of wilderness! Therefore it is very PRIVATE and QUIET. It's not unusual to wakeup in the morning and have a couple of deer outside your door. Deer are often seen in the early morning and at dusk along our 5km long private road leading into the cabin.
What makes this property unique
The view from the cliff/cabin is breathtaking! You are 150 feet above the lake and you look out over the Ottawa valley and Muskrat Lake. The cabin is cozy and warm with a woodstove. The OFSC and OFATV trails are only minutes away!
