About this property
Midwood, River Estate, Unique Retreat: 10+ Bdrm, Epic Views, 70ac, Hudson Valley
Step into Midwood on the Hudson, a soulful, art-filled property nestled on 75 private acres overlooking the Hudson River. Originally part of the 17th-century Livingston land grant, this historic estate has, for the past 40 years, been lovingly shaped by a family of artists, educators, and community builders.
Midwood is a lived-in sanctuary that invites you to slow down, gather, and create. Ideal for retreats, family reunions, and those seeking inspiration in a setting rich with character and calm.
The Space
10+ bedrooms across the main house, with room for intimate conversations or large group stays.
An expansive porch and lawn offer stunning views of the Hudson and shaded nooks to relax with a book or glass of wine.
Eclectic interiors feature original artwork, vintage furnishings, and layered textures that reflect decades of creative life.
Trails, tennis court, pool, and private river access invite both exploration and rest.
Well-equipped kitchen and gathering spaces make shared meals a central part of your stay.
A Place with History and Heart
Midwood’s roots stretch back to the Livingston family and the earliest chapters of American history. Today, it continues to foster a sense of connection—between people, nature, and ideas. The home has hosted weddings, workshops, artist residencies, and countless family memories.
It’s not just a place to stay—it’s a place to belong, even if only for a weekend.
Location
Centrally located in the Hudson Valley, Midwood is 2.5 hours from NYC and just 20 minutes from Amtrak stops in Hudson and Rhinecliff. Explore nearby towns like Germantown, Tivoli, Red Hook, Rhinebeck, and Hudson—each with their own charm, galleries, restaurants, and markets.
Note: Please Note: The listed rental rate covers self-catered use of the house and grounds for groups of up to 20 guests. If you are planning to host a professionally catered event—indoors or outdoors—additional fees and a separate event agreement apply. We’d be happy to discuss options and provide details, so please reach out if you’re considering Midwood Estate for your gathering.
