About this property

Log cabin, spectacular view, private trail. Home base for your WNC adventures.

Lake lovers, families, Dragon slayers, outdoor adventurers, romantics, look no further!

You've found your Western North Carolina hideaway away from home! Private log cabin on 40 wooded acres with mountain views.

Your toughest decision will be whether to hike/fish/kayak/bike/ride/zipline ...

or whether to relax on the deck with a sweeping view of the valley.

Enjoy the fireplace and plan adventures on the Lake, the Tail of the Dragon, or day trips to the best hidden gems. Your local (not corporate) hosts have lived in Western North Carolina for decades and can advise on your perfect vacation agenda!

Your home away from home is on 40 private wooded acres. You'll only need to 'people' as much as you choose as you soak life in the beautiful countryside. A trail right out the door leads up to the ridge for a good workout or a nice relaxing, slower stroll. Either way take a picnic, a blanket, camping chairs because you will never want to leave the serenity at the top (but you can always head back up the next day!).

When you return to the Hideaway to rest you'll be surrounded by windows so you never really feel separated from nature.

The living room has a vaulted ceiling to light your days with natural light and let you view relax and enjoy the stars and sunset in the evening.

Cozy up to the indoor fireplace while watching ROKU TV (provided) or your own subscribed apps on the 60" TV. Starlink has been highly reliable with fast Wifi! (You will want to turn on Wifi calling at all times in the house because cell signals can get lost in the forest!)

Eat your meals at the 6-top dining room table just off the kitchen, the L-shaped kitchen counter with bar stools, or outdoors on our picnic table. A door connects the kitchen/dining room to the deck for easy outdoor dining service and cleanup.

Fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and garbage disposal. You will not lack anything to prepare any meal! We provide charcoal for the grill on the back deck and you may want to head to the fireplace for s'mores for dessert!

The Master Bedroom has a king bed and en suite bath. It also has its own glass French doors leading to the deck. Another 55" TV is in this room (using Roku to stream.)

The Master bath has a separate tub and shower, and the toilet is enclosed for extra privacy. A large walk-in closet has plenty of space for all of your things, plus lots of fluffy towels.

Upstairs are two bedrooms -- one with two twin beds and one with a queen. One full bathroom with a shower. Great views of the valley from all rooms!

On the deck you'll find plenty of relaxing, comfy furniture.

Self-check in. You will only interact with your hosts (or anyone!) as much as you need to!

A Perfect Mountain Getaway

This is an absolutely gorgeous luxury cabin with breathtaking views of the mountains of North Carolina from the living room and balcony! The stunning wood cabin made us feel like we were transported to a different time, but still with the convenience of Starlink Internet and Smart TV. Angie was an incredible host and provided helpful instructions and great recommendations. We enjoyed lunch and dinner at two of her restaurant recommendations and hiked the AT on a trail she suggested in her guide. She was super flexible with check-in and checkout and her responses were lightning quick. Overall, my wife and I could not have been happier celebrating our wedding anniversary at this lovely hideaway!

I was impressed with this property from the moment I pulled up. It's charmingly isolated, making it feel like you are nestled into your own little cabin in the woods. The interior felt spacious and well decorated and I'm obsessed with the windows. I couldn't get enough of the porch, what a lovely view! It was perfect with a little table I could work at or a little conversation area to just relax. The kitchen is very well equipped and easy to find things.I set myself up in the leather recliner and just about spent the night there, I was so comfortable. Don't worry, I did move to the bedroom, which was also just as comfortable. The house is a little creaky, but nothing too bad. I would absolutely stay there again and again. I also was obsessed with the telescope they have there!

Delightful

The Hideaway was just what the doctor ordered! We were tucked away on this mountain, watching the clouds (and a little rain), and it felt like all the craziness of the rest of the world had vanished.I pretty much travel to fish, and we had such a great time doing that every day (try RiversEdge Outfitters! Joy was our favorite guide!). But it was also a little hard to tear ourselves away from the house, which is a true Hideaway. We did the private "Quest" trail behind the house for a good workout and then relaxed in hammocks on top of the ridge. At first we weren't sure we'd find places to go nearby but the Kin Cafe in Robbinsville had a good selection of beers and a fun game night. Our hosts gave us plenty of ideas of things to do and answered questions almost as quickly as we asked them. Turns out there was plenty to keep us busy and tearing ourselves away from the Hideaway on the last day was hardest of all.Very clean and just as pictured! Can I give it 6 stars? Maybe 7? We will definitely be back and recommend to everyone wanting to get away from it all!

About the host

Hosted by ANGIE Bell

Host profile image
Your host is a retired firefighter who adored hosting a Short Term Rental until Helene. One guest said all hosts should have to take a Master class in hosting from me; it was easy because I truly treat guests like incoming family.

The Hideaway Owner is too busy leading deep-sea expeditions as an out-of-state fishing captain to pour his soul into it like I love to!

We met through a mutual friend and The Hideaway Hosting Family came to be.

I wasn't a Superhost from Opening to Closing because my property was perfect! Houses do weird stuff! But our job is to fox that and facilitate the most perfect vacation for you. At least as far as where you stay!

I've lived in Western North Carolina for almost 30 years. Our maintenance team is native-born Graham County. We are not a big corporation and can devote ourselves to hosting.

We appreciate you choosing the Hideaway and look forward to your many return future visits!

Why they chose this property

The Hideaway owner has traveled all over the world but when he laid eyes on Lake Santeetlah for the first time, it was love at first sight. Then he caught his first lake trout and the deal was sealed!

Lake Santeetlah has been voted the most beautiful lake in the United States and our great tourist towns within an hour drive of here make for a well-rounded vacation every time we come. We can't wait to retire here so we can actually explore every new (to us) local gem we find!

What makes this property unique

Having 40 acres all to yourself is pretty great for outdoors types or folks just wanting a nice Hideaway! Thus the name!! Quick access to the Lake, your local (non-corporate) Hosting team to assist and give you insider info, great nearby towns to visit, beautiful log cabin with unparalleled views of the Nantahala Forest ... we hope you'll become part of the growing Hideaway Family!
