Enjoy drifting off to sleep with the soothing sounds of gentle lapping waves on the beach. Then waking up in the morning & with only seconds away from your Studio, you could be enjoying the first swim of the day in the incredibly blue & calm sea of Hoopers Bay - undisturbed by any other people & only a Green Turtle or two to notice you.
Later, take out one of our kayaks to further explore the bay or spend some time snorkelling.
Too much activity? Then just relax & unwind on one of our beach loungers or sea-floats until time comes for a cool drink.
Sheer bliss in the Bahamas!!

We have been pleased to have won both the Travelers Choice, and Certificate of Excellence awards for the third consecutive year from the worlds largest trip advisory organisation and based on our guests reviews.
The Studio/Efficiency offers a KING bed (or 2 x Twin beds if preferred), kitchenette with 2 hot rings, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee makers etc etc. Shower room with WC and Hand basin, dining area with table and chairs, loveseat, A/C and ceiling fan, flat screen cable TV with 53 major channels, radio/cd player. The A/C and ceiling fan ensure our guests stay in comfort.
Outside there is a private sea-facing patio with outdoor table and chairs for relaxing or al-fresco meals.
Just a few steps though our palm tree filled garden is the beautiful Hoopers Bay beach - regarded as the BEST TO STAY ON IN EXUMA and the only beach with resident GREEN TURTLES to watch or swim with !!
The 1/2 mile ( 1km ) long, soft white sandy beach slopes gently into the amazing blue, calm and safe sea for swimming, snorkeling, watching the Green Turtles or relaxing on our loungers and chairs. For the more energetic, we have FREE Kayaks for our guests to enjoy exploring more of the protected bay.
Although quietly located, George Town International airport is only 10 minutes away (our dedicated taxi driver will greet you there ) whilst the capital, GeorgeTown, is 6 minutes away. No need to drive or taxi to shops as we have a good range within a 5 minute easy walk for groceries, butcher and deli, pharmacy and liquor.
Flying to GeorgeTown airport ( GGT ) is straightforward with DIRECT daily flights on AA, Delta and United/JetBlue and Air Canada also have DIRECT flights from Toronto. More locally, there are several flights each day from Nassau on Bahamasair or Western Air taking about 35 minutes.
As we live nearby, we personally greet our guests when they arrive at Sandy Palms and are available when required to help with information or to arrange activities such as boat trips,etc.

Amazing Trip!

This was the most amazing vacation! The room was perfect and so close to the beach. We swam with sea turtles, saw shooting stars, rented a boat, snorkeled and took a water taxi to Chat N Chill to feed conch to stingrays! We could have stayed for a month. Thank you for a wonderful experience and the vacation of a lifetime.

Wonderful kind and caring Hosts. The beach they have is prime Exuma beach on Hooper’s bay. We loved having our long morning coffee on the beach, loved where Sandy Palms is located; easy to get to Georgetown, easy to get anywhere!A car rental is a must. Smitty’s grocery is less then a mile away so easy and well stocked. Peter was amazing at welcoming us and explaining everything we needed to know about the house and about the area as well. We will be back thank you Peter and Betty!

The host were great. Welcoming. accomodating and friendly as anyone could hope fore.The location was great. Beach is great. Property is tidy.A few issues with the place. The shower had very little pressure and the hot water took a long time to come. The hot plate took a long time to boil water. The hairdryer was not working but was quickly replaced. Television stopped working but was quickly fixed.

Hoopers bay: what a surprise!

Peter was a very landlord: he describes you everything about the house and the island. The apartment is small but well equipped and is very very close to the beach (my beloved ones on Exuma for sunset and turtles!). We had some problems with mosquitos due to some rainy mornings.

YOUR LITTLE PARADISE

Just returned from our vacation and absolutely enjoyed our stay at Sandy Palms. The nice and lovely studio has everything you need. And the Hooper's Beach in front of the house is just beyond gorgeous. Even after days of exploring different beautiful beaches on the island, we still found it breath-taking every afternoon after we came back. We also loved the little tropical garden in front of the house, it's a very nice 15 seconds walk before you get to the beach. You can get kayaks and paddle boards that can take you to nearby beaches. Location is absolutely A++. There are restaurants and groceries very close by and George Town is less than 10 minutes away. Since it's centrally located, it's very convenient to explore the northern and southern parts of the island, where some most famous beaches and restaurants are at. Our host, Peter, is superb. He was more than willing to answer any of our questions and provided us a lot of information about the island. We had a lot of fun chatting with him. Overall, this is definitely the place to stay if you're going to Exuma and we would definitely recommend it to our friends.

Betty & Peter moved to Exuma in 1999 after 15 years of owning and operating a popular guest house in England. They then created the Award Winning 'Coral Gardens' B&B Guest House which has been VOTED #1 on EXUMA every year since 2009 by the worlds largest travelers site.
Realising that many guests like to have a choice of being DIRECTLY on the beach, they finally found their ideal and nearby location on the beautiful Hoopers Bay which they named 'SANDY PALMS' as the garden which surrounds the property is filled with palm trees. They created a number of self-catering Studio and Apartment accommodations ranging from comfortable and economical Studio/Efficiency for a couple (one with a Queen bed & the other with 2 x Twins or 1 King bed), also a larger 2 room apartment for a family or 4 people, and a huge 8 person apartment with 4 bedroom and 4 bathrooms for groups of families or friends. This allows them to match their guests needs for the right sized and right priced accommodation and still offering peace and quiet as all the units have their own entrances in different parts of the building and separate patios and sundecks.
They were pleased to have been awarded 3 certificates of excellence by the worlds largest travel advisory company for the various studios & apartments based on guests satisfaction.
As they live nearby, they not only arrange the short taxi ride from the airport, where you will be greeted by their dedicated taxi driver, Patricia, but they will personally welcome you to 'Sandy Palms' and show you around and give you maps and other information.
Their desire is to help our guests enjoy the holiday THEY want-whether it is simply a peaceful and relaxing time or activity filled. With their combined 40+ years experience welcoming guests to Exuma they are able to make the best suggestions for making the most of a visit to the island.
