IMMACULATE, CONVENIENT, CHARMING!
Big Families & Groups of Friends LOVE this house! First floor has comfortable open floor plan with family room, kitchen, breakfast area, dining room, living room and full bedroom and new bath. This house is loved by all who visit because it has the charm of the original farmhouse and the amenities of today. The second floor has 4 large bedrooms, all newly decorated with 3 brand new baths, making shower time easy for all. Sunlight streams into the house througout the day and sea breezes waft through in the afternoon. A spacious outdoor shower is a wonderful end to any outdoor day. There is a new screened front porch for morning coffee and a back deck for evening cocktails and BBQ, A fully equipped gourmet kitchen and extra fridge make this home great for those who like to cook. But delivery is available and the restaurants are open inside and out and within walking distance.
Abundant hydrangeas, flower boxes, manicured lawn and flower garden add to the character of this special place. So close to town that you hear the bells of the Old Whaling Church chime every hour.

A wonderful retreat

This was an amazing vacation beginning with the communication from the owner to the great location to the beautiful home. It was an easy to walk to downtown Edgartown and we enjoyed the cute village. There were beach chairs and bikes for our use. The beach was an quick drive. There is a bus stop at the end of the road so it was easy to travel to other parts of the island. The home was beautiful. We especially enjoyed the back deck for relaxing and unwinding. All of the 5 bedrooms had queen beds with one having a king. That is hard to find in a rental and was perfect for 5 couples. I highly recommend this rental.

50 year reunion of friends

The property is open, spacious, very well stocked kitchen, bright, nicely decorated. There were 7 of us and we could all gather comfortably to chat in all the rooms. Lots of options to sit outside on the property and we used them all. We had a wonderful time. Very good location in town.

Location, location, vacation!

The house is nice and big-- larger than our group needed but still spacious for a large group with multiple sitting and dining areas and two staircases to the upstairs. What attracted me is that the house is walking distance to Edgartown, a lovely stroll and we could skip the hunt for parking in town. What I didn't foresee was how much we loved the outdoor shower, the screen porch, and the large open kitchen. The house is down a charming unpaved lane and walking into town we felt part of the local fabric and much less like tourists. We really appreciated the beach chairs and umbrellas provided by the host. It was so nice having a washer and dryer onsite, as well as a dishwasher in the kitchen. We cooked while there and found everything we needed for meal prep in the kitchen plus a gas barbecue. We ate either at the kitchen counter or in the screen porch, which also was the site of some spirited game nights (BYO games). There is a feeling of generosity on the part of the host and that she trusts her guests. There is a well stocked liquor cabinet if you find yourself in a lurch so we left our partial bottles behind for the next guests. There is a compact blue tooth speaker in the kitchen we connected to our phones for tunes. Notes: Every bedroom has a fan, but the house is not equipped with AC if that is important to you. You may miss in the description that renters must provide their own linens. We rented sheets and towels (bath and beach) from a vendor recommended by the host. That added about $225 for our one week stay. The Stop & Shop is nearby but the best selection is at one of the Cronig's Markets. Also, there are wonderful farm stands on the island for fresh flowers and produce.

Great House

We had a great time. The house was spacious and had everything we needed. A bit easier to get back and forth if you have a car as it’s off the beaten path, but ubers were mostly able to locate it without much trouble. Would certainly stay here again!

excellent family house

We had a fabulous holiday. The booking was very easy - Michele was always on the end of the email with quick responses. A lovely family house - child friendly! The house was spotless and we loved the availability of towels, blankets, chairs and umbrella for the beach. The bikes were very useful. We were a party of 8 adults and a 2.5 year old and we had plenty of room with 5 double bedrooms. I would highly recommend the house - it was in an ideal location very close to Edgartown and Fuller St and Lighthouses beaches. The neighbourhood is very quiet and the neighbours very friendly.

Beautiful, great location!

We had a wonderful stay at this Edgartown home. House was much larger than we anticipated and we never even used the formal dining room or the more formal living room. Grill, back porch and yard were all beautiful and so welcoming. We spent a lot of time outside! They had tons of extras of everything - necessities, towels, picnic supplies and so on. Bedrooms were all comfortable and enjoyable. Even on the hottest day the house stayed cool enough without air conditioning. We hardly even took a shower inside as we used the outdoor shower the most! It was an easy 10 minute walk/bike to town and closer to grocery/beer/gas. We used the bikes that were there - they weren't anything special (a bit old and rusty) but worked well enough. We couldn't attach our bike trailer to them bc they are a bit outdated but rented one locally which was very easy. The kitchen was spacious - but calling it a "foodie" kitchen was a stretch. Both the Keurig and regular coffee maker were very low quality and difficult to use. Kitchen did have some coffee and other condiments. House is beautiful as in pictures. Beautiful flowers and yard. Easy parking; nice neighbors. Would definitely stay here again. Michele was great at communicating and flexible with our needs. It was a wonderful first stay in Martha's Vineyard for us.

Post-Labor Day Long Weekend!

Our group rented this house for a three day weekend in September, and we were so pleased with our stay! The house was even more roomy and accommodating than it looked in the pictures, with plenty of privacy as well as spacious communal areas for socializing. The back porch and yard with outdoor shower were a few highlights. We found everything we needed in the kitchen and pantry, and the house was well-stocked with cleaning supplies and cooking apparatus. We also loved the proximity to Edgartown - the house is walking distance to Fuller Street Beach, Lighthouse Beach, and all the coffee shops and restaurants town has to offer while still being removed from the chaos of Main Street. We found the lack of air conditioning to be a non-issue, we just opened the windows and allowed the island breezes to cool the house down. The owner was very responsive and helpful, and the whole weekend came together seamlessly. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a great place to stay in town.

The Perfect Find for Our Three-Generation Family Vacation!

Charming, roomy, open and airy (we had a HOT week), this home had character and plenty of space to separate for conversations or reading to kids (loved the screened front porch and the back deck) or to get 8 adults around a table for dinner together. Late sleepers had plenty of privacy in the upstairs rooms. We LOVED the outdoor shower, the art work on walls, the pantry room for organizing food we brought, the second refrigerator option, the TV removed from central action where many enjoyed tracking Olympic events, and the kitchen layout where kids could eat at the breakfast bar while others cooked. The location is amazing: even the 5 and a 1/2 year olds could walk into Edgartown for ice-cream or other excursions; State Beach and South Beach were each only c. 10 minutes drive away, while Morning Glory Farm or the Stop and shop were even closer. Michele was great to work with, we would certainly return, and we highly recommend this home to future vacationers!!

Awesome Vacation!

This house is awesome! It is immaculately clean and so comfortable for an extended family. It is fully equipped with anything you may need for a vacation with plenty of room to “do your own thing”. We had coffee on the screened in porch every morning and enjoyed cocktails on the back deck in the evening. It is a short walk to all the shops and restaurants in Edgartown, but the best part was the beach where you can park along the road for free and walk 20 feet to the soft sand. We drove down early while the late sleepers rode bikes down in the afternoon (Bikes also provided). Michele was so helpful and gave us great advice when we were unable to get our car over on the ferry (we were wait listed and got exactly what we wanted!) A great vacation was had by all!

Perfect Family Get Away

This is perfect for a family get away. We traveled as two families with children and a grandmother. The parents and children had their rooms upstairs and the grandma had her own quiet space downstairs. We enjoyed enough space for all of us, the garden, the BBQ, the outdoor shower. The beaches are wonderful and reachable not only by car but also by a well organized bus service. Biking was a big hit, too. The owner is reliable and well reachable. We were lucky she shared her beautiful home with us. We definitely would go back to her house for another vacation.

Better the second time around

This is our second summer stay in this great house, this time for two weeks instead of one because we enjoyed our first stay so much (see my review from last year below). The weather was great for our two weeks but several days were hot and humid so we very much appreciated the island’s cross breezes which the house had unique access to because it sits up on a hill, higher than most of the neighbors’ houses, and the ceiling fans which made you want to pull up your comforter at night. The landlord keeps improving the property – this summer a bike shed was new, new kitchen appliances included a new microwave (in addition to the large one in the pantry) and a new Krupp toaster. A new smart flat-screen TV with 1080p in the living room made watching movies on Netflix and Amazon easy in the comfort of the wide sofas. The size of the space in the house continues to amaze us – it very comfortably accommodates 10 people. The bedrooms are attractive and comfortable and the first floor is large enough so that everyone can do their own thing, whether it’s reading a book on the front porch, reading a paper in the family room, responding to emails in the breakfast nook, cooking in the kitchen, having a meal in the dining room, watching a movie in the living room or having a cocktail on the back porch. The location of the house is great too, which many of our guests took advantage of by using the bikes that come with the house to bike the few minutes it took to the center of town to have coffee in the morning or go to lunch or dinner at the many casual restaurants in town.

Welcoming and Happy Farmhouse on a Hill

I love this house! Inside is bright and breezy and outside smells like the ocean. Great well equipped kitchen...again with that wonderful ocean breeze coming through it. House is convenient to everything and the Vineyard is a brilliant place to explore. I highly recommend it for everyone!

Picture Perfect Vineyard Farmhouse

Perfect vineyard farmhouse. Very spacious 1st floor with open layout. Great kitchen ....perfect for having open conversation and hanging out around ample counter space. Kitchen equipment galore. Outside space on deck equally spacious and perfect for that quintessential summer BBQ. Great BBQ equipment. Saved money due to the 5 bikes available to renters. Bike rentals are very expensive on the island. MOST importantly, extremely close to town. 3 minute bike ride. Coming from NYC with no car and little desire to drive, this was essential. Beautiful home with great flow and design. Impeccably clean. Amazing island experience.

A spacious, light, and attractively decorated house

This is a spacious, light, and attractively decorated house that can very comfortably accommodate ten people. By spacious, I mean that the first floor has a huge open kitchen, a large front living room, a full-size dining room, and a very comfortable and somewhat more private second living room. Windows all around the house let in lots of light. The master bedroom is very large and the other bedrooms are comfortably large. Three bathrooms on the second floor and one on the first mean that even with ten people in the house there is no wait. The house was clean and smelled fresh when we entered it. Our first reaction was surprise at how roomy it was and how the photos on the website really gave a true picture of what the house is like (no unpleasant surprises at all). One complaint we had renting a different place the year before was that it was cramped so that people felt they were on top of each other – it was just the opposite feel here. The house is indeed very close to town, just a ten minute walk or a three minute bicycle ride to the town wharf, yet it feels secluded and rural being close to the end of a long dirt road that gives the house a country feel. A pleasant surprise was that there were four house bikes which was not only handy but cut down on the cost of renting bikes. For those who like cooking, the large open kitchen was a dream which together with the large, modern gas grill made preparing a meal for ten not only easy, but most enjoyable. The landlord was very friendly and helpful. Everyone in our group enjoyed their stay very much and had nothing but good things to say about the house.

Great family vacation

Great house, large rooms, plenty of shower facilities, open concept with plenty of indoor and outdoor entertaining room. Very clean. It was closer to Edgartown than it appeared on the map, a 10 minute walk and a 5 minute bike ride. It was convenient to every direct route to all of the towns on the island. Owner was great to work with, very communicative. One of our best family vacations.

Beautiful house that made stay on the Vineyard perfect!

A group of ten of us stayed at this fabulous home while we were on the Vineyard for a wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better place! It was perfect for a group composed of all couples and having multiple bathrooms greatly helped us girls when it was time to get ready! The house was clean and the owner of the property is just the nicest. She was able to answer any and all questions and was easy to get in touch with during our stay. This house really has it all and you could not stay at a better place!

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
I grew up on Long Island Sound and spent summers on Fire Island and the Hamptons. To me, the Vineyard is even more special than those places. Development has been kept to a minimum and so there is not the sense of ostentatiousness that you might see elsewhere. While there are magnificent homes on the Vineyard, the objective is to be low key, rather than show off. Everywhere, you see people smiling....kids, young people, parents, seniors, all having a good time..walking, shopping, swimming, resting, biking. The place has a timeless quality of life one rarely sees in today's bustling resorts. Around each corner, there are meadows and fields, farms and forests, manicured and cottage gardens and beaches and vistas everywhere. As I say to all our visitors...'The Vineyard is not necessarily easy to get to, but once you are there, it's worth it.

Why they chose this property

Once I fell in love with the place, I searched for a long time for a house in Edgartown, the most desireable and prestigious location, that had a genuine character and was large enough to accommodate all of our different interests. Our house is very spacious and one can find privacy or companionship depending on your mood. The house has a fine sense about it and makes all who visit welcome, comfortable and happy to be there.

What makes this property unique

Being close to the main center of Edgartown is hugely beneficial. There are no parking or driving issues. The bike is the most preferred form of transportation. Everyone rides on the off road safe bikepaths. It's fun and makes everybody feel like a kid.
Edgartown is also the most sophisticated of the three towns with fine dining, waterfront restaurants and marinas. Chappaquidick is a short barge ferry ride across the channel. Cappaquidick is a world unto itself. The Trustees beach is one of the most pristinely beautiful beaches you will see anywhere in the world. Looking left or right you will see not one man made structure. Oak Bluffs is close, funky and fun to visit. It offers nightlife and endless activities and concerts in the waterfront park or in the Victorian 'Campgrounds'. In the 'Tabernacle' thousands gather at Illumination Night to sing old fashioned American songs at tour the gingerbread houses lit up especially for that night.
