Lakeside Housekeeping Cottage in Leeds, Maine on Androscoggin Lake
Canada Goose Cottage is one of nine cottages situated on 25 majestic acres with a beach and boat dock. It is located at Angell Cove on Androscoggin Lake in Leeds, Maine. It is a seasonal cottage open from mid-May to mid-October.
The cottage sleeps 6: a private queen bedroom, a loft with twin beds, and a pull-out queen sleeper couch in the greatroom. A full bath with tub/shower and a half bath are on the first floor. A complete kitchen includes a microwave, refrigerator, gas range/oven, and a coffee/tea station. The greatroom has comfortable seating, a propane heater, and a dining table that seats six. The furnished front screen porch overlooking the beach provides great views of the sunsets over Monument Hill and the island where bald eagles nest. In 2021 a 10x12 attached deck was added overlooking the lake.
Built in 1991, the cottage was completely renovated in the spring of 2017. The bedroom and loft were whitewashed and the kitchen cupboards received paint and new countertops. Handpicked furnishings, fittings, and fixtures keep a traditional lakeside Maine cottage feel. The spirit of a family owned camp is evident in the knotty pine, buffalo plaid, soft lighting, and touches of cranberry red. The loft is great for napping, you can hear the loons and owls from the bedroom at night, and the screen porch is a cozy place to curl up, gaze out over the lake, and lose yourself in a good book. The boating, the bass fishing, the woods, the hiking, and the swimming, combined with the loons, bald eagles, and osprey create the perfect summer vacation. If you stay in the summer, you will want to come back in the fall to enjoy campfires on the beach and see the spectacular foliage. We welcome you to share and enjoy our beloved piece of paradise. Hopefully, it will become a yearly tradition for you too!

From initial booking to final checkout our stay at Angell Cove was wonderful. Deb went above and beyond to ensure our stay would be everything we wanted. The cabin was equipped with all necessities plus some! You couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque place to wake up and overlook Androscoggin Lake! Would definitely stay here again next time we make our way up to Maine!
My wife and I Really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The location right on the lake was perfect but it was also very calm and quiet. The cabin had everything you would need. We were only there for 4 days and plan to return soon for a longer stay. Thank you to Deb and Rich.
This is a great vacation spot. It was very peaceful with beautiful views of the lake. The property is within a few steps to the lake where you are able to swim and kayak. The owners have made so convenient for vacationers that you just need to pack your clothes and provide your own food. They also provided us with detailed recommendations for things to do in the area.

Beautiful look at the lake. Wonderful kayak trip at the lake. Night winds and rain on the roof. Pine cones coming down and hitting the cottage. We were there during Hurricane Lee and it was wonderful seeing nature and pot it could offer. Close to so many things to visit. Thank you for your little piece of heaven in Maine!

A perfect family vacation hideaway!
The cottage is a great place to bond with family and Mother Nature. The lake is awesome and peaceful and every direction we look at any time is serene. Deb and Rich are great hosts with great immediate responsive communication. Love that they tend to their property personally and when we walked in it was immaculately clean and polished even leaving us fresh apples. We were so sad to leave and already miss it. So many awesome memories, sights and sounds of loons, geese, and bald eagles. Fishing and boating and kayaking activities all the time were so enjoyable. We also explored some of the beauty surrounding the area and spend a half day out at the coastal harbor town of Rockport. Tubbys ice cream was another treat for the kids. We'd love to get back there next summer! Thanks!

Thank you for being such wonderful guests. We love sharing our cottage and hope you return again to make more memories!
Deb and Rich make sure this little slice of nature is like walking back into your front door. Everything is perfect the area is perfect the beach if 100% the best for kiddos ( it’s about waste hight for maybe 200 yards. ( just bring water shoes). They have kayaks to use, and the picnic table over looks the water.
The house is decorated wonderfully, it feels very luxurious. The coffee station is probably my favorite, brew a cup and sit on the deck to the birds chirping and water splashing.
We didn’t experience and rude or loud neighbor. Everyone just wants to relax and enjoy. I can’t say enough good words! I would rate 20/10! That’s how awesome this cabin on the lake is!
Enjoy it! We sure did and can’t wait to go back next year!

I rented a cottage knowing a few close friends and family would be coming to spend a few nights with me during my two week stay. Every single person loved this cottage, the decor and location. It was amazing and I would highly recommend it for summertime fun in the sun in Maine.

Peaceful Oasis on the Lake
This sweet little cabin will not disappoint!! The owners have thought of every detail to make your stay a special one. The photos truly only tell half the story. It's an adorable little cabin with enough modern touches so you aren't totally roughing it...(such as a really nice bathroom and kitchen). Between fishing, kayaking, bird watching, picnicking and hanging out playing board games - we enjoyed our time here. The location was perfect and provided easy day trips to Portland, Camden, and Bar Harbor areas. The owners are a lovely couple who responded quickly to our request and provided great information on the area. Thank you again Deb and Rich for letting us use your peaceful oasis and little slice of happiness. We miss Maine already and can't wait to return!

About the host
Hosted by Rich & Deb McConnell
Canada Goose Cottage is one of the original cottages built at Angell Cove in Leeds, Maine in 1991. The boating, the bass fishing, the woods, the hiking, and the swimming, combined with the loons, bald eagles, and osprey created the perfect vacation getaway. We chose to stay at Angell Cove for our vacation that inaugural year and have not missed a year since. We enjoyed the swimming and fishing in the summer and came back in the fall on Columbus Day Weekend to see the spectacular foliage. Over the years we made lasting friendships with many summer guests who, like us, returned every year to this lakeside treasure in Maine. Great memories were made as our children and grandchildren grew up together water skiing, swimming, and prowling the hillsides from dawn to dusk.
Why they chose this property
Slowly, the cottages grew in number until nine quaint, lakeside cottages stood on the shore of Androscoggin Lake. Not having a favorite, we took turns staying in all nine cottages on our trips as each one had their own personality and decorating style. As time passed, Angell Cove evolved and the once privately owned cottages gained new identities as condominiums. Family and friends became owners as one-by-one the cottages were sold. This year, the opportunity arose and we purchased Cottage 2 - Canada Goose Cottage. The front porch overlooking the beach, the view of the sunsets over Monument Hill, and the location across from the black sand island where bald eagles nest were just a few factors that convinced us that this was the cottage destined to be ours.
What makes this property unique
As new owners, we made many changes. We renovated the kitchen and added a new full sized bathroom. The bedroom and loft were whitewashed and the kitchen cupboards received a coat of paint and new countertops. Handpicked furnishings, fittings, and fixtures allowed us to put our own stamp on the cottage. However, while doing this, we were always mindful that this was a traditional lakeside Maine cottage and we kept the integrity of that theme at the heart of our remodel. The spirit of a family owned camp is evident in the knotty pine, buffalo plaid, soft lighting, and touches of cranberry red. The loft is still great for napping, you can still hear the loons and owls from the bedroom at night, and the screen porch is still a cozy place to curl up, gaze out over the lake, and lose yourself in a good book. In 2021 we added a 10x12 deck overlooking the lake. We welcome you to share and enjoy our beloved piece of paradise. Hopefully, it will become a yearly tradition for you too!
