This was such a cute cabin and exactly what we were looking for. The host was wonderful and provided us with so many recommendations and kept in constant communication. I would highly recommend this cabin to any and everyone.
My friends and dog absolutely adored this place! The hot tub is huge and we had so much space! We cooked every meal in the cabin and the kitchen was so well stocked! We were super close to lots of great hikes and especially loved Trombatore trail. This cabin was the perfect spot for a relaxed New Year’s Eve. Will be coming back

Thank you Lindsey for the 5 star review!! I’m so happy you enjoyed the new hot tub spa and the Hootowl cabin! Come back soon :))
The most unique mountain property we've ever stayed at with the most peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed exploring the area around us and visiting local wineries and downtown Hendersonville. The weather was perfect and loved the hot tub! Beds were comfy and we had all the amenities we needed. Five stars, for sure!
We had a wonderful time at the Hoot Owl Cabin and cannot wait to return!
Cozy retreat , just the right size for 2. Close to parks for hiking. Owner was great and available for questions. We enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace.

So happy you had a good stay! Thanks so much for the five stars! Please come back and stay again :))
We had a great time at the Hoot Owl. We made it into Lake Lure twice and Asheville once. Everything was close enough to enjoy an afternoon out and about, but you still had the peace and quiet of the mountains when you went back to the house.

Road to cabin was treaterous if you’re not used to mountain roads. (Which we weren’t). Beautiful views and very peaceful.

We enjoyed hosting your stay! Thank you for your review. Mountain roads can be a challenge sometimes if you are not used to the curves. If you live where there are no mountains, locals may call you, “flatlanders”. Fortunately, all the roads leading to the neighborhood are DOT maintained state roads, and are all paved double lanes. I’m sorry you had that experience. I do hope you followed our directions, as we chose the best route to the cabin and do recommend a 4WD for the driveway, even though you may park below.
This property has all sorts of creative designer touches throughout. It really does have a treehouse feel. The area was great fun for our dog. The kitchen was well outfitted for cooking.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the HootOwl. Michelle especially appreciates your noticing the extra design details she added to the cabin! We hope you come stay at the HootOwl again!
I booked the cabin a few days for my birthday and had a great time. Michelle is a wonderful host. It was such a treat to see the box of chocolates when I walked in and she unknowingly had my favorite Moscato chilling in the fridge. The cabin is so cute and cozy. If you get the chance, book this cabin.

Fantastic, I’m happy your surprise was a hit Stephanie! I hope you make the HootOwl an annual escape. Thank you for your kind review.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hoot Owl cabin! Our host was great in communicating with us before the stay. There was ample space for my husband, dog and myself. The location is quiet, secluded, but not far from the town of Hendersonville (20 minutes or less). The cabin is literally built on the side of a mountain! It was charming. We loved the owl-themed decor as well.
Overall, this place was as described. The photos seem to have been taken some time ago and it was a bit more “rustic” than the photos showed. We enjoyed the hot tub immensely and the privacy. The beds were cozy and it was centrally located to many sightseeing locations. Something to be aware of there is not a dishwasher and the sink, while GORGEOUS, was not very practical for washing dishes. We enjoyed the time away.
The stay with my partner and two dogs was so wonderful I don't want to rate it high bc then it may get too booked for me to squeeze in another visit!

Adorable cabin with all amenities, covered in owls!!
The only negative I would say would be the parking situation. It's difficult to get in and out of the property. Otherwise, the furniture was very comfortable. There were plenty of tvs during the little down time we had, and the jacuzzi was a tremendous hit with the children.

Thanks for your review! Im happy you enjoyed the new hot tub and furniture. I’m sorry the parking gave you trouble. I’m not sure why, because there’s plenty of parking down below if you don’t have AWD or 4WD. We are regrading the driveway next week due to all the rain we’ve had coming down the mountain.
The Hootowl is a such a gem and unique place to stay. My family had so much fun from hanging out in the hot tub, cooking on the grill, hiking in the woods and just relaxing playing chess.
I must say the bed was extremely comfortable....we slept so good. Waking up and looking out the window felt like you were in a treehouse.
Our boys (15 & 10) can't wait to come back and neither can me and my hubby.
Big thanks to Michelle for great communication and providing such an awesome home for our family to enjoy.

Hoot Owl is OK
We rented it to have a place to stay while we looked for a place to buy. We had problems with the phone and internet. There was a lot of noise on the phone line and the internet was on and off continuously. It is not a place we would rent again.

Sorry for the problem. We have rectified the problem with ATT. We know our guest need Internet and want there stay to be a happy stay .
I really liked this cabin, it would be perfect for a couples getaway! However it may be too rustic for young kids, we had our 3 year old and 8 month old with us and it was just a lot of keeping them contained, entertained, and out of trouble. And a lot of going up and down the stairs (both inside the cabin and out the front door) if you’re bringing the normal baby gear like a pack n play, etc.
It is also a decent drive to get to nearby towns, definitely not a deal breaker, and it is in a pretty valley surrounded by other cabins, trailers, and cottages. Definitely need AWD to get up the driveway, otherwise there’s a parking spot at the bottom of the driveway. The hot tub was really nice out the back deck, we had great views of the stars out there!
Good communication from the host, check in and out was easy.
This is a unique cabin. Smaller floor plan but for 2 people and some dogs it was perfect. One of our dogs is old so we had to carry her up/down steps to let her out which was a bummer. It meant a lot that the details were not overlooked- new kitchen sponge, good paper towels, quality TP, and clean bath mats that did terrify me. The master bedroom was a nice place to have some quite (I loved the oversized chair). The stairs are a bit narrow. Michelle was easy to communicate with during our stay and is very nice. Good distance to AVL (about 1 hour) and hiking trails (~30 min). We would went here again.
We were in the area for a small party at the Burntshirt Vineyards, so my husband and I were there with fun and relaxation in mind. I thought a cabin would suit the nature of our trip rather than a hotel. And since there were just the two of us, we wanted something small and affordable.
When you say "cabin" one thinks of wood floors, rustic furnishings and woods. This cabin is that but also very kin to a treehouse built into the side of a mountain. Once we climbed into it, it felt very private and cozy. The furnishings are whimsical with lots of crazy art, owls and furniture. Depends on your personality as how you take the decor - my husband (who's an accountant just rolled his eyes). I, who love the unexpected, appreciated all of the surprises in every room.
We are in our 60s so saying there are steps was a little bit of an understatement. You'd better be pretty fit or pack really light luggage. We quickly figured out how to minimize our trips to the car for our stuff. Our dogs who are small had to be carried up and down the steps, so I got my workout with them also. The main bed is comfy but I'm short and had to get creative jumping up onto the tall mattress. (My husband did find humor in that.)
The owner was very responsive and accommodating. My husband assumed the Golf channel can be found everywhere and quickly because "worked up" about it - she kindly added the channel to the TVs so he could track the PGA while there. Thanks again, Michelle, for that.

Hi Cindy! Thank you for you 5 STAR review!! Thank you for you super review :)) help to keep the husband happy with turning on golf channel lol. Please come stay again!
The cabin is an eclectic & cozy stay for a week. Most of our time was spent away from the cabin, but it's in a good location & the best part was sitting in the hot tub under the stars. The view from the big window out front was beautiful while drinking a hot cup of coffee & the fireplace warmed up the whole place in minutes.
There were a few maintenance issues: There are a couple of bricks loose before you get to the wooden stairs. The faucets in the kitchen & the upstairs bathroom were not fastened to the counters. The kitchen sink is a good concept, but oddly shaped & doesn't drain properly, so there is standing water. Get in the before turning on the upstairs shower, or it sprays out. The shower head was also broken & sprays up the wall. While in the hot tub, it shut off 4 times, 2 of them while not running jets or bubbles. The breaker was not overheating or tripped, so not sure what the cause of the outage. We made sure that it was still running for the next few days, but we did not use the tub again after that. The 2x4s under the upstairs mattress is not fastened, some shifted and fell out from underneath while we were on it.
We notified Michelle about the faucets and the hot tub as an fyi. We appreciate the promptness of her trying to fix the issues, but we had plans to not be home during the day. These items were expressed that they were not an emergency and would prefer for the handymen to not interrupt our stay. The push made us feel inconvenienced & uncomfortable.
