About this property
The Bumbletown Hill House
Quaint 1880s cottage located on top of Bumbletown Hill, Keweenaw County with 4+ acres, where there are great views of the Huron Mountains and Lake Superior or a short walk will take you to a stunning panoramic view of the Keweenaw Peninsula, sunsets and sunrises. Nearby: hiking, fishing, swimming, biking, birding and nature trails, rock/agate picking, photography, wild flowers, and berry picking, light house tours, nature preserves, parks, boating and much more.
The space
The house is an old mining house, built in 1887, located in a small quiet historic community of Bumbletown. Since we live in the house in the winter months, some personal items will be throughout the house. You will have a well-stocked kitchen along with many culinary amenities. Two artists are in the family so there will be art and books throughout the house.
Brockway Mountain (site for hawk migration study), Isle Royale National Park, Seamans Mineral Museum, Keweenaw National Historic Park - Copper has shaped the people and places on the Keweenaw Peninsula for thousands of years. In the 1840s, the first mineral mining rush in the US took place here. Although the mines have since closed, the history lives on. We also offer guided occasional nature tours for birding, plants, mushrooms, and berries.
Guest access
You will have the entire house to yourself. I live 35 miles away and available if you need me. Only registered guests are permitted in the house.
Other things to note
A full service grocery store is located about 5 miles away. There is good cell phone service at the home. We are located conveniently to all summer and fall activities (parades, fireworks, celebrations, museums, nature, beaches, etc. ) in the various towns.
