This beautiful 350m2 4 bedroom villa/farmhouse set in its own 5,000m2 botanical garden with private heated(optional) swimming pool in the heart of the Orotava valley (Tenerife north), is one of the most spectacular finca properties on the island. The views across its lawns and Palm grove to Mount Teide and the sea are superb. The villa is completely secluded. Enjoy the luxury of not having neighbours.There is fibre optic wifi internet connection and Satellite TV. The villa has everything necessary for a wonderful holiday, including a very popular fully equipped outside kitchen with its own terrace where you can bbq overlooking the pool. The villa is located in a unique rural setting surrounded by plantations and yet only 5 mins away from Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava. Ideally situated as well for sightseeing. There are many historically interesting villages to visit nearby such as Garachico, Icod and La Laguna.

Wonderful property. Huge, beautifully decorated (with antiques and oil paintings). Bedrooms separated from living areas. Manicured tropical garden with aviary. Swimming pool well sheltered from wind and delightful outdoor kitchen.

A beautiful property perfect for our family getaway. Very spacious and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing holiday. Great hideaway

A beautiful house with beautiful garden. The perfect place to hideaway from the world and yet close to the supermarket for provisions. A good base to travel around the North of the island. Desmond is a great host !

Lovely Relaxing Stay

We had a lovely break at the villa. It is very spacious and extremely clean. And it has lots of character. The owner is very helpful and took care of any queries that we had promptly. The BBQ area is lovely and well equipped. The pool is warm and well maintained. The gardens are secluded and beautifully maintained - with lots of room for little ones to run around. The place is thoroughly recommended

Peaceful hideaway

The road leading the last 300 meters to the property is rough and a bit off putting but completely worth the while once you enter the property. A large charming home and grounds set away from the sounds of traffic. Beautifully landscaped property with all the comforts of home. Great communication with Desmond.

A small paradise

We stayed for five days and we wish it could have been longer. Such a nice house, in a quiet environment (which we needed, working on a book). Everything we needed was there, including nice weather :-). The garden is beautiful, we enjoyed the swimming pool and the singing of the birds made us very happy. And finally, Desmond is a great host. In summary: excellent! Happy to come back.

Stunning home and gardens

The villa and gardens are absolutely stunning and we had a fabulous stay here. However, some things to note if you're thinking of booking - (1) a car is essential; (2) the villa has no fans or air conditioning and it does get hot at night; (3) the gardeners (who are discreet) attended on Mon, Weds and Fri morning; and (4) we were disturbed early morning and late at night by, variously, construction noise, traffic, dogs barking, people shouting nearby, etc. Having said all that, words cannot explain how utterly lovely the gardens are, during the day it was so calm and so peaceful. It's probably the most beautiful place we've ever stayed.

Thank you for the 5 star review! With reference to your comments: 1. A car is essential as I mentioned when you were enquiring about the property. We are down an agricultural track away from the main road,which guarantees peace and quiet. 2. When you enquired about the property I mentioned that we didn't need air conditioning in the house. However for most of the days you were here we had a mini heatwave and it was unusually hot. We could have supplied a fan if you had informed us that you needed one. 4. I would say that none of the noises you heard are frequent or usual. In fact nobody has ever complained. On the contrary, most people remark on how quiet and peaceful it is. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for staying with us. Best wishes.

Utterly peaceful and relaxing

Desmond's place is, quite simply, magnificent and truly relaxing. Everything you could possibly want is there or at least it was for us (except a tray to carry food outside - I expect there was one which we just couldn't find). There's plenty of space to find your own place to read alone if you want to or to move around so as to avoid (or even to find) the sun. We had a fabulous 6 days. Thank you Desmond.

Wonderful Place!

Very large property, well equipped and extremely private (if not a little difficult to find :)) The highlight for us was the BBQ area and pool, set against a stunning view of the volcano...wow. The place was pretty much as others have described and true to the description and photos on line. We had a fantastic week, highly recommended. Location wise its pretty remote and we struggled for local restaurants etc. PS - La Orotava is overpriced so I would look elsewhere for a night out. So I would say that for a relaxing break with a few trips out (hire car essential) this is a great spot. For those looking for more lively evenings, maybe look South. Santa Cruz is a good spot for local seafood and Tapas etc...Puertro de La Cruz is OK, standard seaside town, the beaches looked nice but were sadly closed when we visited. Theres a decent local eatery listed in the book at the house called the Monastry. Yes, all good, and thanks to Desmond for excellent comms. I will return here for sure!

Our second trip to Desmond's villa.

This was our second trip to Desmond's wonderful villa in the North of Tenerife. Our first was in January and then we were very lucky with the weather and were able to use the fantastic pool every day. In June, our second trip was equally brilliant. Our four year old son was just as smitten this time (as were we) with the perfect swimming pool and lovely, safe, enclosed gardens. One of many benefits of the villa is that you can shut yourself away behind the gates and enjoy the oasis of calm beyond. The villa itself, as many other guests describe, is brilliantly appointed with lovely artwork and comfortable furnishings as well as a super kitchen (and one above the pool with the great BBQ / grill) We couldn't have been happier with our two separate weeks at Desmond's place. Our first visit, we were quickly guided around the property and on the second, handed the keys and left to our holiday, just perfect. Thanks again Desmond for your hospitality!

Beautiful house !

We loved the living room and the splendid garden. This rental is really great! However we can mention a few points that may be improved. It is worth noting that this was a winter stay and that this certainly influences our opinion.One room has no heater. Two mobile heaters are available, so we used one for the room. But this left the kitchen and dinner room with only one heater, which was not powerful enough. The fixed heaters in the sleeping rooms are not very powerful, and they have no temperature regulation. The best room is the living room, which gets sun all day.The swimming pool is heated but hardly went above 24 degrees. We were told that it would be 26 degrees, and I am sure that this was the intention, as the heater was working all day. I cannot complain.The Environment is globally calm, but yes at some occasions we had traffic noise and a dog barking.A few small things : we could use some more water glasses. Light-stopping curtains would be great in the rooms. We would have preferred a second double bed.We realize that most of our comments are linked to winter, but on the other hand it is not easy to accept that your holiday house is colder than your home in the north Definitely a great place to stay !

Thank you for the 5 star review. Most appreciated! I have noted your comments and will make amendments. As far as the heating is concerned I don't want to make excuses but just want to explain the local mentality. On an island where not one house is fitted with central heating because of the year round warm weather it is very much a secondary issue. You were actually the first guests this Winter who used the heating. I live above and still haven’t turned on a heater. We rent out another property above as well that nobody has felt a need to have heaters. There are though a few days some years when heating might be necessary during a cold spell. This is definitely what happened when you were here. There was snow on the volcano and the previous week the road crossing the national park was closed for a few days because of icy conditions. Temperatures dropped considerably at night making the pool pump work hard to maintain the water warm. The last two Winters have been very warm needing if anything air-conditioning. Life is generally more outdoors that indoors including the Winter months. Apologies though and I shall put in some extra heaters. Best wishes.

Wir waren zum 2. Mal in diesem schönen Ferienhaus für 3 Wochen. Das Haus und das Grundstück sind zauberhaft, wir haben jeden Tag genossen.
