About this property
1 of a Kind! Largest Luxurious TRANSPARENT DOME in USA
Sleep Beneath the Stars in America’s Largest Transparent Dome – 20 Minutes north of Asheville!
This one-of-a-kind stay invites you to reconnect—with your partner, your family, or the beauty of nature.
Relax in luxury under the stars. Soak in the private hot tub within the trees. Cook a meal in your fully stocked kitchen and gather around the fire pit under the open sky.
Every detail is designed for magic, comfort, and connection. Experience the wild—wrapped in luxury.
The dome functions as a large 700-square-foot studio with the bed, desk, kitchen and living room all in the same space. Only the bathroom is separated by a door/wall.
The Glassy Stays Mirror House and Glassy Stays Dome are on 20 acres of mostly forested land in Mars Hill. There is a long gravel and dirt road to get up to both properties. Don't forget to try renting both and see which unique stay you prefer!
Luxury abounds here at Glassy Dome; we have a hot tub and cold plunge and for relaxation and healing (cold plunge is an up-charge, $50/stay). Should you want to use the cold plunge during your stay just message us after booking and we will send over a request for the payment through VRBO.
The surrounding deck is exclusively for dome guests, and also includes a shared trail to the meadow. The road is a shared roadway for the Glassy Stays Dome and the Glassy Stays Mirror House, which is 300ft away from the dome. The transparent sections of the dome all face away from the private gravel road.
Please take note of the following before booking:
-While utterly amazing, the dome is essentially a glamping experience, or luxury camping, and may not be for everyone.
- There is no insulation, and the connections between each of the panels have small gaps so you may see some bugs and dust during your stay. Those small gaps also have moss growing because of the large amounts of rain in this temperate rain forest. The dome is cleaned regularly, but is not always without rain spots.
-If the sun is striking the dome directly, the dome can heat up quickly. We have significant HVAC and an automated ceiling curtain to help combat this, but during the hottest days of summer, we see temperatures in the dome in the 80s-low 90s for a few hours. This is temporary. As soon as the sun goes down behind the trees, it cools off quickly.
-Be prepared to wear sunscreen in the heat of the day if you are prone to burning, or plan to be out on a hike or an excursion during that time.
-The dome is entirely transparent (except for the bathroom, of course). The transparent portions face away from the private road and into the forest on the elevated side of the deck (16 ft in the air) so no one can look in unless they are walking out on the deck.
