House was very clean and the host was very kind and helpful when it came to questions. Would recommend for anyone to stay at this beautiful beach house.
The cottage was nice but we noticed it wasn’t as clean as we had hoped, mainly kitchen counters and bar top. Plenty of comfortable places to sit both inside and out. Loved the swing on the deck. Overall we had a great stay.
This is the perfect location for all ages! Beautiful sandy beach for swimming, volleyball net, swing set, fire pit and large deck with table and chairs. We had plenty of room inside and out. Will definitely keep this place in mind for the future.
This cottage is located on a private road, with the houses spread far apart. It was so peaceful. The beach was beautiful, more available beach area than I think we've ever had at a cottage. Walking to the lighthouse was fun. The home is large and we had plenty of space for everyone.
Best kept secret of stellar sunrise side location on wide sandy beach
This spacious family friendly cottage is located so close to the water’s edge that you can fall asleep to the gentle lapping of the waves from any of the 3 front bedrooms!! This, along with watching the sunrise from our bed, will be two special memories from our stay. My 7&9 year old grandchildren loved walking out to the sandbars on the sandy lake bottom. The kitchen was fully equipped with anything you might need to cook for a group. If you plan on cooking much I suggest you pack or purchase your groceries in either Oscoda or Alpena as there is no grocery store in Harrisville. The hosts were very responsive to any request or question we had. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit
This place is awesome! I rented this beautiful home on Lake Huron as a vacation for my wife and myself, my three children and their spouses and my seven grandchildren (ages 3-8.). Every family had their own bedroom and the grandkids took turns having sleepovers in each other’s rooms (made possible by all of the beds!) The beach is huge, clean and very good for finding Petoskey stones ( better than Petoskey.) Eating space was plentiful, especially the seven stools at the counter (seven stools : seven grandkids ... perfect! Spent our days at the beach, and there was plenty of space inside to just hang out. We loved this place and we’re lucky enough to be able to book our reservations for Summer 2020!

Second Year Just as Great as the First Despite the Rain
We rented this beach house in 2014 and decided to return in 2015 before we even moved out - now we're planning on 2016! This home is perfect for our extended family vacation. We had 4 families (total of 13 adults, age range 18 - 60+) and each took one bedroom as their "home base". There was plenty of room to spread out, even during rainy days. The home is well maintained, clean and comfortable. The fire pit is stocked with wood, the gas grill is ready to use, and the beach is clean. During our weekdays, it was pretty quiet in this area, with an increase in neighbors over the weekend. Because the beach is expansive and houses aren't jammed close together, there is plenty of privacy. Since we did have a couple of people who needed to check in to the "real world" electronically for work obligations, we activated our cell phone wifi hotspot for computer use, and it worked fine.
We did have rain and chilly weather for our August vacation, but found plenty of activities available at the house as well as taking some field trips to Alpena and Oscoda.
These owners are great to work with and we have had a really positive experience renting from them.

Beautiful home, beach, and fantastic owners
We totally agree with all of the previous 5 start reviews. This house was perfect for our visit, especially for the price. Everything plus was provided for a great stay. Everything worked! You can't beat the beach and fire pit. We had 6 adults and 4 children and had room to spare. The owners met us upon arrival and showed us around, answering all questions. Especially nice was the fact that there was not a laundry list of rules to follow and we felt that we were trusted by the owners. That's a very comfortable way to stay! We vary from west MI to east MI for our summer vacation and, when staying in E. MI we will definitely stay here again and again.

Amazing and Wonderful
We rented the property for a Women's get away in June, the weather was cool, so we didn't do much swimming, but did enjoy walking the beach, kayaking, bon-fires on the beach, walking the shore to the lighthouse, exploring the woods behind the property, having coffee on the deck in the morning listening to the waves... We had plenty of room for our large group. VERY happy with our experience!! Thank you Joan!!

Beautiful House and Beach
This house was perfect for our needs. There is A LOT of sleeping areas in the house. The bedrooms are huge with ample room for the extra beds. It really didn't feel cramped at all. We had 6 adults and 4 kids with plenty of space. Although the weather did not cooperate we were still able to have a great time on the beach with the fire pit, playing beach volleyball, and playing in the well manacured sand.
The house is well equipped with towels, linens, and especially kitchen items. There were a ton of plates/silverware/etc. that made for easy packing. We didn't even leave the house while we were there. The deck outside is nice for meals and there is a large well kept playset right outside the back deck perfect for young ones.
No air conditioning, but there was a nice breeze coming off the lake. The beach is beautiful. Some Lake Huron homes have a lot of rocks in the water, but this one is clear. So nice to not have to wear shoes out in the water playing in the sand.
The only downfall was that there was no internet service. This day and age wireless seems like a must :) But besides that, it was a great getaway location and we will (and have) booked again for next year.

Great Family Vacation Spot
We rented this beach home for a week for our extended family group. The home was exactly as described in the listing, with a wonderful, clean beach and room for up to 16 people to sleep. The home is clean and well-maintained. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of dishes and silverware for a large group, cooking utensils and pots and pans.
The majority of our group was looking for rest and relaxation and a mini family reunion. We enjoyed the ability to walk to the lighthouse and old Bailey schoolhouse for a tour. We spent lots of time on the large deck, long walks on the beach, and the nice fire pit area with plenty of seating. When needed, the television was available, along with DVD and video players. It was nice that the owners have a cell phone booster that gave us the ability to use our cell phones. Our teen member looked up some activities in Alpena, and we had fun on two different day trips to the city. Harrisville is a quiet little town and has a few nice restaurants, a couple of nice gift shops, a nice park and harbor, a nice state park and a small IGA grocery store. One thing we hadn't anticipated was the spotty cell phone service in the area, so it was good to have great directions to the house and a paper map of the area, since GPS didn't always work and cell phones sometimes didn't have service while driving up US 23.
I would say that if you're looking for night life or places to take children for commercial attractions, you might need to drive north to Alpena or south toward East Tawas. We were perfectly satisfied with the solitude and relaxation at the beach and had a lot of fun.
Regarding space, we had one bedroom for each of our families, with some of the younger people opting to sleep on a couch or in the family room, just to spread out a little bit. The nice thing about this home was that even with 13 people at one time, we never felt crowded.
The owner of the property was very helpful in answering questions and keeping in touch prior to and during our rental week. Although I prefer not to send a check directly to a property owner, I did some research and talked to the owner prior to sending a deposit. Everything about our financial transactions went smoothly. She called during our rental week to make sure everything was okay and to answer any additional questions.
Our whole family was so pleased with this rental that we've already booked for 2015.

Absolutely Perfect!!!
My family of seven (2 adults, 5 children) just returned home from this perfect beach house! Both sets of grandparents also visited at different times and there was plenty of room for everyone. The location is perfect - nice sandy beach, dead-end drive with little traffic, and beautiful sunrises and moonrises! The house has everything you need - just bring your clothes, swimsuits, and groceries. Our kids loved the swingset play area, kayaking, walking the beach, finding sticks for the campfire, and the rollicking waves with multiple sand bars in the water. The owners made sure all of our needs were met - including having a campfire built and ready to light! The Sturgeon Point Lighthouse is a short walk away and the Harrisville area was fun to visit. We are already planning a return visit next summer!
