The cabin is well maintained and everything was in working order. A couple of items that would help would be the access to the stairs from the driveway (maybe add one or two more stepping stones from the drive to the path up to the stairs. Another thing that would have been nice was more comfortable seating in the TV area. We had a rainy day and stayed in to watch TV/movies and found it difficult to be totally comfortable.Although not the owner's issue, the roads in and out from the cabin are quite treacherous.

About the host
Hosted by Ariel
I’m originally from out of state and fell in love with West Virginia for its slower pace, mountain scenery, and sense of calm. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring the New River Gorge, and unwinding in quiet places like Ansted. Being a host lets me share that experience with others and create a comfortable, relaxed stay where guests can truly disconnect and enjoy the area.
Why they chose this property
Nestled in the mountains of Ansted, the neighborhood is quiet, scenic, and surrounded by nature. Cool mountain air, winding roads, and peaceful wooded views set the tone. What I enjoy most is the calm, no crowds, minimal noise, and the feeling of being tucked away while still being close to the New River Gorge and local town essentials.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property truly unique is its deep family history and the care that went into building it. The land has been in the same family for over 80 years, and the cabin itself was thoughtfully built by hand using rough-cut lumber from local sawmills and stone gathered directly from the property. It’s not just a rental, it’s a place that’s been loved, lived in, and passed down through generations. That sense of history, craftsmanship, and connection to the land creates an authentic Appalachian retreat you simply don’t find in most places.
