The host was very communicative, the views were amazing, the host had bathroom supplies readily available for us. The water was very soft on our skin in any handwashing sink or the shower. We didn’t get to arrive soon enough for the sunset but the remainder of the sunset was so gorgeous. Highly recommend sitting on the porch, or in the hot tub watching with a glass or wine or a cup of coffee.

Wonderful Phoenix Views, Excellent Casita...

These casitas are on a hill with outstanding views. They are just off Highway 101 and provide excellent access to all that Phoenix has to offer. They are on the edge of Scottsdale and within 20 minutes of Salt River Baseball Fields. We found some fun places to dine nearby and the hot tub was very nice. This was a lovely place to stay and very comfortable and we can't say enough about the beautiful views, with large Saguaro cactus all around the outside of the house. A Great Time...

Great experience overall but the property could use some TLC

The location and view was terrific just as advertised and the property was clean. Two negative issues were the loud rooftop heating system (not an issue if it is warm but I was there during a cold snap), and a nasty smell coming from the washer/dryer closet (maybe some unresolved dampness that should be addressed). Overall good and I would stay there again just for the view from the hot tub if nothing else.

It was ok!

Previous criticisms for critiques of this property are accurate, it is a well-worn and unkept VRBO property. Needs a lot of update but, if you’re OK with worn out it’s just fine.

When first communicating with this guest I knew from the start he more than likely could not be satisfied. He wanted a two bedroom. As stated in our property description, this is a 1970’s property. The pictures tell the story, about the look of the property. Over the 15 plus years of being on vacation sites we have maintained a Premier status. The road is steep as stated in the description, but it is on a hill/mountain! Please read the other positive reviews, to get a better idea of our properties and what people think. The other negative was he was scared of the road up. We take great pride in maintaining our excellent rating and as I have come to understand some people only look for the negative, which is a sad life to live. Here is the rating from this site and the other popular vacation site. I hate that I need to do this, but I take this seriously. Cleanliness 8.6/10 " "Cleanliness 86% Check-in 9.4/10 " "Check-in 94% Communication 8.8/10" "Communication 88% Location 8.8/10 " "Location 88% Listing accuracy 8.8/10 " "Listing accuracy 88% Out of 5 stars. other site: Cleanliness 4.7, Accuracy 4.9, Check-in 4.9, Communication 4.9, Value 4.6

Great Couple Retreat Spot

If you are looking for a private casita with a hot tub and great views, this is the spot! The cottage sits on a small mountain, so be prepared for a stiff grade going uphill! We stayed a week and enjoyed the property which did allow our two small dogs, thank you! Beware, coyotes are in the area so take your fur babies outside at night on a leash! The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. The sofas were comfy and there were many outside seating choices. Sunsets were special here!We had good correspondence with the property manager as they dropped off closet hangers within 1 hour as there were none in the bedroom. There are some things deferred maintenance issues, however. The vent fan in the single bathroom was not working; no sink plunger or catch screen (not good for someone wearing contacts); the double doors to the bedroom were not operating properly due to issues with attachment to the frame (could not close from the great room to have someone watch TV while someone slept.); the refrigerator is leaking water onto the floor periodically.Overall, you will have a nice stay at the lovely property with a rating of 4.5 out of 5.

Not worth it.

Not good. We had issues with several items including hot tub, internet, window blinds, clothes washer, shower, beds & bedding, heat, BBQ, electricity (circuit breaker). There is an intermittent smell of sewer from the patio (hot tub location). Also, we were disappointed with a few small things like a lack of new sponges, garbage bags and dishwasher soap. The owners do not provide basic instructions for anything including internet or garbage removal. There is no modem/router on the premises so the speed is ridiculously slow. We stayed for 6 days and were unable to get adequate internet and noticed hot tub bumps on the 3rd day. We requested a partial refund and were denied by the owner. Moreover, we discovered messages from previous disgruntled guests - so we assume mismanagement is an ongoing issue here.

First of all, I must say we try and do everything we can to make our guest have an enjoyable time at one of our 4 houses on the mountain. We are on several vacation sites and have a 4.7 to 5 star rating, we are a Super Host on another site where we have most of our business comes from. Here is our rating. Your Superhost stats Assessment period Jan 1, 2020 - Dec 31, 2020 Last completed assessment You maintained your Superhost status! 4.8 Overall rating! To meet this criteria, you need a 4.8 or higher average overall rating based on reviews from Jan 1, 2020 to Dec 31, 2020. We calculate this based on when a guest submits their review—not when their reservation happens. So if a guest’s reservation happens during the current assessment period but they submit their review after it ends, then it’ll count toward your Superhost status for the next period—not the current one. To continue.... We live on the same mountain and make ourselves available day and night. As it states in our description we do not have internet service, BUT if available can provide them with a portable wifi. They were aware of that as it was mention to me in a text after they checked in and then they requested one, which we took over to them, the password was wrong, went back and offered them different one and they refused. It is strange they said it was slow, because they denied it? Possibly they just assumed it would be slow, however we have people use them in every house and no complaints so far. They called and said the BBQ propane tank wasn’t working, they left for a while came back and when my husband met them, there they thought it had already been fixed as it was working. These houses are rented at a minimum, every weekend. The hot tubs are check and serviced before every check in which usually means at least twice a week or more. Their complaint was that the hot tub was not cleaned because their son had bumps. They did not contact us on the 3rd day as he states the problem occurred, he contacted us on their last day. Kent went there immediately, and the water was a little low, from use, he tested it and filled it, the levels were normal. There is a hose next to it where people can fill it if necessary. I tried to attach a picture of the hot tub and the tested levels but evidently it won't allow it here. I would say that some people have sensitive skin and the chemicals to treat hot tubs and pools possibly can cause that. My grandson has that sensitivity. We have a notebook in all our houses, giving instructions and recommendations for our guest. They must have missed it as it is there and has been. They asked for extra garbage bags, we usually provide 2 to 3 bags. Kent took them up extras and took their garbage to the garbage cans for them. It is true the heater flipped a circuit breaker and Kent flip it back, which the furnace then worked, and after they left a repair person replaced the part needed. What I do not understand from these people, we were there 3 times and then saw the husband hiking, stopped and talked with him, he was happy, a couple of days before they left and no mention of problems or needs. Of course, we want our guest to be happy and to return, this is our goal. Things do break down from time to time, which is unavoidable, and we try to stay on top of our guest every request and need. We tried with these people, but some people just cannot be pleased.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOUSE

Stay away from this VRBO house! The posting is misleading and the house is not as advertised. The house sits on such a steep incline that the driveway is virtually inaccessible without a four wheel drive vehicle and an experienced and skilled driver. Be prepared to park at the bottom of the road leading to the house and make the long climb up to the house with all of your luggage. To make matters worse, the central air does not reach the bedroom or the bathroom, so both rooms stayed freezing cold during our stay. There was a small space heater provided, but was loud and did nothing to help. To add insult to injury, the furnace itself is so loud you can't hold a conversation while it's running, which makes it nearly impossible to relax and enjoy the house. On top of that, the shower drips constantly, takes a full ten minutes to warm up, and ran out of hot water after just one and a half showers. The entire interior of the house is coated with a layer of dust, which is not only unsightly but also unsanitary. The mattress is old, lacks support and stability, and sinks in on the edges, which made for a terrible night's sleep. We were incredibly disappointed with this VRBO rental and left after just one night of our seven night rental. We would not recommend it to anyone. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

After 2 days this guest left. He said the road was unsafe and had no guard rails. The property says “mountainous terrain” and also shows the road, WITH GUARD RAILS in the pictures. So it shouldn’t have come as a surprise this house is on a hill. He stated if I didn’t refund his monies he would leave a bad review, as you have read he did. I told him I would not return his money as it states in our description and the pictures show it is built into a hill/mountain. Being in Phoenix it is an exaggeration using the description as a mountain as it is more like a hill. After saying I wouldn’t refund his money because he was frightened of the road he then mentioned a drip in the shower, said the AC/Heater unit is loud. It is common for the ac/heaters units to be on roof in Phoenix and you can hear them turn on and off. This is something I also wasn't use to as coming from the mid-west the units are always on the ground. The shower head did have a small drip. Reading that the house had a layer of dust is simply untrue. This house is rented for short stays and clean thoroughly after every stay, which is often, sometimes every 2 days. The reviews on our vacation sites comment on the cleanliness of the houses. Our Super Host status can attest to this, which is for continually having high reviews. If he would have talked to us instead of just leaving assuming he was afraid and didn’t have to possibly leave Phoenix, I would have gladly gave him the house below and actual upgrade, but he didn’t. After being a vacation rental home for 18 years no one has left because of the road or any other reason. I am sorry he did not appreciate a “mountainous” house as the view is wonderful and is what make this place so special, so I believe he was looking for an excuse. We always try to make each and every guest happy during their stay. That is our goal and why we have so many people return every year.

Amazing views!!!

Great place to unwind and watch the sunset, hot air balloons and have dinner on the balcony and then enjoy the evening in the hot tub. We hiked all over from Tempe to Sedona and we really looked forward to this awesome perch/nest on the hill at the end of the day. Morning coffee was a treat on balcony or hot tub. We loved the openness and privacy of the place. Would definitely recommend and return.

Kent and Fran are from Nebraska and are Huskers through and through. Most of our family are within a mile and we are very thankful to be able to see our kids and grandkids on a regular basis. We have two Golden Retrievers which fill our hearts every day!

Why they chose this property

This was the first vacation rental we bought and now have four on the same mountain. We have made a theme in each house and decorated accordingly. It make them very unique and with the views that each house has, it stands out among many! The MIrage with an Island theme, is a spacious one bedroom with sunsets you won't forget

What makes this property unique

We are close to interstate 17, 51 and the 101 which makes it very easy to get going quickly. Cafe's, bars, gold and shopping are within 10 minutes. The special town of Cave Creek and Carefree are must to visit and only 15 minutes away. Take a day trip within 2 hours to Sedona, Flagstaff, Jeronme and Prescott and you won't be disappointed.
