Radda in Chianti is one of the last true medieval villages of the Chianti Classico. In a region where luxury villas sit far from any town, Villa Le Rondini is the only one within walking distance of a village, just a short stroll from Radda's piazza, and that closeness shapes the whole day: coffee in the village at nine, a long lunch in the piazza, a browse through the enoteca, and then, as the light turns gold, the short walk home for an aperitivo on the terrace, facing the villa's famous panoramic sunset over the Chianti hills.
The house has stood for four centuries and has been several things in that time: a watchtower on the road between Florence and Siena, a noble family's home, a working estate that made its own wine and salumi. A five year restoration with Tuscan master artisans brought back the stone walls, the vaulted ceilings and the terracotta floors, and hid the modern comforts where you feel them but never see them.
Five ensuite bedrooms each take a single soft colour, blue, pink, green, yellow or ivory, with antique furniture, artisan textiles and deep-set windows that pull light into the old stone.
Below, in the villa's former winemaking rooms, two spaces carry the evenings: a grand kitchen under restored stone arches, where a ten-seat Carrara marble island gathers everyone around the evening's cooking, and the old cantina beside it, whose vaulted ceiling lends natural acoustics to a long candlelit dinner or an evening of wine and music.
Outside, an elevated ten thousand square metre estate faces the Chianti valley. On summer days a breeze rises from the Florentine valley and moves across the terraces, so even August afternoons by the pool stay comfortable in the shade. The lawns hold an intimate wedding as easily as an empty afternoon.
Siena, Florence and San Gimignano are all within reach.
Daily housekeeping and 1x mid week linen and towel change (5 days a week) available on request, payable on site 500 Euros a week.

Why they chose this property
Villa Le Rondini is three minutes on foot from the piazza of Radda in Chianti. In a region where most villas require a car for everything, that changes the experience entirely. The restoration took six years by master craftsmen. The cantina alone took a full year: every brick removed and reinstated by hand by only two masons, the Proveddi brothers. Original details throughout the villa remain untouched: 150-year-old light fittings, the original stone sink in the living room, and the hand-rung bell at the watchtower. The underfloor climate system runs silently throughout, no noise, no dry air. The villa has been part of this village for four centuries. Some of the older residents in Radda spent part of their childhood here. It was once a gathering place for the whole community, for food, for wine, and for care.
What makes this property unique
Radda in Chianti is quieter and less visited than the other Chianti Classico towns, and that's precisely why people who know Tuscany well tend to end up here. The village has its own rhythm, market days, local festivals, a piazza that fills slowly in the evenings. In summer the village comes alive with open-air concerts, food celebrations and events that guests can walk to straight from the villa. The sunsets are famously pink and purple, a peculiarity of the valley light that painters and photographers have been coming for decades to capture.
Several respected Chianti Classico producers are within minutes of the villa. Private wine tastings can also be arranged at the villa itself. In season, truffle and porcini hunting can be arranged nearby. The countryside offers walking, cycling and horse riding through vineyards and olive groves. The winding roads through the Chianti hills are some of the most scenic drives in Italy. Cooking classes in the grand kitchen with a private chef, and day trips to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra complete the picture.
