Ideally suited for an adult couple traveling alone, or with well-behaved pets. Works equally well for short or longer term visits. Eastlake Victorian carriage house, architecturally stunning. Owner received green design award for historic renovation. This unit exudes the charm of a bygone era, but has all the conveniences of modern living. Balcony overlooks main property, garden, and scenic West Cliff Drive. Peek ocean view from balcony. Private on-site parking and plenty of privacy, yet only minutes away from world-class dinning, a dream-like 10k jog/run/stroll right outside your doorstep, scenic vistas, and many opportunities to recreate and enjoy the great outdoors. Owner provides complimentary coffee, decaf, tea, and beverages for your consumption. Garage space available for storage of larger items, and washer/dryer accessible for longer term guests (located in a shared space). Strictly no smoking, please. Pets are cordially welcome for an additional fee---please notify us in advance if traveling with your animal companion.
Also please note: we are fortunate to have temperate, usually quite pleasant weather in Santa Cruz. Due to the historic nature of the building, we were not permitted to install an A/C unit. Please plan accordingly if booking during hot Summer months.

Great location, very convenient to the Wharf, short drive to downtown. Well designed space. Great communication with owner. Excellent suggestions and instructions about the property. An important thing in vacation rentals, that is often overlooked, but this one is succinct and well done.
Location is amazing, literally steps from the ocean. The carriage house is charming and stocked with everything you could need!

The host is attentive and quite welcoming. She made sure I had everything I needed during my stay. The Carriage House is so cute and cozy. I wish I could never leave :)
Everything was as described. Walkable to everything in Santa Cruz. The property was beautiful, well kept and properly appointed. Would definitely come again.
This is a unique property set back from the road, giving it an isolated feel despite being mere steps away from Westcliff. Cozy, relaxed, charming place. Khristina is great, super communicative and very fast to respond to anything you need. On the shortlist of places to consider when coming to Santa Cruz.

I can’t recommend this location enough! W. Cliff Dr. is steps away with some of the best ocean views in California. The pier and Boardwalk are also very walkable. Nights are surprisingly quiet, and because of its location you are set back from street noise and people traveling to visit the beach. The on-site parking is super convenient and the space provided accommodates a larger size SUV easily. We hope to have the opportunity for a longer stay in the future.

I absolutely loved staying at the Epworth Carriage House! It was so clean and comfortable and Khristina was very helpful and communicative. The location was perfect and I can't wait to go back to Santa Cruz and stay there again.
Wonderful rental with everything you need, exceptional bathroom, great water pressure in the shower, friendly owner, and comfortable bed. My favorite part was all the charming details of the carriage house.

The carriage house is in a great location in a nice neighborhood. It's an ideal place for walking to the wharf or along West Cliff Drive. Khristina is very responsive and pleasant. The carriage house is just as it looks in the photos, very comfortable and charming. I had a very nice vacation here.

I came for a week of solitude and writing. The carriage house was a perfect setting: very comfortable bed, living space, great bathroom and kitchen fully stocked. I loved ending my day sitting on the balcony. The location is ideal if you love to stroll by the ocean and take in the unique scene of Santa Cruz. The pictures are very are accurate, except they don’t show the two comfy reading chairs next to the round dining table. Khristin is such a kind and gracious host! I highly recommend her home!!

This was the ideal location for a quiet yet fun weekend getaway. The space is very well maintained and paced with beautiful details.
When we were ready to head out and enjoy Santa Cruz, it was a very short walk to the boardwalk, a short drive to downtown SC.
The hosts were friendly, and very responsive. I’d love to stay for another weekend, and I would recommend the same to my friends!

We stayed here for a week over the Christmas holiday. The location was great, walking distance to the wharf and lots of places to get food. The unit was so cute, clean and very well appointed. The shower is terrific! The owner is easy to communicate with throughout the whole process.

Charming House-great neighborhood
The Carriage House is a wonderful little hideaway within walking distance of the most beautiful part of Santa Cruz. My family loved the beach access and the quiet. It is very well-maintained and the customer service was way above and beyond what is usually expected. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting the full Santa Cruz experience. We were grateful to find this magical place and look forward to our next trip!

Why they chose this property
Location, location, location! I never thought I would find myself living in a frilly Victorian, but I have grown to love and appreciate the historic nature of my home and it's architectural style. And the view isn't bad, either. :-) I would say this vacation rental is most ideally suited to guests who are seeking non-standard lodging/accommodation that is superbly situated.
What makes this property unique
Landmark property registered on the National directory as 'Epworth-by-the-sea'. The carriage house was actually used to house a buggy and horses during the late 1800's. The bottom floor has been converted into a garage and storage; the top floor is the rental unit. Many of the original design features remain, including rough hewn floors made with redwood harvested from the Santa Cruz mountains more than 100 years ago. We are pet friendly (fees apply---please let us know in advance), and four-legged visitors seems to enjoy the area quite a bit. Off leash dog beach less than half a mile from the property. This property works exceptionally well for longer term guests seeking a home away from home. Guests booking for 30 nights or more are exempt from paying Transient Occupancy Tax (normally 11% of rental cost for stays less than 30 days). We are happy to adjust your rental quote accordingly for longer stays...just ask! Also, we believe in legitimacy, and in providing our guests with peace of mind in knowing that we faithfully observe all rules and taxation principles required in our local Zoning ordinance. Our City of Santa Cruz TOT permit number is 18-0090.
