Escape to a cozy riverside cabin in Pembroke, where open-concept comfort meets the natural beauty of the New River. The loft, accessed by ladder, offers one full bed and two twin beds; an additional full-size bed is located in the living area. With a full kitchen, covered porch, and patio space, this retreat is an inviting home base for a weekend getaway or a week-long adventure.
Soak up abundant natural light from the skylight above the bed and the sliding glass doors, cast a line from the riverbank, or settle into the porch swing on the patio below the cabin. Please note that an active train line follows the New River through Giles County, and trains will be heard during your stay. You may also experience a brief wait at the railroad crossing at the end of the road. The railroad is part of the area’s rural character, but guests—especially light sleepers and those seeking complete quiet—should consider this before booking.
The cabin is located down a private gravel road that includes a railroad crossing. There are no streetlights along the road, so guests arriving after dark should plan accordingly and drive with care.
Make this comfortable New River cabin your home base for fishing, unwinding by the water, and enjoying the natural beauty of Pembroke.

We were in town for our daughter’s graduation from Virginia Tech. The cost was the same as hotels the same distance in the opposite direction of the school so we decided to try this as opposed to coming from Roanoke area. No traffic at all and such a peaceful location. We knew it was rustic and that there were two lofts. We are all over 18 and healthy so that wasn’t a concern climbing the steep ladders. The bathroom has a lot of counter space which was necessary with 3 girls! We really enjoyed the space and hope to come back when we can spend more time and get on the river.
We did a quick overnight while visiting colleges in the area. The place was as described (the listing had minimal detail) but greater detail would have been nice to have as we made a lot of assumptions. There is no television or wifi; cell service was spotty but better outside of the cabin. We happened to bring fishing poles and card games so we managed to occupy ourselves just fine without. It wasn't the cleanest place we’ve stayed; lots of ladybugs and stink bugs in the floorboards and under pillows/blankets, etc. and we only had 3 towels for 4 people. We are pretty outdoorsy people so it wasn’t worth calling anyone to fix for a one night stay but for the cost we would have expected something cleaner. Things that may be important to note for others visiting: 3 beds are in a loft that are only accessible via very steep ladders (one ladder is straight up, no slant at all). There is also an active railroad directly in front of the house. Just a heads up on those things if you have small children. Teenagers managed it fine. Overall, it was a beautiful view and quiet which is all we needed for a single night stay.
