We enjoyed our stay quite a bit! The apartment was right in the heart of Wellfleet, easy walk to nearby amenities, and easy parking. Very cute inside and looked as described/pictured, very charming. We thought things might be loud/crowded due to Labor Day weekend but Wellfleet was very quiet and relaxing. Our only two (very minor) complaints: the bathroom felt like it could have used a deeper clean, and though linens/towels/dishware are provided, there weren’t any spares (only exactly 4 of everything) meaning if you needed a second towel to dry your hair or wanted to cook and needed another dish, you were out of luck. Future visitors may want to consider bringing some disposable dishware and extra towels just in case. Again though - this is minor! I didn’t need to interact with the owner much but we got all the info needed both from her message beforehand and the informational binder in the apartment. We had a great time celebrating my 30th birthday and are already looking forward to our next stay on the Cape!
I spent two weeks in this apartment and it is a great rental. For part of the time I was joined by a friend with two children and it was roomy enough for four people. The location cannot be beat with its proximity to everything both the water and the town center. . The water in the backyard is peaceful and beautiful. The hosts, Eva and Sara, are kind and responsive. The inside setup is exactly as described. I recommend it 100%.
When we arrived in Wellfleet our expectations were not high for this apartment, we were basically just looking for a place to rest our head at night. We had a 3 night stay but we only stayed one night. The house is from 1800s falling apart in bad shape. There are maybe 3 more apartments that are occupied in this house. I was walking out of the front door down to grass level and some man was just staring from basement unit while in bed, it was creepy. The reason we did not stay the rest of the two nights was because the house was filled with mosquitos and bugs. On the second night my son and I were getting eaten alive (it was that bad) there is some sort of rodent that is in wall we heard them or it scurrying and running, it became too u settling we packed up and went to the Four Points Sheraton in town. I highly recommend staying there over this apartment it wasn't that much more $. The owners were notified and we asked for compensation just for the two nights we did not stay, we have not heard back from them since. We use Vrbo regularly and this our first time we had a bad place and the owners don't seem to care.
Wonderful charming place & hosts.
Beautiful artwork throughout apt. & lovely accommodations. Cannot wait to return & spend more time here. We thoroughly enjoyed walking into town & exploring this beautiful scenic area.
Great place to stay walking distance from a beach!
The place was comfortable and very nicely located for a great weekend on the Cape! Close to beaches and hikes and a little bit off the beaten path.
I missed the turn into the driveway twice, so make sure you drive slow when you're getting close!
The best-located rental in Wellfleet for visitors and residents needing temporary accomodations who want to enjoy the town the bay and the beach without the hassle of driving. In the heart of Wellfleet Center Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Great for kayakers, Peake House is steps from Duck Creek itself, with peekaboo waterviews from the drive and from the shared deck. Peake House is four houses from Mac's Shack on one side and a half dozen houses from the town pier and other dining options on and around Mayo's Beach. Walk to Wellfleet's many galleries, Uncle Tim's Bridge, and any other in-town location. Experience sunsets from the pier, food from any of many options, and the Wellfleet Harbor Stage, a three-minute walk away. You don't need a car if you stay at Peake House.
What makes this property unique
Stroll down to Uncle Tim's Bridge to watch the tide come in, gallery-hop, or walk to the library for a lecture or a book. Convenient biking in every direction. Convenient kayak Duck Creek put-in on the property for guest use. Abundant vistas for artists to sketch. The waterfront behind the house was the subject of a two-page National Geographic centerfold in the nineteen seventies.
