New to the rental market in May 2026, welcome to Hem's Roost!

This quiet, comfortable and spacious studio is centrally located to all points of interest on the Crystal Coast. Ideal for a couple seeking a relaxing getaway, this sun drenched and charming accommodation offers a tranquil and private setting with original artwork, fishing memorabilia, and nautical antiques that will add warmth and a bit of nostalgia to your stay.

Only 2-miles to Atlantic Beach! Bring your bikes and walking shoes as it’s only 2-miles down bucolic Evans St. to restaurants at the Morehead City waterfront or walk across Arendell St. at crosswalk to Crystal Coast Welcome Center and enjoy the sound-side boardwalk at sunset.

A well-behaved pooch (50lbs. max) will love the fully fenced in yard where they can play fetch when you're not at the beach just 2-miles away! Please add your pup to your reservation where applicable.

Boat trailer parking (RESTRICTIONS: boats are limited to 26' max, single outboard, with dual axel trailer max. Non-negotiable. Do NOT show up with larger as you will not be allowed to park it on property) as well for those wanting to use Morehead City Boat Ramp located just 500’ away. Property ideally accommodates a coastal skiff suited for in-shore fishing and family fun, NOT an off-shore fishing boat. ALERT HOST if your plans include bringing a boat on a trailer.

Return to your studio to relax in the comfortable leather club chairs and have a great night’s sleep in the king size bed. If you’re the early riser, not a problem! Quietly slip out of bed and take your cup of coffee outside onto the patio to enjoy the porch swing or Adirondack chair while your better half gets their beauty rest!!

Driveway parking makes for easy loading/unloading and vehicle security. Property exterior has motion sensor spotlights and generous landscape lighting for secure night time coming and going.

Owner manager lives full-time nearby and is readily available for assistance of any kind.

Boats are restricted to: 26' max. w single outboard and dual axel trailer max. Inshore skiff is ideal. Non-Conforming boats NOT permitted on property.

We had an amazing stay in Morehead City! The property was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The location was perfect—close to the waterfront, local restaurants, and all the charm that Morehead City has to offer.The host was friendly, responsive, and made sure every detail was taken care of. The accommodations were exactly as described, and we felt right at home from the moment we arrived.We especially enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful coastal surroundings. This was one of the best stays we've had, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. We look forward to coming back again!

Perfect for two and a dog for a quick getaway weekend at the beach! All the amenities you need and a fully gated yard for the pup to run freely. A small propane grill sits outside if you want to cook (microwave, small sink, and single-serve kuerig inside too). This is a studio room off to the side of a garage, but you’d never know! It is a completely finished space. Parking is easy, communication with the host is great — would recommend!

Great place for couples and people with a boat. The decorations are very cute, the pictures on the listing do not do it justice. There is plenty of room with the way they laid the furniture out. They keep it very clean and work hard to make you have a great stay. The host was amazing, he was very kind and great to talk to. We will be back for sure!!

The entire stay was PERFECT! There was nothing that we needed because everything was so well thought of! The intention of the decor in the home was amazing and the outdoor seating area and yard for the pup was exactly what we needed! Tom was very prompt with Communication and super easy to work with!! The place was spotless and bed was extremely comfortable. No complaints here at all….cannot wait to come back and stay again.

Your hosts, Kathy and Ted, lived in NYC for ten years and the coast of Maine for seven, prior to moving to Morehead City in 2007. Eastern NC reminds us a good deal of coastal Maine believe it or not, minus the snow! We enjoy travel ourselves but always enjoy coming "home" to Carteret County.

Why they chose this property

Ted is a history buff and appreciates the quiet little neighborhood the cottage is in due to the fact that it once was an army base in the early 1900s called, Camp Glenn. As a matter of fact most locals refer to this neighborhood still as, "Camp Glenn." So if anyone asks where your delightful cottage is just tell them that and they'll know where it's located! North Carolina soldiers trained here for the Spanish American War in 1898.

What makes this property unique

The studio is unique in that it is in a great central location for exploring the Crystal Coast. Atlantic Beach is a 7-minute drive, Beaufort is 12-minutes, Big Rock Baseball Stadium is 5-minutes. The hospital is so close that the helicopters occasionally land and take off nearby for some excitement but never a disturbance. The Crystal Coast Welcome Center is just across Arendell/Hwy 70 as is the public boat ramp, community college and civic center. Super market is 2-minutes away.
