This was a wonderful property that exceeded our expectations in every way! It was uniquely and beautifully decorated which made it feel much more like home. It is one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. The location is perfect and close to so many fun places to visit - Mentone, Ft. Payne, DeSoto state park, hiking trails, falls… communication with hosts was exemplary! The back porch and fire pit areas were well used and there was plenty of space for everyone (4 adults and 3 kids!) We will definitely be back!

We are pleased you took note of our artsy decor and that it made you feel comfortable and at home. That’s what we hope for when guests visit our cottage. It sounds like your group enjoyed some of the main attractions on Lookout Mountain….and then were able to wind down at the cottage afterwards around the fire pit. We too hope you will stay with us again! 😃
This cabin was perfect for our long weekend getaway to celebrate a big family milestone. The hosts were super communicative and friendly! If we’re ever in Mentone again, we won’t hesitate to rebook this place.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We are very pleased that you had a great stay and you loved the decor. We aim for that cozy feel and comfort for our guests. We hope you will plan another trip to Mentone and will stay at Huckleberry Haven again! 😃
I had booked another cabin inadvertently for 2027, which was not available for this year when I realized my mistake. I had to broaden my search area because many cabins in the area we originally planned for were also not available. What started out as a mistake and disappointment turned into a wonderful blessing for our family. Huckleberry Haven was definitely a “meant to be.” I cannot say enough great things about the owner, the property, and location. The house is beyond charming and so comfortable that it feels like the best hug. We have stayed in many VRBOs through the years and this is by far one of our favorites. Sarah and Jasper have gone to great lengths to make you feel welcomed. The home is well stocked with a variety of kitchen items, seating and beds, and plenty of towels! Sarah has a true gift for decorating…just precious. We appreciated all the extra touches that made everyone feel right at home. One of my grandsons (7) said he wanted to come here again and again. Mentone has always been such a great place to visit, but now we look forward to returning just so we can stay in Huckleberry Haven!

Huckleberry Haven was very cozy, all necessities were provided, it felt like being at home. David, the manager, kept in contact to be sure we had everything we needed. I would strongly recommend a stay here. There are lots of places to visit in the area and some very good resturants.

Why they chose this property
We love that Huckleberry Haven is located in quaint Mentone down a country gravel road, surrounded by the woods and that it has a lovely view of a small lake from the back porch! Deer and other wildlife wander through the property and it's always a thrill to see them! It's truly a serene, relaxing, get-away-from-it-all place!
What makes this property unique
Huckleberry Haven Mentone is located near local Boy Scout Camp Comer, and it's large and roomy enough for a good-size group of 12. It has a lovely “in the woods” feel and the views of the little lake are peaceful. The house is located close to "downtown" Mentone (about 15 minutes) and only about 10 minutes from DeSoto State Park. It's about 30 minutes from Little River Canyon. And you can travel along beautiful mountain roads to arrive in Ft. Payne in about 15-20 minutes. There you'll find more restaurants, shopping and grocery stores.
