Chalet Almenrausch is situated in the middle of the village in Ey quartier, just after the church and the bridge and only 25 meters from the main street. This is a renovated historical building with the Weise Lutschine River, the Staubach waterfall, the church, a playground, and the historical Museum all nearby. It is only a 8 minute walk to the railway station, a two minute walk to the pub and near several restaurants in the neighborhood. It is the second bus stop from railway station called Ey. The Winter Jungfrau pass allows free bus and trains rides in the area. The proprietor is at your disposition to give details of the area, or other tips or ideas about all the things to do during your vacation. Lauterbrunnen in Winter:: Lauterbrunnen is a perfect base for a winter holiday. For the active holidaymaker you can enjoy activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoe trekking, sledging, paragliding, curling and heli-skiing. However for the more sedate there are reduced price passes for non skiers so that you can enjoy the fabulous scenery or meet up for lunch. The revolving restaurant at the top of the Schiltorn should not be missed and further afield there are lovely shops and cafes in Grindelwald. It is also possible to take a boat ride on the lake year round.
The Berne tourist office has classified our
apartment in Three Star category .For skiers we an get 10 per cent discount ski rent charges .


Lauterbrunnen in Spring / Summer:: In Spring / Summer Lauterbrunnen is an excellent base for exploring the Jungfrau region. You can take the train up to Jungfraujoch (the highest railway and restaurant in Europe) or the cable car to Schiltorn/Piz Gloria, film location of James Bond. There are hiking and cycle paths for all abilities, the Eiger trail or a gentle stroll along the Lauterbrunnen valley, via Gimmelwald and Stechelberg. Or take bikes up to Murren and cycle back down to Lauterbrunnen. Local folklore festivals, yodelling, flag throwing and dancing displays take place in the summer months. Food is an important part of staying in the mountains. Excellent local produce such as cheese, hams and bread are all available locally. The lakes and Interlaken are only 8 miles away, with several beaches around the lake, as well as the swimming pool in the village there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, water sports and boat rides.

Perfect flat for hiking and relaxing

Good location for valley transport, grocery, and restaurants. Thoughtful hosts provide everything you need for vacation from touring advice to clean, well kept rooms. Beautiful patio to enjoy the peaceful valley. We would stay here again

Skiing holiday

We would thoroughly recommend this appartment. Clean, well equipped and comfortable. Perfect for a family of 5. Holiday made all the better by perfect skiing condiions in nearby Wengen. A bus stop 1 min walk away and 100% reliable Swiss public transport made the daily journey to Wengen a breeze.

It is convenient to travel from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen and Kleinescheidegg just in one train and you reach one the best ski areas of Switzerland while enjoying the stunning views of the Jungfrau mountains. Besides if you travel to the other side , you have Muerrn and Schilthorn, another attractive area for skiers. A 360 degree view from Schilthorn is indeed a beautiful view on a blue sky day.

An ideal place to enjoy the Jungfrau mountains

It was good , had everything needed for an enjoyable stay , lots of info and ideally situated to go up either side of the valley . Although the info says there is a garden , this is not a garden to sit in but a flowerbed in front of the property . It was not an issue as there is a nice verandah to sit outside .

Thank you Ida for the nice review . You are right , it is not a real garden. It is a flower bed with several types of plants and flowers. They bloom at different periods and you can only admire them while sitting. on the verandah . The verandah is nice place to sit and admire the world famous Staubach vertical waterfall which is also lit up during night . You can also go to the top where the water falls and feel it and have a nice view of Lauterbrunnen village. after passing thru a tunnel . Hope you have enjoyed Lauterbrunnen during. your stay.

Well equipped, great location

The chalet has everything you need for a comfortable stay in beautiful Lauterbrunnen. The view was amazing, there's a little patio with chairs to sit with a glass of wine enjoying the view of the waterfall and amazing surroundings. Unfortunately, we had rain almost every day and were grateful for the extensive library of dvd's and the flawless wifi. The little town is walking distance and the bus stops every half an hour across the street. The property is clean and well maintained, the owners very helpful.

It is true if it rains we have other means of entertainment like several DVDs,Carom board,books on several countries etc. There are umbreallas to take in the chalet if you wish to go outside. We have also internet radio and you can listen to radio of your local town here thus not missing news from your place . WIFI is strong and belongs to Swisscom which is known for its efficiency. We have two tv sets - if the kids want to watch their programmes, the parents can watch their preferred channels in another room . Proximity to the bus stop is helful to guests who use public transport syste, Wish you all the best in your journey of discovering . This year we had unpredictable weather .

Even Better Than Advertised

If anything, the property looked even better than the pictures depicted. The house is very neat and has all sorts of helpful devices for both cooking and entertainment. And our hosts were wonderful. They personally made sure we knew how everything worked and gave us numerous helpful suggestions about things to do. Finally, the view: Lauterbrunnen is incredibly beautiful, and the view from the home is breathtaking. Our whole stay was perfect.

Thank you Brian for the nice review. Glad to know that you liked your stay in Almenrausch chalet and Lauterbrunnen . Here you are in the midst of nature and you have nice view from the terrace of the Staubach waterfall, Gross Horn mountain etc. It is really nice to look at the waterfall around 22 hrs when it is illuminated by Lauterbrunnen Electrial works . On August 1st , our guests enjoy the fireworks from the terrace for 15 minutes and the show is non stop and world class . In the evening after hike on high mountains, you have chance to see dvd films which yoû may have missed and there are also films for kids . We have a second. TV and DVD for pareents if they wish to see other programmes on TV . We give also tips to our guests as they may not have time to look at the various informaton leaflefts . It is from our personal experience we give these tips.

Cosy and comfortable, with great location

We spent Christmas here with our three sons, who are in their 20s. Two of them wanted to try skiing for the first time. When we arrived, Augustine gave us lots of information about the area and told us where to go to arrange for ski lessons and ski rentals. It's a very short walk into the center of Lauterbrunnen, but our sons liked the fact that there was a bus stop close to the apartment so they didn't have to walk to the train station in their ski boots. The kitchen is nicely set up. We cooked several meals there.

Our kitchen is having all utensils for cooking if you have time . Having a bus stop near the chalet is an advantage because you do not have to struggle with your heavy ski shoes on your way. Everything We Hoped For

Our stay in the Lauterbrunnen Valley was the absolute highest point of a trip through three countries in Europe that was full of high points, and I am not speaking of altitude above sea level. The quiet serenity of the small town of Lauterbrunnen, along with the lush beauty of the valley, with waterfalls and wildflowers abounding beneath towering snow-capped peaks, gave us the feeling of having stumbled into J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional realm of Rivendell. We came in May and were fortunate to have amazing weather, partly sunny and warm for our four full days. The morning we left the temperature did drop below freezing and a huge snowfall created a whole different kind of beauty. The chalet apartment was wonderful. It was spacious and very clean, more comfortable than elegant, which we liked, had good beds, two good-sized bathrooms and a very well-appointed kitchen. The small patio allowed us to enjoy the view of at least three waterfalls while sipping our wine and enjoying our locally made salami and cheese. In the morning we drank our coffee and ate fresh Swiss pastries on the same veranda while watching the waterfalls misty descent to the green valley, as cow bells clunked and tinkled in the distance, and passing neighbors gave cheerful greetings. It was that nice. The landlords were extremely helpful and informative and did all they could to make our stay as good as it could be. It was.

You may pass thru several countries and cities but when you come in Lauterbrunnen you are in the midst of nature . Even the German poet Goethe has written a poem about the Staubach waterfall which you can read at the bottom of the waterfall . Our guests prefer to sit outside in the varandha and enjoy the scenery while having their meals . Wish you all the best in your journeys of exploration .

Convenient, comfortable chalet in a lovely setting

Augustine and Celine are very proud and attentive hosts who were authentically interested in our comfort and contentment. Their chalet is located in a very special location, only a short distance from shops and restaurants in Lauterbrunnen, yet just sufficiently away from town to assure quiet, reasonable privacy, and an exquisite view. No need here to visit a local restaurant for fondue or raclette, the necessary equipment is right in the kitchen. Homemade alpkäse and fresh farm eggs can be bought from local families on the road to Interlaken. Access to the local train station is an easy walk across the river, up a short hill, and down the main street, if you have a mind to go up to the Jungfraujoch, for a memorable experience. Ever walk inside a glacier? Or get a view of what seemed like a third of Europe? The view of the falls lit up at night is enchanting. When we were there, a folk festival was going on nearby. We were treated to yodeling, alphorns, and (LOL) a country-western band from Chicago. Our party had two vehicles, converging from different locations. Convenient parking right by the chalet for one vehicle was free, and very inexpensive parking for the second was closeby. We were very happy with our hosts and their chalet, and would enthusiastically return.

Perfect base for exploring the.

We (three adults) spent a week in this Lauterbrunnen apartment at the end of June, and couldn't have been more delighted. Firstly, the space was huge, occupying the ground floor of a three level chalet. The two bedrooms are of good size, one with a small en-suite, and there is a large bathroom off the entry area. The living/dining room is very spacious, and equipped with two couches and a large dining table. The patio is accessed from the living/dining room. It is small, and adjacent to a common walkway, but provides for beautiful views while sipping a drink in the evening. The kitchen is very well equipped- even a fondue dish and raclette grill, for making cheesy Swiss dinners. The place was meticulously clean, and everything in good working order. But the best feature of this apartment, for us, was its location. It was an easy 10 minute walk to the Lauterbrunnen train and cable stations, for quick access to all the trails the Berner Oberland has to offer, or to anywhere else in Switzerland via the direct train to Interlaken. We hiked extensively on the four sunny days we had, and drove to Gruyere and Bern on the two rainy days. The hosts met us at the apartment on arrival, and spent considerable time showing us how things worked, and suggesting trails and ticket options. They were also in touch regularly by email and text. Communication beforehand was also excellent. About the only thing I would have liked added would be screens on a few windows, so we could enjoy the fresh air without the flies at night. Thanks Celine and Augustine, we had an absolutely fantastic week!

We have noticed that a good number of people make their final stay in Lauterbrunnen before they return to their countries . Believe they wish to retain the best scenes of their last few days during the their holidays. We try to explain to the guests several options of the Jungfrau Bahn pass to that they can choose which is suitable for theim . Regarding the net on the windows , we have to see how this can be done .

great location, view and function

Great view and location for this property are ideal. Quiet two blocks away off the main street offer easy access to all in town with quiet home away from home swiss-style home. Even though decor could use an update, it functions perfectly to offer what is needed while on holiday. Owner is very helpful with going over how to use house and area to full advantage. It was a very special trip and we will return one day. Thank you Augustine.

Thank you Diane for the nice review .We try to explain the facilities to the guests so that. they do not loose time after arrival to settle down . We are slowly changing the furnitures . Several have been changed .The master bed room has an original oak wood bed which can raised on the head and foot side by lifting the base and bed can be softened or hardened by changing the positions .For people with back ache this is a good bed. The led lights are installed in all places. There is a home theatre with surround system. One sofa is new . We are planning to change a few other things . Glad to know that you had good time in Lauterbrunnen .

Best place to stay!!

One of the best places I have lived in a very beautiful town. The house is very clean, comfortable and thoughtfully organized. I just felt at home. It’s a chalet and doesnt look old and outdated, in fact it’s very well maintained with contemporary touches. All amenities work great and hiuse has good lighting. Room sizes are perfect and there’s is enough places to sit, relax store your items and luggage. There are people living on the upper floor, and use the same exterior door to enter, but we never had any disturbance or felt unsafe. Bathrooms and kitchen are stocked up with all the essentials. In kitchen you will find even smaller items like coasters, placemats and apron. Clearly, host has paid attention to minutest details. Host has kept lots of useful handouts and guidebooks to help you plan and explore the area. The veranda has amazing view of waterfall and I enjoyed my morning breakfast enjoying the view. Station is a short 10 min walk and bus stop is just outside the house making it very easy to travel in Lauterbrunnen and all the surrounding areas and towns. Checking in and out was very easy. There is a laundry room in basement. I found it little tricky to operate the washer and dryer as all description is in French and German. But it was not a major issue. I contacted the host and he guided me with instructions to use them. U can do laundry only on two days a week. Host Augustine is a great guy. Very helpful and informative I have stayed in many rental properties and he is the most helpful host I have come across. He was very prompt in communications before my arrival and even during my stay. He gave me lots of valuable suggestions and answered all my queries. Some of them were not even related to this rental house, but he went out of his way to find out and give me info I needed to have a good trip in Switzerland. He keeps in contact with his guests through messages and Whatsapp and is available to contact anytime. Really appreciate all his help. I wish there was an option to give this place and host more than 5 stars. Overall this house met more than my expectations and I felt sad to leave this place. Don’t even think twice. Book this place for your next stay and you will not be disappointed.

Went easily on line and met our needs. Owner had too Many verbal instructions in very difficult to Understand English . Be prepared for very minimal amenities such as bar soap, paper towels etc. overall a quiet , comfortable place with parking adjacent and nice neighbors.

Good that you found it calm and quiet.Most people relax on the veranda after a long hiking on the high mountains ,admiring the mountains and waterfall which is lit up at night.Our verbal instructions are same as the written ones on the wall and machines..We meet our guests on arrival to explain different things.But you seemed to be tired after the journey and asked me to explain everything to your grandson and he told me everything was clear. Though English is not our mother tongue,people understand us normally. I read National Geographic,Int'l New York times...etc. Which means with good vocabulary.We speak also German and French.When we have liquid soap, we do not need supply abundant bar soap.Same with paper towels, we have several cloth cleaning towels. In spite of written instructions on the washing and dryer machines , they were not cleaned after use. We gave you two prepaid waste bags, and found that they were not used . We are wondering how you managed to throw away the kitchen waste .Any way you found it a suitable place for you which is most important.

Lauterbrunnen -- Great location - beautiful views - wonderful space

The property was very clean - a large space and nice kitchen. The views from the front porch were lovely, waterfalls, church steeple, beautiful flowers among others things. We were a three to five minute walk to the train station with nice shops along the way. A wonderful find for sure!!

Charming chalet in beautiful location

The apartment was clean and charming, and had all you need for a week away. It was perfectly situated for exploring Lauterbrunnen itself as well as the wider valley. We did initially find the bed a little on the firm side ( and the pillows ridiculously soft) but it was perfectly serviceable. Lauterbrunnen is a beautiful village, big enough for shops, restaurants etc, but not too big. Though we arrived by car, we then did not use it again for a week ( unprecedented for a holiday ) as we travelled everywhere by train, cablecar or on foot. We visited Wengen, Murren, the Jungfraujoch, Mannlichen, Gimmalwald and Grindelwald, all of which were well worth a visit, or two. We also went to Schynige Platte, a place I hadn't researched before our arrival, and it was one of my personal favourite days out. The jungfrau pass is a must, even if only for three days. For a non-walking-in-the-mountains-day try Brienz or Thun and it's Oberhofen Castle.

Thank you Helen for the nice review with your personal expériences in Jungfrau region. The Jungfrau railways was giving pass for a minimum 6 days before . Now they are starting from 3 days , 4 days and more . Hence the guests can choose depending on their places to visit on the high moutains and also other places outside Jungfrau region . The region outside this area is called Berner Oberland which is also quite beautiful and worth travelling . You have mentioned Thun which is called the city of the Alpes. Here there are 4 castles for interested tourists.Oberhofen castle is high demand for conducting marriages and parties . The infrastructure in Jungfrau region allow tourists to move around in public transport easily. We have different beds in the chalet apartment . The one you have used is a new one with several options . You can raise the head part if you wish to read something before sleeping, can also raise the other end , if you wsh to sleep with your feet a little raised , can also soften or harden by pulling adjustments underneath. Peope with back pain prefer firm bed. Will check if the pillows are soft. Glad to know that you have enjoyed your stay in Lauterbrunnen . Wish you all the best .

Apartment in an excellent location

Augustine and Celine extremely helpful and quick to respond to any queries. View of the Staubach Fall beyond the church is lovely as is the view up the valley. Quiet location and with bus stop for the train station or up the valley 100 yards away and half hourly service during the day to connect with train arrivals and departures. Well equipped compared with many apartments. The new microwave is simpler but the dinner plates are too big to go in and most other plates and small dishes aren't microwaveable with gold on them. Superb location for walking and views (given good weather) and very easy to get away for the international crowds going up to and back down Jungfraujoch.

People appreciate the view from the apartment especially from the terrace where you can sit and relax , have your food and drinks looking at the waterfall , mountains etc.. Good you have noticed that there are a few gold line plates which should not be used in the micro oven .We tell the guests also not to put the golden line plates in the micro oven - But still there are plates and quarter plates which you can put inside and use if placed rightly over the stand .If you find them big , if you slide them a little, they will go inside and turn when you switch on . There is also a plastic cover which should be placed over the food and plate to protect it from rays during heating . Wish you all the best for the future trips - You will have something to discover new for your next trip --

A fantastic property and owners

Our family of 4 (two sons aged 14 and 9) stayed here for two weeks. It was an excellent base for us to explore the area. The spacious home was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was also very convenient, as it was a quick and easy walk to the train station, grocery store, etc. We loved sitting on the patio in the evening looking at the waterfall and into the valley. Our boys enjoyed the playground that was only about 3-5 minutes away by foot. They also tried the mini golf, which is near the playground, and had a lot of fun. The outdoor swimming pool in town was a big hit, too. We went there a few times, since we were lucky enough to have some really warm days. The owners were very helpful prior to and during our trip. They were pleasant and welcoming and provided good tips of where to go while using our Swiss Travel Pass. We really appreciated the personal attention and ideas that fit our family well. We wish we could have stayed longer. There are so many places to explore in this beautiful region!

From Lauterbrunnen you are able to visit several places including the Jungfrau mountains and several cities of Switzerland with Swiss Pass - You are able to travel to the neighbouring areas of Switzerland which includes Germany, France, and Italy . Yes the Swimming pool is an attraction in high summer here in Lauterbrunnen and it is with a view of the mountains. The play ground is useful for families with children and besides there is a mini golf and tennis ground 300 meters away from the chalet. If you come back you will find further places to discover in Jungfrau region . Glad to know that you have enjoyed Lauterbrunnen -

Perfect location with an incredible view

We stayed for 4 nights as two couples at this vacation rental and it worked out wonderfully for us. Two bedrooms and two baths, one ensuite and the other spacious with double sinks. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the ensuite bathroom functional but a little on the small side. We could have wished for more than one towel and one wash cloth per person for the entire stay, but I'm quite certain if we would have asked, they would have provided them. The kitchen was well supplied with needed cookware, etc. and we enjoyed several meals in and also appreciated the ability to pack a lunch to take on our daily ventures. There is even a raclette maker and fondue pot to eat like a local. The June weather was unseasonably very chilly and rainy for most of our days and they advised us on how to turn on the boiler which had been turned off for the season so we could be comfortable after spending hours in the the cold and rain. When the sun did come out, finally, we enjoyed sitting on the front patio and taking in the beautiful scenery. There is a short-cut trail up into town center that is a bit steep, but provided a feel like you are part of this little village. If you didn't care to walk the 10 minutes into the commercial area, the bus stop in right in front of the apartment and you can save your legs for those glorious mountain trail hikes. This bus also takes you right to Stechelberg where you get on the cable car to travel up to Schilthorn. A ticket on the bus was about $4. Augustin and Celeste were very charming and spent a great deal of time providing us with information on our arrival. Their communication prior to and during our stay was exceptional and much appreciated. This is just a wonderful apartment and we highly recommend it over any of the hotels in the area for the convenience, space and location.

Thank you Beverly for the wonderful and detailed review. It was unfortunate that you had some rain during your stay but now it is really warm with around 30 c degrees. And in Lauterbrunnen valley you feel cool . It is true you can walk to the railway station in 3 different ways one behind the apartment there is a road and you can cross the Weisse Lutchinen river on a very high bridge where you can hear the sound of the rushing waters. The distance to Stehelberg is 6 kms and hence you have to pay around that amount - But to the railway station it is only about 900 ms . In winter the bus is free for all . Wish you all the best in your discovery trips .

The holiday of a lifetime

The apartment was perfect for our stay - gorgeous views, easy access to station and cable cars, very clean, very well equipped, very comfortable. It was our first holiday in Switzerland and Lautebrunnen was ideal for fantastic scenery, lots to do and easy to travel to all other areas. The apartment owners kindly picked us up from the station and were very welcoming. We were able to really relax in the apartment and did lots hiking from the front door and it was hot and sunny !

It is very convenient to hike from the chalet to different destinations - along the river to Interlaken , to Wengen which takes one hour thirty minutes, 6 kms to Stehelberg along the car free road, etc..

Perfect for a ski trip!

We stayed in the apartment for 5 days in February, and we were very happy with our choice. The apartment's location is good, as it is just next to the bus station, so easy access to Lauterbrunnen railway. The views from the apartment are beautiful, just keep in mind is ground floor. The apartment is very clean, has everything, I mean everything you might need for your vacation. One night we wanted to have cheese fondue, and there is a cheese fondue set available in the kitchen. In the apartment there is a TV, DVD player, radio, coffee machine, dishwasher , books, DVDs, and the list could go on. The rooms are of good size, the beds comfortable and towels and bed linen are provided. For skiers, there is a room to store the skis and another one for the ski boots. Thank you to the owners for their help.

Thank you for the nice review . You can also see the view when you see the video clip which is at the end of the website . Summer birds should not shiver when they see this as it is a winter scene. But in summer too it is equally beautiful. And you can sit outside on the verandah and enjoy the waterfall and mountains. For those who wish to listen to their local radio stations , it is enough advise your town in advance and we can search it and store it for you . You can get several stations from different countries of the world. In winter the yellow bus is free and you can go as far Stehelberg ( 6 kms) and see the valley . For the adventurous skier there is the Lauberhorn run above Wengen, or the wonderful 16km long run from the top of the Schiltorn back to Lauterbrunnen, rated as one of the best runs in the world with stunning views. Excellent English-speaking ski-schools are based in Wengen and Murren. Local bus is free during ski season for all .For skiers we can get 10 per cent discount ski rent charges in Lauterbrunnen.
