About this property
Tastefully renovated 3 bed house + wood sauna on 19 acres.
A tastefully renovated 3 bedroom, one-story residence with a separate wood sauna located on 19 acres of forest and blueberry fields. It is an easy 20 minute drive to Houghton, Michigan Technological University and the Isle Royale National Park boat dock. You will experience the secluded peace and quiet of the Upper Peninsula, as the house is well off the main roads. During the day hike, fish, and explore Lake Superior beaches, waterfalls, and visit the many historical and tourist attractions in the Copper Country. In the evening sit on the deck after a wood-fired sauna, and watch deer as the moon comes up over the surrounding trees.
There are many blueberry and other berry bushes available on the property to pick and enjoy in the fully equipped kitchen. Depending on the weather, blueberry season usually starts by the 4th week in July and lasts to the end of September.

Our family enjoyed our stay at Opa's. It was within driving distance of many hiking trails and waterfalls. The host was very responsive to our questions. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay while visiting the U.P.
We stayed here for the Lake Superior Performance Rally. The property is nice since it has lots of room for parking trailers and space for the cars. The property is also beautiful in the fall with lots of wildlife to watch.

Thanks, Nathan - hope to see you for the Rally next year..!!
My Mom and I were very pleased with our stay at Opa's Blueberry Haven. The house was cozy and had everything we needed. The location was a perfect "base camp" for exploring the Keweenaw Peninsula and the owners were prompt in responding to our messages. Loved it so much we plan on coming again next year!

Great location and very nice house
We stayed here while competing in the Lake Superior Performance Rally. It's the perfect location for that, half-way between the starts of each day and lots of room for trailers. The house was well kept and clean inside and in a nice, relaxing area.
Check in was easy and travel directions were clear. Very nice home with plenty of towels.Overall, well stocked kitchen with little extras that were nice since we planned on cooking a lot while we were there to stock up on food for our collage age kid.Host was responsive to phone calls and plesant to talk to.Lots of games to play and the access to computer was a bonus. Lots of room to walk and rhe sauna was nice.
Lovely setting with large deck, grassy area, trees and blueberry farm. Beautiful walk on the quiet road in the morning listening to birds. Enjoyed the sauna, corn hole and watching deer run through the property. Comfortable beds, spacious living room and dining room and well equipped kitchen. Hosts were extremely accommodating and helpful. We had a wonderful time and hope to visit again.
My family and I had a wonderful time at Opas. The property was beautiful and the smell of all the flowers and fresh air was just what the Doctor ordered. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this property to anyone and everyone who wants to just sit back and enjoy the smells and views. Marty and Mary thank you for sharing your piece of Heaven with us.
Property was awesome. Wood for a fire, wood for the Sauna, clean and well maintained. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting peace and quiet, yet close enough for lotsa day trips to see the beauty Eid the Copper country
We've stayed at multiple places in the Houghton area and this is now our favorite. Lots of space, fully equipped kitchen, great deck. Blueberries not quite ripe yet, but fresh raspberries right out the front door. Easy drive into Houghton. Host was super responsive. (There were not any problems, we just had questions.) Definitely hope to stay here again on our next trip.
We enjoyed our stay here. We had a parade of about 30 turkeys go thru the back yard daily, it was quite a sight!! The property is comfortable and nicely stocked with most everything you need! The only major issue I had was there was no whirlpool tub as pictured on the website. My husband & I were really looking forward to that but the new shower was very, very nice!
Awesome property. We had fun picking blueberries, time in the sauna... The family room is nice & big. Furnishings galore--about everything you would need. We grilled, cooked, baked. Nice big deck & yard. Just about perfect. Brought 3 of our kids & 2 littles for half the trip. We all had a blast. Thank you so much! HIGHLY recommend!!
We had a wonderful time at Opa's Blueberry Haven. The house and property are lovely, and the instructions given to guests are clearly stated. Communication with the owners was good as well. We particularly enjoyed using the fire pit, which has homemade benches and seats around it. The beds were comfy; the rooms were a good size. The living room has plenty of seating and a beautiful view of the yard. We had a great time watching deer and walking the daisy-wildflower border looking for insects. The home is fairly secluded, but close to area attractions. It was a quick drive to Houghton for groceries, and around 90 minutes to nearby points of interest like Copper Harbor and the Porcupine Mountains. We really fell in love with the area and hope to visit again in future summers, and we would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the area :)
This rental is in a great location for exploring the western UP. It was well appointed and had everything we needed for the week. It is on a peaceful piece of property on a quiet road.
I would definitely give the place a thumbs up for exploring the area for a week.
this property is roomy and comfortable. the acerage provided opportunity for the kids to run and play outside instead of in the house but there were also toys, books and games for indoor play. the location made it a great basecamp for exploring copper country. We would totally recommend Opa's blueberry haven to others. the price was competitive and the accommodations were comfortable.
The property is beautiful, the house is very warm and inviting, it’s peaceful! My family enjoyed using the sauna, and fire pit outside! The house could use a few minor repairs but nothing you’ll notice unless you are a fixer (my husband)! Our family was the right amount of people to stay here. We have 3 small-medium children and one adult child. So we had just enough beds with the bunk beds. The area the property is in is about 20 minutes from Houghton, and very close to shopping and restaurants there. If you enjoy country living you’ll love to stay here!
We were impressed as soon as we arrived with the warmth and homey feeling that greeted us. The property was fantastic, clean and spacious. When we had questions, our hosts were quick to answer and help us out. They provided so many little extras, to make us feel welcome and give us ideas for exploring Copper country! The sauna was superb (loved the 'rules' as seen inside) and was utilized four times during the week. Great sleeping and everything we needed to make wonderful memories. We only regret that we came too early in the blueberry season, so could not enjoy any berries. Great as a base for exploring or just taking time to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the Northwoods. We look forward to another trip, maybe with other family members. Thanks Marty & Mary, you thought of so many personal touches to make us feel right at home.

This is a great property in an amazing location, close enough to the bigger city of Houghton to be convenient for supplies and far enough away to be very peaceful and relaxing! The home had everything we needed and more. Excellent location for sight seeing in the Keewenaw peninsula and going to Lake Superior. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
We had a wonderful time at Opa's. The house was sparkling clean, roomy and comfortable. The location was central to everything we wanted to do/see, and Marty and Mary were very responsive to any and all questions or needs that we had. Definitely would book again, thanks!!
