Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Please place all used towels in the laundry room (the housekeeper will strip the beds).

An AWD/4WD vehicle is strongly recommended in winter months. The dirt road up is very steep and slippery even after any snow is cleared.

About the host
Hosted by Rich Carter
Hi, my wife, Brittany, and I have been Lost River weekenders for over 10 years now. We truly enjoy the mountain life—with all the peace, tranquility, adventure, and rewarding work that comes with it.
Becoming short-term rental hosts was never our original intention, but one fun mountain project led to another, and here we are. We love hosting guests who appreciate nature and are simply looking to make lasting memories with the people closest to them.
Why they chose this property
We bought our cabin in 2014 with the intention of simply having a peaceful weekend escape. In 2017, we decided to turn the old barn across the street into the Lost River Bunkhouse Barn—a cozy getaway for family, friends, and guests.
In 2020, we expanded with the Lost River Tiny House, and in 2024, we added the Lost River Nordic House. Most recently, we joined VRBO to connect with even more people who love the mountain life as much as we do!
What makes this property unique
We're just about a two-hour drive from Washington, D.C., making us an easy and accessible escape for city dwellers in need of a quick getaway. That said, we also welcome guests from all over—whether they're passing through or simply looking to experience the wild beauty of West Virginia.
