Welcome to our Lakefront Cabin Retreat!
Right on Old Hickory Lake with its own private dock, this laid-back cabin-style retreat is made for slow mornings and sunset nights. A screened-in porch, loungers, grill, fire pit, and yard games pull everyone outside, while the canoe and easy lake access keep you on the water from sunup to sundown. Inside, you’ll find a fully stocked kitchen, comfy living room, smart TVs, and flexible sleeping spaces that work just as well for families as for friend groups—plus a dedicated workspace and kid gear so you can mix real life with lake life without the stress.
"Picturesque home with beautiful views, we loved every minute of our time with our adult children and grandchildren. We pulled up to a deer in the front yard and spotted wildlife on a regular basis. The accommodations were perfect for us - the kids took over the second floor while we enjoyed the privacy of being on the first floor. The family dining space on the deck was a special place to view a sunset. There were board games to play with the little ones, smart tv's in living and bedrooms on rainy days and great little fishing spots and a canoe when the weather was cooperating. With a fire pit, corn hole and a charcoal grill to top it all off, this place is incredible!"

OUTSIDE HIGHLIGHTS
Lakefront Access:
Private boat dock. If you are bringing your own boat or renting one, you can put into the water at the Shute’s Branch recreation area just down the road. It is just past the intersection of Needmore and Saundersville Rd. There is a boat launch there. You can put your boat into the water there and then tie up at our private dock during your stay. Do note that the water level in our cove does vary and can be shallow if there has not been much rain (even if the rest of the lake is at normal level). It usually sits between 3-4 feet but can get as low as 18 inches- 2 feet. If you have a large boat, parking it at our dock may not work. We've found boats with outboard motors have no issues.
Important Notice:
Expect occasional wildlife and insects due to the waterfront setting
Guest access
The entire house and everything in it is for your use during your stay. The only exception is the locked owner's closet on the main floor to the right of the 1/2 bath.
Other things to note:
We are lakefront and there is no barrier between the yard and the water. Please be aware of this when booking with small children or others who cannot swim.
There is fiber internet at the house, however, cell service is not great (1-2 bars). Keep this in mind if you anticipate needing to make a lot of phone calls (texts go through just fine but calls can be a little difficult).
Also, this should go without saying, but we are a house in the middle of a wooded area directly on the water. This means that despite our best pest control efforts, you might see a bug. This is to be expected and is no cause for alarm. If seeing a bug or two will ruin your stay, this isn't the property for you.
We are about 30 minutes from downtown Nashville. If you are visiting the area and want to be very close to downtown, then this isn’t the right fit. We have given you our exact address so that you can map the distance from the lake house to anywhere else you might want to go. Please do not book and then mark us down in your review for the location when you knew in advance exactly where we are located. We can’t (and don't want to) change the location! We think it's pretty special.
As part of the cost of their stay, our guests receive a damage waiver for up to $2,500 of accidental damage. No need to stress but please let us know if something gets broken so that we can arrange for its repair or replacement after your departure and be ready for our next guests.

About the host
Hosted by Shannon Franklin
I am originally from Birmingham, AL. I moved to Nashville for college in 2000 and except for a few years spent overseas, have been here ever since. I love the city and am excited to share it with visitors. I also do a significant amount of traveling myself and try to bring parts of the places I go back with me. It's part of what makes my spaces unique. I am an Alabama fan, an NPR junkie, and a coffee fanatic.
Why they chose this property
Old Hickory Lake is the best lake in Nashville. It's so peaceful and quiet. The house is actually in a neighborhood but it's set far back off the road and it feels like you're a world away from everything, while only 10 minutes or so from a grocery store, restaurants, and shops. This is lakefront living at its best.
What makes this property unique
This house is for families and for groups that don't have the budget or the desire to stay in a super fancy and super expensive house. This is comfortable, clean, and has abundant space for everyone at a fair price.
